I finally made it to Dosa after, like, 6 years of trying. They specialize in the same regional cuisine as Udipi, dosas and uttapam. Uttapam was first described to me at Udipi back in 2011 by my then girlfriend, who was Pakistani and introduced me to a lot of great places around town, as "basically Indian pizza". The restaurant is small, quaint, and tucked in a building behind a Townie strip mall bar called Traditions. There are only like four parking spaces, and if they're at all crowded, you'll have to get creative. Also take care navigating the jungle surrounding the entryway. I wish I had a thumb green enough for these big guys. Everything about the meal was delightful, except for this lady going on and on extremely loudly about her friend's penis and his prince albert. I'm not kidding. Only she wasn't using anatomically correct words to describe these things. Talk about whatever you want, but don't do it at the top of your lungs. Anyhow, middle-aged woman with no manners aside, it was an exceptional experience. The little veggie donut things, the rice cake, the dosa (the paneer masala) and the uttapam (the mixed veggie) were very flavorful and left me wanting more, despite the already large size of the meal. I will return, 100% Hopefully Prince Albert stays home next time. read more

This is one of my favorite places in town. The lovely couple who Own it are always there and do Much of the cooking as well. The food is good, the dosa is their speciality. Try it with its myriad stuffings. They usually have a freshly made dessert as well. The ambience is very low key but the food is fresh and tasty. No salads or other health concessions here. Lots of fried snacks and rice dishes. If you like your carbs spicy and fried, this is heaven. Everyone I have ever taken here has enjoyed it. read more

This place is well worth the visit. If you have never had a dosa before, they are amazing. It is a thin pancake made of rice and beans that is used much like a wrap, with fillings of your choice. The dosas are huge and well worth the price. It is a bit greasy of a meal compared to other dosas I have had (hence the 4 and not 5 stars), but it is delicious and I have never been disappointed with them. Staff is always cheerful and helpful as well. :) I am gluten free and never had a problem eating there as well, although I can't attest that they are certified gluten free for those with celiac since I only have a moderate gluten intolerance. Definitely recommended!! read more

Pretty difficult for me to rate a dosa restaurant considering I don't eat lentils or chickpeas. So unfortunately... no dosa for me, but I did manage to find some other tasty dishes to order. My food was enjoyable. The service was great. And judging by the smile on her face, my babe loved the dosa. read more

We had bad experience with dosa corner. Recently we traveled from Cincinnati to Columbus and called dosa corner for timings before travel. As per restaurant they close it by 4 pm and serve till 3:30 pm. Once we got there , around 3:30 pm, restaurant refused to serve and told us they are closed. This was ridiculous as they confirmed the timings over phone. It was really disappointing from restaurant. Would never go to dosa corner! No professionalism by management at all! read more

This place is so nice! There's a decent amount of seating space and the food was very good for the price! Everything is about $10 or less & there's so many options! I'm definitely coming back to try the dosa! read more

Best dosa in Columbus. Get the Mysore masala Dosa - on par with the South Indian fast food joints you see in Bangalore, Mysore or much of southern India. read more

I visited this restaurant today itself after reading some commendable reviews. The place is quite decent but customer service is not. It took us a while to figure out whom to ask to get seated as there was no one on reception/counter. A lady having lunch nearby told us to get seated anywhere we wish and then it took few more minutes for someone to come and take order. The guy who took our order seemed not interested in entertaining us. We ordered Dosa thali and vegetarian thali, food was just average. It wasn't the best South Indian meal I had in Columbus, especially the staff made the experience worst. They should at least know how to treat customer nicely. Also getting check after finishing meal was another hazard, we finally had to walk to cashier counter after waiting for 5-10 min and ask them to take it from us. So, I'll not be visiting this place again and would not even recommend this to anyone. read more

