Food was good and prices are reasonable. Parking is hard to come by on the weekends and the young girls who work there are little clueless. Also, the owner parked his car right in front of the restaurant for a long period of time which made hard for me to leave the parking lot of the restaurant. We have frequently eaten there. This week we chose to eat outside on a rather cool evening. We were the only ones to eat outside and we were a party of six adults and two children. We really appreciated the service and how they went out of their way to accommodate us in every way. I'm sure it wasn't easy for them to keep coming outside to serve only one table. This was one of the best take out restaurants during Covid. The food delivery was a little bit slow, but the food was excellent and less salty than most Chinese restaurants. The Shanghai Shrimp was fresh and a generous had plenty of fresh vegetables. The General Tao chicken was all white meat and properly spiced. Lots of fresh vegetables, too. Restaurant has a beautiful view. Seats outside and inside. Sat and got a bowl of Chinese noodles n duck sauce. Started w vegetable spring rolls And Thai chicken wings. Both veryyy good. We then ordered vegetable lo mein and velvet chicken and jumbo shrimp. Have zero complaints.. lo mein was so nice bc it wasn't saturated in oil. Being in this area it's hard to find a nice Chinese RESTAURANT! We will def be back to try sushi and many more dishes. read more

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in this area. Dining-in the view is great, but normally I do order take out. The quality of all the entrees I've ordered is top notch though I also think they're the most expensive Chinese restaurant around as well. I normally order beef and Chinese vegetables, roast pork egg foo young, ribs, scallop appetizer, egg rolls, miso soup... shrimp and mixed vegetables. My main criticism, which goes for most other Chinese places is... Chinese vegetables ends up being too much broccoli. I want more Chinese vegetables. Lol. Also, the breading on the fried scallop appetizer is getting a big overkill. Strangely enough, this place has the best duck sauce with chips around. Great food. The price is average for such a nice restaurant. The drunken noodles is especially good. The location and decor was extremely nice. They have an indoor and outdoor area to eat. The outdoor area is right next to a lake and they have these tables with large umbrellas to block the sun. When it approaches night, they light torches around the deck to ward off insects. There were surprisingly very few bugs considering how the location is right next to the lake. I received no mosquito bites during my 2 hour stay. This was my first time here and I must say everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. We ordered the Thai chicken wings and shumai for appetizers. We also got the mini godzilla rolls, anniversary roll, general tsos chicken, young chow fried rice. Their general tsos chicken was soo good and it' crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside. The place is next to the water so the view is pretty nice. They have outside seatings in the summer time. Staff was pretty friendly and attentive. I loved their jasmine tea as well and the cool teapot it came in. I highly recommend this place and I will definitely will be back even if it's a 50 mins drive from me lol! read more

Absolutely repulsed does not come close to how I feel about this place. The entire establishment is completely unsanitary.... walked in and an employee was making dumplings at a regular table with her bare hands.... nobody greeted us and eventually someone looked up to rudely say "go" as to go sit. the waitresses are so unfriendly....... could not believe how one of them was talking to customers... table next to us said her food wasn't edible and the waitresses literally laughed in her face. got an iced tea that actually tasted like lemon urine... sent it back and still had to pay for it. they charge you for water.......... this place is a sad excuse for an asian restaurant. it should stop trying to he something its not and close down before someone gets serious poisoning from the dump it really is. do yourself the favor of not getting violent diarrhea and DONT GO HERE. read more

Had a nice lunch which took a turn for the worse as we were walking to our car and noticed a kitchen staff member literally pissing into the lake that's behind the restaurant. He proceeded to finish even though he noticed us staring at him. Zipped up, wiped his hand on his shorts and walked straight back into the kitchen. Absolutely disgusting. Ordered pick up from Double Ai tonight. They definitely have adapted their model for takeout, but I can't speak for delivery. While I did have to wait on hold for a bit before placing my order, they upgraded their phone system so I didn't experience endless ringing, and it kept giving me updates about how many calls were ahead of me. Easy to place my order, and food was ready for pickup very quickly (order for 2 people, apps and sushi only, ready in 15 minutes). We ordered early to try and avoid the big Saturday rush (called at 5, placed order at 5:20, pickup at 5:40). Simple pickup system, contact free. Food delicious as always. Presentation of sushi rolls was a little weaker than "in house" experiences I've had there, but that's to be expected when fitting rolls into takeout containers. OMG. I normally dislike asian food. But this girll suggested this place. First impression...didnt smell like a typical. Asian place... It smelled really good. I smelled beef. I smelled chicken. I smelled authentic asian spices. I didnt smell salty MSG like most local chinese places. I smelled food i could try. I was right. This food is off the hook. Quality, huge portions, simply... 9/15/18: I ordered delivery today from Double Ai and was pleasantly impressed & felt a review was in order. Double Ai restaurant is located in Wayne, but I never tried it. When I saw the location, I got an I stand flashback to childhood (different restaurant same location) where my mom would take me and my brother to feed the ducks (before we knew it was bad to feed them ). Ok enough nostalgia.. back on track... Ordering was a breeze, delivery took an hour from the time order was placed , everything ordered arrived correct (uncommon these days) and the food was delicious. order included: - General Tso's Chicken: Large portion size, fresh REAL pieces of crispy yet tender , extra saucey (can never go wrong with extra), pieces of green pepper, cabbage (I think), and whole hot peppers. The only additions I would've liked was rice and broccoli. - Egg Roll: The best I've had (that's a big statement)!!! Fresh, super crispy shell and tasty inside. - Wonton Soup: yum is all I have. - Normally I'll taste a few of the crunchy side noodles that are typically given with Chinese food, but I ate the whole bag - Also tried the Cali + mini Godzilla rolls: Both good, but by the time we got to them, we were stuffed (tonight's snack).. My gripe... I'm a Coca Cola gal.. The menu specifically states Coca Cola. Well i was delivered Pepsi . Come on.. a gal has standards. Food was very good but the service is awful. The place is run by a bunch of kids that have no idea what they're doing. They bring out food for half the party and make you wait 25 mins for the rest of the food and explain that this is normal operating procedure. They also charge you for water and don't offer tap water and then tack on a 3% credit card charge. If they could just learn how to run a restaurant then they might have a chance. I might try them again but for those prices for Chinese food, they should get their act together. read more

