The same party of 7 of us have come back to this restaurant multiple times after my original review. First of all, the entire table was swatting FRUIT FLIES from their face and food the entire time. I noticed it at every other table as well and the fruit flies especially gravitated towards the mango drinks. Dishes/glasses aren't clean when you sit down either. The service hasn't been well and they have been cold to us each time since we have been back. There were hidden up charges and again, written checks that don't make it clear how tax and tip are calculated. We went to clarify at the front, as we have every right to (especially since there was an automatic tip calculated for 7) and the woman raised her voice at us. She had written the ORDER of tax and tip in a manner that didn't make sense to us. During the process there was no reason to raise her voice and make the entire restaurant turn their heads towards the front. We are paying customers who wanted to clarify a large bill but didn't argue once we understood it! Based on these past few interactions although food is the only good thing about this place, I will not be coming back based on our service and their interactions with us in the restaurant. We had an early dinner here after running some errands on Bethel. It's such a cute spot! Service was friendly and prompt, menu is great and I was pleased to see it's woman-owned and she's the chef, too! Food was great - I had paneer masala and hubs had chicken aloo masala. I have had their food before and I loved it and that didn't change for this time either. The food is absolutely delicious here. However, the service on the other had was totally 180. We were seated right away soon as we arrived. There were 2 other guests at the restaurant when we arrived. We waited about 10 minutes for our server to come back to take our order. We ordered Aloo Naan, Vegetable Pokoras, Chicken tikka and Mango Lassi. All the food were just delicious, but it took a while to get our food, about 15 minutes. We received all our food except for the mango lass. Halfway done with our food, I had to ask the server about the Lassi, and then we got it right away. I think he just forgot. No one came to ask if everything was ok or not after we received our food or if we needed anything else. Once we were done with our food, we asked for the bill and couple of boxes to go. Our server gave us boxes but it was way to small to fit anything and had to ask for a bigger box, which took about 15 minutes for us to receive. I would have been ok with all of this if the place was super busy but it wasn't at all! There were plenty of tables at this restaurant and only 3 tables had guests, including us. It had been a long time since our last visit but we had a craving. I was very disappointed. We ordered the malai kofta, aloo bhindi, samosas and aloo tikki chaat. The malai kofta was $18.50 for 3 pieces of largely chickpea flour fried in what tasted like horrible rancid oil and watery flavorless sauce. I love the black sauce, the green one was more veggie/cilantro and my husband love that! Yum yum! I got the chicken tikka saag with garlic naan, and it hits all the spots I want Indian food to hit. The medium heat level doesn't seem super spicy, and I'm a bit of a wimp there, so plan accordingly. As a person of South Asian descent, I do not say this lightly, but this is the best and most authentic Indian restaurant in Columbus. It took us a while, but we finally made it to New India Restaurant on a cold winter night. Since this was our first time here, we tried a few different menu items, although it was a struggle to narrow down our choices from the extensive menu because everything looked so good. The chai-biskoot (milk tea with Parle-G cookies) is a staple in the South Asian culture, and it is a must-have here. We also enjoyed the mango lassi drink. For appetizer, we tried the Papri Chaat, which was tasty and was also a shareable (among 2) portion size. For our main course, we ordered the Chicken Tikka (comes with rice and a small salad) and the Chicken Korma (comes with a naan bread). We also ordered Poori (deep fried breads), and they came out warm and delicious. Chicken korma is not a dish you will find in a lot of Indian restaurants, and that's a shame because IMO it's a great and unique dish. Also, it's actually an authentic Indian dish compared to, say, the chicken tikka masala, which is not an authentic Indian dish. At New India Restaurant, the chicken korma was fantastic, and we all loved it. The star of the show, however, was the Chicken Tikka, which is the best I have had outside of the Indian subcontinent. I know the founder of this restaurant was originally from New Delhi (his family still owns and operates the restaurant), and despite decades of presence in the Columbus market, they have been able to hold on to the true Delhi tikka flavor profile. I will come back here just for this item again and again. Our service was excellent, efficient, and polite. The manager (her family has owned and operated this place for 22+ years) came out to check on us and was kind enough to give us a brief history of the restaurant. The place is clean, spacious, and nicely decorated with Christmas décor. Most of their menu items here are halal. There is also a bar with various regular as well as specialty drinks. The place may be a bit pricey compared to some of the other Indian restaurants in town, but the portions are big, and the flavors are better than anyone else's. I will definitely be back. read more

This place has been my go-to Indian takeout spot for several years. I've tried many items from both the meat and vegetarian sections of their large menu and enjoyed them. A positive of so many visits is that I've honed in on my go-to items, and they really knocked it out of the park during my last visit. Chicken Tikka Masala Special (Mild Heat) Chicken Chili Specialty (Medium Heat) Saag Paneer (Mild Heat) No weak links! The dips with the Samosas are a hit as well. Add a pakora and/or naan of your choosing and you're eating well for days. Finally found a great Indian restaurant with delicious Chicken Tikka Masala that has the perfect amount of spice! We ordered "hot" CTM and it was excellent. I do think there could be more flavor vs just spice in the CTM. The garlic naan was thin and perfectly cooked. It went so well with the CTM. We also ordered the tandoori shrimp dish, which was also delicious. I would love to try the tandoori fish dish next time. Would not recommend Served undercooked chicken: as you can see in images, chicken was raw and undercooked. This was noted not only by the color but by the and undercooked squishy and rubbery texture. After bringing up to a worker, we were repeatedly told that "that is what is supposed to look like." Please reference photos, as the chicken is clearly not fully cooked and this was only one piece when it was found in multiple. If this is what is considered "normal" at this restaurant (very unsafe), I would not recommend eating from here. Worker "explaining" was condescending. Service: While employees seemed friendly, the service that we received was very poor. After being seated, we waited for about 10 mins for menus to be brought out however no one came by. Before almost leaving, after 10 mins of waiting someone came by to tell us to go to the buffet. I asked about menus and she said "it's the same as what's in the buffet" and walked away. Given this, we were left with no choice but to eat from the buffet which was not preferred option. We thought about leaving but decided to give it a chance. Later during the meal, we watched as other customers were brought and ordered from the menu. Throughout the meal we were not offered the opportunity to order drinks because no one ever came to the table. We left the restaurant with a stomachache. My partner who ate more of the chicken had one through the next day. No one should have to worry about being served raw or undercooked chicken at a restaurant and then get gaslit about it when bringing it up privately.