Excellent authentic South Indian food. Has a few spots of dedicated parking. I had the following items: - masala papadam - pretty good. Too many raw bell peppers, but I like that. - mirchi bajji - not spicy enough, but this is Columbus, not the streets of Hyderabad. - masala dosa - amazing! Really tasty. - paneer dosa - pretty solid. Wish there was more paneer, but that's always the case. Paneer is awesome. - sambar vada and rasam vada - felt like I was back in Madras - filter coffee - reminded me of what my grandma made. :) Overall, excellent service and amazing food. I ate wayyy too much! Great hole in the wall place with authentic South Indian food. Would definitely go again. read more

I have a message: 1. For all those South Indians (SI) who miss their mom's homemade vegetarian food. 2. For anyone looking for some great vegetarian food Dosa Corner is it. My wife and her parents love this place... which is odd as they are Gujarati (North Indian--by way of Michigan) and Dosa is not standard faire for them. Yet, every time my in-laws are in town, there is at least one pilgrimage to Dosa Corner. I'm Telugu (South Indian--by way of Missouri) where Dosa and Idli are daily staples. I would rate their mysore masala dosa only behind my mother's (which is high praise--the woman could take down any iron chef with one hand tied behind her back). The chutney and channa is decent, too. The chole and saag paneer is pretty darn good as well (especially since these are north indian dishes.) My three star rating is due to the seemingly random variability in the portions you receive when getting take out from Dosa Corner. I'm guessing it depends on whomever is in the kitchen, but sometimes we get so much food for take out that we're eating leftover chole for several days. Other times, we finish our order in one meal. Odd. read more

Dosa Corner, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... I have probably been here about 12 times in the past 6 months! A tiny, nondescript building from the outside, but great food awaits inside. My favorite thing to order is the 'paneer masala' dosa. If you're extra hungry, you can order it as a thali, but be prepared for a ton of food. The dosa are crispy, full of that wonderful sour flavor, just the right thickness. The filling is very tasty, although they always go a little light on the chilis for me. If you aren't as tolerant of chilis, then this is probably a good thing--they normally ask if you like chilis or onions beforehand. The sambar and coconut chutney are also good as well. While I'm not normally overly crazy about sambar in general, theirs is quite good, and goes really well with the idli. The 'vegetable supreme' uthappam is also really good if looking for something different from a dosa. I have not tried any of the rice or 'curry' dishes, so I cannot comment on their other dishes. The mango lassi and masala chai are worth trying here as well. They have a wide variety of desserts--I have tried the besan ladoo, coconut ladoo, gulab jamun, and mysore pak. Their gulab jamun are probably my favorite out of all the places in Columbus. Vegetarians and carnivores alike will enjoy it here--there is so much delicious food that everyone will go home full! I have also been here with several Indian friends (from the north and south alike) and they have all agreed that DC has some of the best South Indian food in the city... The service can be a bit slow, especially when busy, but the food makes it well worth it--you can always go up and ask for the check and pay if you're in a hurry. Ok, I'm definitely off to get some dosa now after writing this review!!! read more

Dosa Corner's dining area is probably smaller than the dining nook in my flat. All the better to fill it with scents from the kitchen. The only real problem with a restaurant that small is that it becomes communal, which is a plus if that's your thing, but if you're more into having quiet booths and private conversations, you're gonna want to get takeout. Dosas are kind of awkward to take home. You've got the long, narrow, doughy package wrapped up in a middle-heavy cylinder. There's no way it's gonna keep its shape on the way home. But it keeps the flavor, and that's enough for me. I'm fussy when it comes to spicy, and the channa masala dosa was the perfect degree. Strong, tasty... I was sad when I filled myself up. And then happy the next day when I got to finish it (though the filling works better for leftovers than the dough does). Maybe at some point I'll sit down for more than one dish instead of grabbing a meal and running away, but you can't really lose either way. read more

i have been here a couple of times and the first time I came i loved the food. Amazing taste. The only problem was the parking :), on a busy day its difficult to get one. Well based on my first experience I decided to go to this place again but this time I didnt like the food because I felt the food served was stale. I ordered "Mirchi Bhaji" and it looked like it was cooked sometime in the morning and served to me when I ordered my dinner. But since my first experience here was good, I m going to try this place again and update my rating n review. read more

