If you are ever looking for some cupcakes; normal sized or mini, this place is it. I came here the other day to pick up a dozen mini cupcakes for my little sister's birthday. The cupcakes looked really good and my sister has been wanting to try these cupcakes; so, I bought some. As we tried a few, some of the cupcakes are a bit sweeter than others like the dulce de leche cupcake. Other than that, customer service was great and the place is very clean. Their shop is decorated cutely so you can take cute photos there too. All I have to say is that when I ordered the cupcakes, some of the signs were mixed up as I was ordering them. The worker there was confused what I wanted as I was just reading the sign the cupcake was assigned under. Other than that, the worker was really nice to clarify to me that the cupcake labels were misplaced and told me which cupcake was what. I absolutely love this cafe and cannot stop raving about it with my friends and family! The cafe is too cute inside and out, and super comfortable ambience to boot so it's a great place to either hang with fam, or work if needed. The food is delish, but my favorite is coming in for a cupcake and coffee. Their mint chocolate cupcake is a staple of mine since I had it years ago, but definitely a hard choice among all the available cupcake flavors. And their oat milk latte is something I've never had anywhere before. I'm starting to crave it more often :) read more

I'd give less than one star if I could!!! Don't be fooled by the trendy decor! Everything is a facade to distract you from their flavorless cupcakes/less than average food, terrible customer service, rude manager, unsanitary work practices and pretentious employees. Let's start with the cupcakes they're so well known for: They are flavorless EMPTY CALORIES that taste even more bland than a ready cake mix you buy from the grocery store. They are grossly overpriced! Their decorations are so basic, a child could make them, so I really cannot justify paying so much for a cupcake this basic. Actually, subpar is a much better word. Next up, their cafe food: Also lacking flavor! Everything I've ordered has either been overcooked, undercooked, or freezing cold, when it's suppose to be a hot dish! They always get my order wrong too. Unacceptable! Moving onto their customer service and manager: Rude and pretentious. They clearly don't realize they should treat customers with respect because they're a small business and they rely on word of mouth to keep them afloat. I'm so sick of these people treating me like trash! Not to mention the manager is always yelling at their employees for not packaging the cupcakes correctly, which I overheard is diagonally, alternating flavors. Stop making a spectacle! Lastly and most IMPORTANTLY their unsanitary food practices! They never use gloves for anything. They use the same tongs for all of their flavors, giving no care toward their customers with allergies. They REUSE dirty cupcake boxes to pack future orders!!! This blew my mind. DISGUSTING! THESE BOXES HAVE OLD DRIED FROSTING ON IT FROM A PREVIOUS CUSTOMER THAT CHANGED THEIR MIND. they stock their chemical cleaning supplies right next to the food(major health code violation!) I saw their kitchen door open, and their chef kept touching his phone (which is covered in germs) and touching the food after. He was also defrosting chicken against health code standard!!!! Their dry foods were all over the place, not stored properly at all. Someone needs to call the health department on these people or I will do it myself! DO NOT EAT HERE! Super crunchy ...Nothing special to me but presentation . Fried tamales bites (2 pcs) - very dry and mostly cornbread. Fresh squeezed OJ- can never go wrong with that! Adorable place, spacious, parking lot. All good. However, it is incredibly expensive for what you receive. The "waffle combo" is 13.50. And when we say combo, they consider SYRUP as meeting that expectation. Anyway, its 13.50 so you assume its going to be pretty great. But it is the same circle size of a quarter pound hamburger. Looks like it would be a side of waffle. And for anyone environmentally conscious, it's your worst nightmare. Even when you're staying in the restaurant, they serve it to you in take out containers (coffee and the $13 hockey puck waffle) right down to plastic wrapped utensils and napkin. Had a wonderful one-on-one meeting here today. Happy to have this beautiful, adorable morning breakfast option. Had the mushroom gruyere toast ($6). It has fancy mushrooms (not just button) and tomatoes on it. Added some Cholula hot sauce and perfecto. Would have preferred a larger plate though, so that's it's easier to cut. Took many photos beach it was so pretty inside. Felt uplifted by the lovingly designed interior and decor. They have only been open three months. Dots has the absolute best cupcakes. My personal favorite is the chocolate mint. I've been coming here with my mom for a couple of years and on Sunday's we tend to visit to get some cupcakes and delicious scones and crinkle cookies. We tried their family meals for the first time for New Year's Eve and we were blow away. Gorgeous presentation, generous portions, and a steal for NYE dinner. They've been around for almost a year now and things have improved since the last time I reviewed. The food is still great and I think the staff is more regular now and happy. The kids portions are really big and the food quality is great. Love the breads they use for the sandwiches! Things I wish we're better? So instead of ice cream we wanted to try something different. My fiancee heard of Dots opening up close to our house so we decided to give them a try. The plaza that they are located in has just been remodeled. Believe me, it needed it. It looked like something out of 1970. Now it looks modern and inviting with a new parking lot and warm wood tones. Dots currently is the only store in this plaza. When you walk in you're welcomed to a warm, inviting decor filled with tasteful color combinations. It's one open space with no booths, just tables. I was concerned that it would be loud, as is the case with most open space cafes/restaurants. There was about 20 people in the Cafe and the volume never got too loud, definetly a plus. I was able to carry a normal conversation without the need to raise my voice. On to the cupcakes. We got there in the late afternoon and the manager told us that they had sold out of a lot of flavors. They still had at least 7 to choose from. Man, I can only imagine how many other flavors are available. Guess I have to get there early to find out. We settled on four flavors: Dulce de Leche, Strawberry shortcake, Red Velvet and Chocalate with vanilla frosting. I can honestly say that I enjoyed each flavor thoroughly. Each cupcake was moist and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness for my palate. My favorite was the strawberry shortcake. I love the pieces of strawberry that were in there. They also have regular sized cupcakes for each of their flavors. They also serve coffee, lattes, soup and sandwiches. I had a coconut latte and it was fine. I've had better but it wasn't a deal breaker. Wish I could've tasted more of the coconut flavoring. The staff was extremely informative and courteous. They offered free samples and were able to answer several questions we had about bulk pricing, catering and delivery. Very professional. Again, they have a basic lunch menu with soup and sandwiches as well. Looking forward to sampling the menu further. All in all a great experience and will definitely be returning in the near future. read more