Quick delivery, decent food. I think their Japanese offerings are better than their Chinese. We ordered Chow Fun and it was pretty greasy for the noodle dish. And I've never had scallion pancakes that weren't overdone. Still, I appreciate a place that uses white meat chicken in all their dishes, so they definitely get points for that. read more

My biggest issue was customers who brought their huskies to dine on the patio. Breezy day with two hairy dogs. I was going to tell the wait staff to cover my food. And sure enough there it was! Been coming here way before it was Double Ai but I've always enjoyed the food. Seems clean, friendly staff, great view of the water, prices are fair and food is always fresh and flavorful. Took off one star because it's a bit frustrating placing an order since the wait staff can barely understand or speak English. There's been a few times my order came out wrong because of this reason. Double Ai opened recently in the space that had been Lake Sea. Located just north of Hamburg Turnpike on Terhune Drive, aka Route 202. A friend and I stopped by for lunch today and sat on the outdoor deck. Beautiful day with a view across the river, good service and good food at reasonable prices. Lunch specials were $7.95 and came with a first course (soup, salad or spring roll) and entree. The place calls itself an "Asian Bistro" - they offer Chinese, Japanese, a little Thai, and a sushi bar. My friend had a spring roll to start (good) followed by kung pao chicken (also good). I had the hot and sour soup to begin (best that I have had in some time) followed by General Tso chicken (very nice, not too much batter, white meat chicken). I will be going back often, especially while the deck is open. Only problem is that they need a few more umbrellas. read more

Summary: Very well executed upscale Chinese food at mid-range prices. We were here on Christmas Eve. We waited a few minutes and passed the time watching some extremely grumpy fish. The space was totally packed and quite noisy but they had extra servers on hand and service was totally adequate and cheerful. While the menu is a combination of a standard Chinese menu, a standard Japanese menu, and about a quarter of a standard Thai menu, we stuck with Chinese. Appetizers were scallion pancakes, pom-pom chicken, and Mongolian beef skewers. The pancakes were crisply fried and tasty. The chicken was stir-fried strips in a peanutty-brown sauce. It was very good and was the size of an entree. The four skewers were a good size, tender and a good flavor. Entrees were general Tso's chicken, orange chicken, chicken and shrimp in black pepper sauce, and a chicken with vegetables in black bean sauce (Chef Wang's). The fried chicken dishes were exceptional - thick, moist pieces of white meat with a thin but crispy breading and a flavorful sauce that wasn't over-sweet as these things often are. The other two dishes were also tender and well cooked, with crisp vegetables and flavorful sauces in reasonable amounts (not drowning). Entrees were very reasonable given the quality - 11-13 dollars for chicken, 12-15 for shrimp, with portions just large enough for a few leftovers. Everyone at the table agreed that the food was 90th percentile as far as standard American Chinese restaurants. Then, since it was Christmas eve, we were brought complimentary scoops of ice cream for everyone at the table (green tea and chocolate, excellent, not too strong and overwhelming a green tea taste) in addition to the usual orange slices and cookies. Finally, by the time we had eaten and paid, we were alone in the restaurant with a large family. From the buzz of their conversation we heard phrases like "how much government there is nowadays" and "let me tell you how Medicaid REALLY works..." at which time we shouted "politics at Christmas, run! GO! GO!" and the four of us dove out of the booth and sprinted out of the restaurant, through a tunnel of staff who were all smiling and wishing us happy holidays. read more