Weird, I must have come here on an off day... I didn't think the food or atmosphere at Dosa Corner was good. I DID however, see a couple fellow Yelpers eating a late lunch as me and the boy tried to pull ourselves out of a "it's 4pm and we haven't eaten yet" daze, so I will wait to see what they have to say... but... ehhhh.... So, I like the hole in the wall atmosphere, but the service was lacking. Not in an intentional way, I don't think... and there *were* several Indian families dining in here, so I thought everything would be *a lot* better... but, the place is cute if dive-y, the servers don't talk much and the food... Well, we ordered samosas, which came out promptly and were good. The masala dosa we ordered came out first, and so we just shared it (I think I ordered it, but they set it in front of the boy). When we were done and wondering if they'd just forgot the aloo muttar, the server came over and told us it was almost done... so we got it to go. The potatoes in the dosa tasted boiled, which I understand is a time-saving tactic, but... it sort of tasted like New England boiled dinner... really sort of unremarkable and slightly stale. Obviously, I'm still in shock that this place got such good reviews... but the boy remembers it being good, so I'm guessing we just had an off experience. Grrrr. I'd like to say I'd try Dosa Corner again, because I do prefer South Indian food over North... but I dunno. Also, everything was served on styrofoam, which is terrible for the environment. The water we got came in a pitcher, which was warm, and was served in dixie cups. All of this would have been fine with me, if the food had bowled me over. But it didn't. I'm sad. Sad, sad. sad. Pinche sentido. :/ read more

This is the kind of place I want to love. Small, family owned, hole in the wall place. It's also a perfect example of how great food does not alone make a restaurant. Likes: The food. It was delicious and what I have to imagine pretty authentic. We had a restaurant.com gift certificate so we ordered several different things, all of which were really good. There's no standard Chicken Tandoori here; if you don't know a lot about Indian food, be prepared to spend a few minutes trying to decipher the menu. Dislikes: Pretty much everything else. Probably the biggest turnoff was the fact that everything is served on styrofoam or plastic. Cup, utensils, the whole nine yards. Doing dishes sucks, I get that, but it's part of owning a restaurant. Even worse was the fact that we wanted to take our food to go so we transferred our food from one piece of styrofoam to another. We used more styrofoam for this one meal than we have used in a year, I'm not kidding. As someone who constantly tries to do what I can to contribute to a greener planet, i can't in good conscience support this kind of wastefulness. The service was atrocious. When we walked in, an older man pointed us to a table without speaking. After a really long time, our waitress finally showed up to take our order but was really no help at all in describing any of the items off the menu. She was slow, unfriendly and I'm sure only working there because she is related to the owners somehow. Because we ordered so much food, our table was covered in plates, yet with each new offering the waitress looked at us as if we should direct her what to do next. Umm, how 'bout if you take some of these empty plates? Just bad. To top it off, because we used the restaurant.com certificate, an 18% gratuity was automatically added. If you're looking for authentic Indian food, this might be a good option, but I highly recommend getting carryout. If I was ever inclined to eat here again, that is what I would do. I will certainly not go back and eat in the place, and I'm not sure I would even choose the carryout option. I will probably try one of the many Indian restaurants in the area first. read more

My wife is from Kerala in southern India and she loves Masala Dosa, wada , idli, chutney and sambar so she really wanted to try this place. We went there today for a late lunch and loved the food. The food is WONDERFUL (do not be deterred by the rest of the place) and that is the only reason we will continue to go back. I cannot say enough about the food. My wife had the Masala Dosa thali and I had Mysore Masala Dosa. Great food and a a great price! The bad part was the parking and the service. This place seats probably 60 or so people but has 4 or 5 parking spaces. The fact that it is a hole in the wall was not a problem (my wife was apprehensive but I told her a hole in the wall usually equals good tasting food). Service wise, we were promptly seated but the waiter took forever to bring the menu and then to come back and take our order. We never did get the bill and neither did the people behind us so we all went to the counter. Bottom line - yes the food is awesome, yes the place is a hole in the wall, they just need some customer service skills - if they had that the whole experience would have been wonderful. read more

