This place has an old country, divey feel. It's waaaaaaay out in the middle of nowhere and leaves one slightly concerned that you're gonna hear banjos playing when you open the car door. The "All You Can Eat" breakfast buffet ($5.99) is only available on weekends. It was AMAZING. Today's buffet included: Scrambled eggs Peaches in syrup Fruit salad Grits Gravy Tater tots Link sausage Sausage patties Bacon Country ham Cornbread biscuits Our only complaint is that we found white beard hair in the scrambled eggs (we confirmed with the waitress that the cook has a white beard). She apologized and the next time we returned to the buffet, there was a new pan of eggs... Not really sure if that totally makes up for the cringe inducing experience of pulling someone else's hair out of our mouths, leaving us to wonder how many we ingested before noticing... Other than the hair incident, the food was excellent taste, quality, and quantity for the money. read more

I wouldn't even give this place one star... my husband ordered the smothered chicken... it was literally a frozen chicken breast slathered in some cheap no taste bbq sauce with (at least the bacon was decent) bacon and the plastic type $1 a pack square cheese that doesn't even melt good to top it off! The mashed potatoes were worse than Scottsboro jail food... the slaw had already ruined and he didn't even get it to his mouth to be able to smell the gone bad thankfully... I had the shrimp dinner with what was supposed to be onion rings and baked beans... I could have opened a can of the very most generic baked beans and they would have had more taste... the shrimp was not even cooked all the way, even though it was previously frozen... the onion rings were not onion at all!! They were some sort of half fried blobs of something that had a hint of onion flavoring, mostly batter though and like I said, only half fried... I had hope that the salad bar would at least be decent (I mean, how can you screw up a salad bar, I looked at it even before I added it to my order)... yeah, NOPE!! Looks were definitely deceiving!! I do not have a clue what that dressing was, but it most definitely was NOT French dressing!! Plain ol tomato sauce would have had far more flavor! Now we both sit here 5 hours later having to both take prescription zophram just to keep from puking.. this place is definitely going on the places to NEVER try again list!! I haven't a clue how they have stayed in business as long as they have.. my guess would be that such a small town (don't get me wrong, I absolutely love going to Blountsville) they just don't know better cuisine... I should have known something was going to go wrong when the waitress couldn't remember sweet tea and delivered something resembling Mountain Dew not once but three times before we even ordered food.. definitely ruined date night for us!! One day I'm going to write a book titled "The top 10 worst BBQ places ever" and Double B would be #2 on that list. (Sadly, I have had one worse, but that's another story). At Double B, you get what you pay for. In this case, cheaper prices equals low-quality. I just knew there was a catch. Anyway, my experience starts with being huddled into the back room for being the terrible healthy non-smoker I am. Is this the only restaurant in Alabama that still allows smoking and wouldn't you want your non-smoking room be the room your customers have to enter and have the register at? Just trying to help with customer service. Tonight, the special was All-you-can-eat BBQ combo, which was very misleading because you weren't going to be able to eat much of it. Compare photos below and you will see what I mean. My ribs were tough, unchewable, and what tender pieces I had to dig for, tasted very similar to the pork, which tasted equal to putting a good slimy piece of lard in my mouth. The pork had a very fatty taste and the BBQ sauce didn't help. The beans were fresh from the can of Van Camp's. The slaw was ok. The sauce was all right but tasted more like a runnier ketchup.Thank goodness my sweet tea was really good. It was the best part of the meal followed by my roll drenched in BBQ sauce. Because eating the meat with the BBQ sauce was futile so I had to eat BBQ one way or another. At the end, the lady at the counter asked me how it was. Some days I blame my mom for teaching me a little too well to use manners, because if she didnt, I would have told this lady how I really felt. I'm amazed this place has stayed open since 1987. This place has been around for a long time. Growing up in Blount county this place has always been good. Owned and operated by the same family since it opened years ago. Great food at very reasonable prices. I'm not sold on the bbq but their is much more to choose from. Meat and veggie Buffett has always been good. My favorite is the hamburger steak smothered with brown gravy and onions. The cheeseburgers are also great freshly made with all the toppings. Not your fast food burger for sure. The portion sizes are huge and you will definitely feel like your in a good coma . Interior is very simple and the service is supberb. Located 45 mins north in blountsville . Double B BBQ is an A+ when it comes to mom and pop BBQ joints. I stop by everytime I go to Gadsden. Their prices are competitive and they give you more than enough food to make almost two meals out of. They have a wide selection of vegetables as well as deserts in a buffet style setting. They are conveniently located on 231 so you do have to get off the beaten path if you re riding through Blountsville. Keep up the good work guys n gals. read more

We live in Ashville, but stopped here coming back from Cullman. They had the Jumbo Cheeseburger Special with French fries and a drink for $6.00. The cheeseburger was great and so were the fries. They have a salad bar and the items are always fresh. Our waitress Gena was the best. It is a long trip for us, but we are going back. read more