My husband and I ate breakfast here this morning and it was EPIC! When you walk in the first thing you see is a beautiful flower wall and a gorgeous pastry case with probably 30 or more different flavors of pastry's. The staff were SUPER friendly. I ordered a ricotta pound cake, breakfast burrito and a chai tea latte with almond milk. My husband ordered the classic quinoa bowl with fried egg. The ricotta pound cake was so flavorful and delicious-might be one of my favorites EVER. The burrito was AMAZING, cheese, perfectly cooked eggs and sausage, avocado and tater tots wrapped in a super buttery delicious flour tortilla. The chai was not a gross syrup chai like at most places, they used their own spice mix that was incredible. My husbands quinoa bowl was very healthy, no yucky oils, he loved it. We are VERY picky when it comes to food and Dot's did not disappoint. We are sad there is not one in Phoenix where we live. We also ended until buying 15 cupcakes to take home!! Not only was the food fantastic, the customer service was amazing. The hostess/waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and the barista was so nice and asked me how sweet I wanted the chai! I had the Chicken Katsu sandwich on the brioche bun. This food is extremely high quality (a whole chicken breast instead of a small piece of chicken). I've had Dots cupcakes before (which I loVE), but I didn't know they expanded to a cafe setting so I came here for brunch with my sister and another friend to try it out. The interior design and decor is an instagrammer's dream; it was bright and floral, and just put me in a good mood right when I walked in. Since I went at approximately 11am, they offered me both the breakfast and lunch menus, which I liked since it opened up more options. We still ended up ordering exclusively from the breakfast menu though hehe. The three of us ended up sharing everything we ordered, so here goes the review!! [Breakfast Sandwich] Probably my favorite thing we ordered. We got it with bacon (though I wish we tried it with avocado instead), and the texture of the toasted bread with the crunch on the edges was perfect. The blend of the melted cheese and egg was rich and savory, and the sauce only added more flavor to it. [French Toast] The flavor of the toast was a little bland, even with butter and the syrup. Even so, I really liked the syrup; it was lighter and more floral-tasting that the average syrup. [Country Fried Steak and Eggs] The steak was kind of dry, so I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped. I'd never tried country fried steak before, but it was pretty good, though I feel like it wasn't much of a breakfast item. [Peach Black Iced Tea] It had the perfect sweetness to be able to fully taste the peach undertones of the tea, and was really refreshing in the morning. Overall, I don't know if I would purposely come back for brunch, but I absolutely loved the ambience and interior of the cafe so I'd come back for their cupcakes. read more

My wife and I went to a soft opening. The place has a floor to ceiling glass on two sides to allow bright sunlight in. That just sets a precedent to all other components of this cafe. I loved that they had a variety of seating types available from high top bar stool seating to a large family-sized home dining tables. The kids definitely enjoyed visiting this establishment. Their food and menu are appropriately priced for an LA cafe. What I loved was the lofi hip hop that's playing there. For a Mac n cheese and Swiss panini, which tasted great by the way, it took a little long to come out. Their pastry display had a lot of cupcakes that were displayed beautifully but I personally wished they had more variety of pastries. What an adorable, fun spot! I was so excited to try it for brunch last week, since there are not many choices for us in East Pasadena. I was imagining making this my regular Sunday spot. Oh no. I ordered scrambled eggs with blueberry waffles. The eggs were cold, bright yellow, and did not seem fresh. They seemed like they were poured from a mix. The waffle was light and crisp, but very sour, like they used too much buttermilk. My husband ordered the breakfast plate which came with hash browns and eggs. The "hash browns" were rectangular patties like the frozen ones from McDonalds or maybe Trader Joe's. The prices are high and the food is pre-fab. Like so many of these pop up restaurants, you do all the work, ordering at the counter, setting your own table and getting your own water. I can do all this at my house, for a lot less money. This place is like so much life right now, shallow and empty and over-priced. Give me a diner or give me gourmet, but don't offer me fake food. read more

I used to go to their Arrow Parkway location in Pasadena, which is now closed. I have been to their location in Old Town and also the one on Colorado. Their Colorado location has cute interior decor, though their parking lot is small, it's not difficult to find parking. I have not tried their food at the cafe yet, so this review is only for their cupcakes. Onto their cupcakes. My families' favorites are red velvet, passion fruit, mostess, chocolate mint, chocolate lovers, and black forest. The cupcakes are moist and the frosting is not too sweet. We love coming to Dots cafe. My daughters love the cupcakes and It makes me super happy that I can choose to buy them the cute small ones versus the regular size. It is always very clean and organized. Its extremely picture friendly! The food and the coffee are delicious. I always order a decaf mocha with almost no sweetener and it still taste good. I have read other reviews on here and I must have come on a bad day because this was easily the most disgusting breakfast burrito I've eaten in my entire life! Here's why: The bacon was 90% rubbery grizzle, The tutor tots were few and far between and they were soggy and had zero flavor, just blah! The whole burrito tasted the same, I couldn't make out each flavor of any one particular ingredient. IT WAS REALLLLLY BAD. So bad that drowning it in salad didn't work. The worst part, I couldn't eat the rest of the day because I was nauseated for hours after I stopped eating it.