This small and no-frills place has little in terms of ambiance. But the food is pretty damn good. If you don't like styro plates and plastic cups don't even bother. But if its real Indian food you crave, this one has got it. The food is freshly prepared and served hot. The menu has mostly south Indian fares - Dosas, Idlis, Uttapams, and a few others - but they are more than enough to come back again. The Masala dosa (crepe - not sweet) is great. The vadas (esp. the masala and medhu) are great as starters or even meals. If you are hungry get one of those combos and you can get a taste of it all. The place does not have any non-veg, but even a carnivore like me will make an exception for good grub. I've been to many Indian restaurants and this one is up there among the best. read more

I am an indian and grew up eating dosas and south indian food on a regular basis. Three years ago I came to this place and it was awesome. This joint was one the best indian food place in the city. But... I was there yesterday and left before even finishing my meal halfway. Here's why. We started by ordering mirchi bajji (chilli covered in dough and fried). It was burnt and super oily. It was so bad tht we could only taste the sauce we dipped it in. I then ordered a Bangalore thaali. The rice were at least a day old and crunchy and half cooked at best. For the dessert that comes with the thaali, I saw him take it out of the freezer in a plastic cup and microwave it directly. The cup as expected was half melted on my plate. My girlfriend's dosa was white ( which means not cooked enough-it's supposed to be brown -for comparison also check the photos on their wall). In short, the food was stale, tasteless an got us sick for two days. It's a pity that this place went from being my favorite to an absolute s*thole. read more

I like the Dosa Corner. The name pretty much says it all - they're in a corner and they serve dosas! It's not a fancy restaurant but the service is friendly and the food is fresh and delicious. It's not a first date location, but a great place for a quick lunch or chill dinner. The mango lassi is very good and the dosas are perfectly crispy. The portions are fairly large (I usually end up taking home half of my dosa and it still tastes just as good as leftovers). Some of my favorite dosas are the masala dosa and the channa masala dosa (basically the masala dosa with chickpeas). But be warned - the channa masala dosa is spicy!! Also, save room for the dessert. The jalebi are homemade and some of the best I've had. We always take an order to go! read more

This place pretty much meets the definition of a hole-in-the-wall restaurant - tucked away, barebones decor and furnishings - but it's pretty darned satisfying and reasonably priced, too. They serve all-vegetarian South Indian food (with some nods to North Indian cuisine as well), and the food is very fresh and tasty. Like I said, the ambiance won't win any awards (the computer-printed pictures of menu items really don't make me want to eat any of them), but it's a good place to stop in for lunch or takeout. read more

I went with my Mumbai friend Vilas and we tried the Bajji (peppers with fried breading) and the breading was too thick. I believe it should be thinner so I would get more pepper and less bread. After searching for Vegetarian food, I came across Dosa Corner, and the website looked very promising. I arrived to find a shack like building. The service gets a thumbs up for me, but the food fell a bit short. I ordered the Vegetarian Combo. It comes on a metal plate with a mixture of food on in styrofoam containers. I liked the Channa Masala while I left nearly all of the Veggie Curry on the plate. Everything tasted a bit sour and salty. Dosa Corner - Combo #1 with Paneer Masala Dosa - Indian Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

We saw the prices and thought they must be giving us very little food. How wrong! I couldn't finish my dosa. A dosa is similar to a crepe, and it was perfectly crunchy. Mine was very garlicky. The waitress kindly asked me if I liked garlic before I chose it. Not that it really needs extra flavor, but the dosas also come with great dipping sauces. One is some kind of typical curry kind of thing, the other is a nutty, green dip. Both were great! I'd like to go back and sample their desserts. One bad thing is that there was a drilling sound the entire time we were there. But it was ignorable for me, as everything tastes so good. read more
