I always stop here when I'm in town and have a great time. However this weekend I had a great time but wish I didn't have drinks. Make of it what you wish, but I ordered two tequila and oranges juices. 2. An hour and a half later I could barely stand. I was there with my boyfriend who almost had to carry me back across the street to the andaz. By the time I made it in the room I was projectile vomiting everywhere. And falling on the floor with no strength to get up. I also had eaten a lot, drank tons of water, drank liquid IV and had a hangover patch on as I usually do when I go out for drinks. Now let me clarify. I'm not some light weight. I finish bottles of wine. Can handle 5-6-7 shots and still manage to function and not get hungover, or be a fool. The TWO shots I had here made me violently I'll and made me unable to barely walk or function. So..weather I was SEVERLY over poured even though I could barely taste the liquor, or someone was ballsy enough to maybe put something in my drink even though I was standing with and dancing all night with my not so approachable looking bf of 12 years. Want to start off by saying that the karaoke/DJ and the ladies working at the bull ride, absolute dolls. Bartender on sat night, VIP doorman, not very personable. There's a huge difference in the attitudes of people who actually enjoy where they work and those that hate it and it was APPARENT that the bartender and the doorman that Saturday night hate their job or people. or BOTH. Lol The doorman was so rude as hell when I told him that my guests and I were on the guest list (the manager told me to go to him so we didn't have to pay cover). His response was "AND?" and.... you're a douchebag. There was one bartender earlier that night and she took forever and rolled her eyes like 100 times when someone needed a drink. Ewww. My boyfriend and I came here for a karaoke Thursday around 10pm, and jeez, I've never seen such irresponsibility employed by a bar in every aspect. The crowd was a mix of locals and college kids, not crowded at all, but I imagine most people were there to sing. The MC/DJ was flat out rude about people's song choices and encouraged the crowd to boo people who sang badly. If that wasn't enough, he decided to do his own number atop the bar while people were trying to drink, it was awkward. The bartenders, besides being very slow to serve the bar, have no idea how to make any cocktail that isn't a vodka Redbull or a shot (in which I saw them do many with friends/customers at the bar, some of which went behind the bar to make their own drinks) and were generally irresponsible and oblivious. A group of very young women, visibly over intoxicated since the moment we arrived, struggled to stand as the bartenders kept serving them far beyond what I think is responsible. They all drunkenly took to the bull later in the night, the operator let them on without hesitation, and swung them around fairly hard until their dresses came down or rode up, exposing each of them one-by-one to a small drunk rowdy crowd of men. It was disgusting. Just save yourself from a night of bad (yet pricey) drinks, rude staff, and a night you'll only have bad memories associated with. read more

This is strictly a karaoke review ... so read someone else if you are interested in other things on offer. I will say that the quality draft beer was great and best price I've ever found in the Gaslamp. I will also say that review based on one visit are patently unfair ... but if your experience is such that you don't want to go back, that's what the review will be. I've got 3 karaoke review takes: go out of my way to go back; go back if I happen to be around; and, never go back for karaoke. Unfortunately, on my one and only visit it was a solid karaoke 'never go back for karaoke.' There are two aspects to the karaoke that ruined things for me. First, you are singing to nobody. There is a very large 3 sided bar in the middle of the room which takes up most of the space and then on the opposite side from where you sing there are a row of booths. You can't see 75% of the people in the bar and they can't see you. The 25% that can see you are facing the other way and have to crane their necks around to see the singer. Personally, it's usually more fun for me singing in the shower. The other negative aspect is that one side of the room is open to the street and whomever, good or bad, wants to stroll by and toss out a 'bon mot' when you're singing. And some passers by are, to say the least, modestly or more on the unsavory side. I'm still giving 3 stars as I don't want to trash the place and, as I said you might have a different experience or enjoy other things ... but the basic layout of the venue is not going to change. As I can think of 2 or 3 other karaoke venues within a block or two, no reason for me to return. read more

What a fun vibe. The staff was friendly and fun! The bartenders were busy but did a great job! Kudos to Graysen who personally was our go to girl for cocktails. She goes above and beyond the norm. Really was looking forward to Comic Con this weekend here with my favorite girls! Popped out and had a decent time until I learned on my bill that I couldn't tip any of them. Apparently the Owner or management decided to eliminate tips for some reason. And as a fellow service industry manager, this felt just wrong. Do not decide for me that I don't want to tip. This industry is tip based and if you can't afford to tip out your staff, reevaluate because you need a new job. Taking tips from staff to keep in house is very poor behavior. It's distasteful and again, poor. Are they behind on the bills that bad?? Does Double Deuce need a GoFundMe to help them stay afloat? Because feeling like you need to eliminate the tipping system is insane. Have came here a few times & have had great experiences every single time until I decided to go for my birthday tonight . I always tip and have good customer service however , today the new security guard so called "Jeff" was extremely rude & dramatic to the point he kicked me out after purchasing my ticket to bill ride . Not only , did he harass me but he did the same to the group of girl behind me . He was upset that I tried entering the line after going to the bathroom . He then continued to act tough and complain about me having attitude when I simply stated my friend was holding my place while in line . Overall I like this bar, it's definitely a regular stop for my friends and I. The music and DJ are great. Drinks are pretty good. I came here a couple weekends ago though and started a tab, when I went to go close out the bartender deliberately ignored me and then tried saying she couldn't find my tab. She had literally just given me a drink two minutes prior. My last name isn't hard or unusual, I ended up having to type it out on my phone. Sometimes they'll pour doubles without asking you if you wanted a double then obviously charge you for it. Other than that, Double Deuce can be fun. This has become my new favorite spot to hang out at on Wednesdays. They got an all night Wednesday only draft beer special for $3 (any beer) and karaoke 8pm-close. Not only that, the staff is amazing. Shout out to the Bartender Becca. Not only is she beautiful, but her energy, her speed&efficiency, and ability make customers feel valued is second to none. It's hard not to smile when she is passing by you asking for a drink. Also, like to shout out the DJ Eli, he has such great song selections, does a really good job managing the queue of karaoke singers, and slays on the mic when singing. Came here on Wednesday night for a quick shot. They were pretty busy. Karaoke was also the spotlight of the night. Erin is great and does a great job hosting. The bartender on the other hand, Pricilla, Was quite unpleasant. I asked her three times for two simple shots of tequila. That was it. First time she came around to ask, she was kind. But she forgot, which was ok. So i reminded her a second time. Then she walked off. Then a few minutes later greeted the group of gentlemen next to me. Still no shot. So i said excuse me. I ordered 2 shots from you twice already. This will be my third time. She cussed at me and said "you didn't order sh** from me!" Walked off. Got my shots. And put them down and threw her hands up in the air and walked off. Security guard came over and was seemingly ready to kick me out when i just needed service from his bartender. Which is understandable with security in a bar when anyone ever has issues w the bartender. Not a bad spot for a Wednesday night crawl. We arrived right around 10 PM, made the acquaintance of Matt the door guy, and wandered inside. A few folks were riding the mechanical bull in the back, an few others were belly up and elbows down. Yawn. After a while, the place woke up a bit, and a few more folks walked in. We sang a few karaoke tunes (got big cheers for my Josh Turner impression) and tilted a few back. Kind of an interesting, if not undefined, vibe to this place. Is it a country bar? Is it a karaoke place? Is it a 90s throwback place? I guess--like a lot of SD spots--it is whatever you want it to be.
