    Carne asada burrito
    Michael S.

Stopped for a quick bite on a 6 hour drive back home. I had a carne asada burrito and my wife had a shrimp taco and elote. Pretty sure the elote was boiled, as there were no char marks. Still good, but different than I would have expected. Dos tacos is your standard local Mexican food joint. It's easy, quick, and good. It's not going to disappoint, but it's unlikely to win any awards either.

This place wasn't so bad at all A lot of different tacos to choose from of course you know your normal Mexican fast food restaurant they give you pretty big portions it's a little hole in a wall but it's pretty decent I didn't get any Mexican food I end up getting fish and chips because that's what I had to taste for My partner had add a chicken bowl and it was a pretty heavy one too I was very surprised of the portions and the prices aren't so bad either we just happen to get there before starting getting busy and this was at 7:30 at night definitely a go back

I wanted everything on this menu! I can't tell you how hard it was to choose. But I came with tacos in mind, so that's what I got. I got 3 tacos: asada, chicken, and birria. All were fantastic! They had a red and green salsa and I was totally prepared to drench my food with it. But the food already had great flavor and was perfectly sauced, so I only used a little. The kids menu was small, but perfect. They had quesadillas, nachos (chips and cheese), and bowls, each for about $4. There was one item I'm forgetting.... The lady who took our order was so nice and helpful. The restaurant was clean. The music was fun. There may or may not have been a little dance party in the ladies room when I took my daughter. The music was a bit louder in there! We had a great time. The food was amazing and the prices were reasonable. I will 100% be back and will be getting one of those amazing looking elotes! I just wish they had a location in the SW.

There were 2 dogs and fries!! Bimb

The food was very bad. No seasonings. Birria was very oily and bland. The staff was nice

THE BEST tacos in Bakersfield. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Every meat, every menu item,…read moreeven the agua frescas, all top tier. They load you up with meat that are all cleverly seasoned and prepared. Asada has smokey taste to it that I think some places lack. Pastor has the perfect blend of sweet and spicy . Buche is savory and doesn't feel like you're even eating offal. Everything is loaded up! The loaded potato has about a 1/2" lb of meat or more. The quesadillas are plump! Meat almost falls out. Sauces and other accompaniments are self serve and you can get as much as you want. Their chipotle salsa is spicy but damn is it good. They even have spicy onions that I never see. While you wait for your meal and watch the taquero at work, they have beans, tostadas, nopal, grilled onions and jalapenos all just sitting there FOR FREE. They also have some tiny potatoes soaking in the meat juices if you're lucky enough that they haven't run out (also for free!). The experience is just so customer forward and this is a gem that I hope expands even more. They have deals every week from buy one get one tortas, $1 tacos at a certain day at each location. It's often they have a line so consider yourself blessed if there isn't.

When I finally…read moreordered, the employee handed me number 26 even though the customer before me had number 30. I sat there waiting forever for my number to be called, but it never was. Eventually, she asked me about order 31 and repeated the tacos that were in it. I told her those weren't mine because that's not what I thought I ordered, so she offered to remake the food. I then waited another 20 minutes for the remake. When she finally handed me the order, my drink was missing even though I paid for one. She went back to check the ticket and realized she had grabbed the wrong order entirely. At that point, somehow the original order 31 that had been sitting on the counter the whole time magically turned out to actually be my order after all. So my food had apparently been sitting there getting cold while I waited another 20 minutes for a remake that shouldn't have even happened. The entire situation was disorganized, confusing, and handled very poorly.

But on a recommendation from colleagues, I was told to make the trip to the central part of town and check out Birria Bros. I'm a convert: It's the best overall place I've had in town. Their menus is simple and laconic without a lot of options: You pick from taco, burrito, quesadilla, and flautas and then you pick the meat: birria, al pastor, or carne. No craziness or Flamin' Hot anything. This is my kind of establishment already. The service is no-frills: It's an iPad with a cashier, and you get one of those pager things that buzz/sound when your food is ready. And then your food gets prepared in the truck and served. This is all anyone needs in life. I enjoy their quesotacos. They're a bargain and a great size at that. But my favorite are the flautas: They're cruchy, creamy, and cheesy. The combos are good too because the rice and beans are tasty. Their orange-colored salsa is smoky but absolutely spicy - definitely use with caution but entirely worth the burn. I think the best thing about BB is the value, as you get a great product for what you pay. I wish they'd open a location on the Southwest.

We had a hard time finding it at first, but it's located in the parking lot of South Union Mini Mart. There's a lot of different taco trucks on Union, so make sure you don't pass this one up. Parking isn't really an issue, so don't worry about that. Staff is really nice. The first time we visited the young lady that took our order was very friendly and interactive. She had a nice warm personality so you feel welcomed when you visit. The owner, I didn't catch his name but he's literally cooking the food in the back. He's super friendly and also made us feel welcomed. Even though they are wayyyy out there on Union, they are the reason why people want to come back. Yes, food can be good at places, but if you have a good heart and personality then people can tell you're genuine. The first time we visited we were overwhelmed because we wanted to try EVERYTHING, I don't know what's my favorite item yet, but I'll let you guys know when I find out. Don't sleep on Taqueria El Jalisciense! I'm not a big fan of chicken tacos and I even loved those and I would get it again. Everything is so flavorful and you can tell he really thought about his menu. What I love is that he uses quality meats. Don't believe me? Definitely check out his instagram @jalisciense_torres don't blame me if you get hungry checking out his page haha. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. If you're around the area and don't mind driving out to Union then this is the place. Give them a chance. P.S. they only take cash or Zelle so be prepared and they open in the evenings at 4pm-10pm. You better go before people start hearing about this place and the lines get too long. :-)
