    Cucumber lemonade. Delicious!
    Elaine F.

This visit to Dos Gordos was completely unplanned. The place we originally intended to have breakfast at was under construction, so when we noticed the "Now Serving Breakfast" sign, my husband and I decided to give it a try. Neither of us had been there before, and we're so glad we stopped in. When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised to see how full it was with happy customers. We were greeted right away and asked if we'd prefer indoor or patio seating. We chose to wait for a table inside, and within 10 minutes we were seated. The staff brought us a cute little aluminum pail of tortilla chips with two salsas, and we ordered a side of guacamole. It arrived quickly and the portion was huge--more than enough for two people. Everything was fresh and so delicious that I actually forgot to take a picture! The cucumber lemonade was crisp, refreshing, and worth every bit of the $5. For our meals, I ordered the shrimp cocktail, which was bursting with flavor and freshness--I'll definitely be coming back for it again. My husband ordered the green chile pork and was so quiet while eating that I knew it had to be good. When I asked how it was, he said, "Better than Comedor Guadalajara," which is one of our top favorites. That statement alone says everything! Our server, Nadia, made the experience even better. She was attentive, friendly, and truly engaging with her customers--something you don't see as often these days. She has a wonderful personality, and honestly, the owner should give her a raise or bonus. She really made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was upbeat and lively without being overwhelming. The music had us dancing in our seats, but it wasn't too loud to have a conversation. Inside is cozy and small, but it never felt cramped. Looking around, it was clear that this restaurant draws a beautiful mix of people: an older gentleman quietly dining alone, a group of golfers, a young couple with a baby out on the patio--all enjoying the food together. The place was packed. Everyone seemed happy, and the whole vibe was positive. We were shocked to learn Dos Gordos has been open for about seven years--we only wish we had found it sooner! Since they open earlier than most Mexican restaurants, it's perfect for mornings like ours when our day starts at 5:00am. My husband and I both agree this might be our new go-to breakfast spot when we don't feel like cooking. The food is authentic, comforting, and has that home-cooked feel. The shrimp cocktail alone transports you to another place. Between the great food, welcoming service, and fun atmosphere, this local gem is absolutely worth a visit. I highly recommend stopping by Dos Gordos--you just might love it as much as we did!

We stopped in here for brunch! It's a fun little spot! Very Ma and Pa place! The staff was very happy and friendly. They were singing and dancing while they were rolling silverware! It was cute and gave a very homey vibe! They were accommodating to all my questions! They bring you complimentary chips and salsa that was fresh and delicious! I got the breakfast tacos with potatoes! They were so good! They have plenty of menu options! Something for everyone! It's a smaller area but they also have great outdoor seating options too! Definitely recommend stopping in and giving them a try!

I ordered the chicken enchiladas with green sauce. The portion is huge! The enchiladas tasted great, but I thought the rice and refried beans needed a bit more of the flavor. Our server was attentive. Although it's a small restaurant, I love how they decorate it.

Decent food, great prices. Located within a strip mall, so lots of parking around. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. They have complimentary chips and salsa. Service is a little slow for such a tiny restaurant, but servers are always very kind. The prickly pear marg is good but very sweet, but the jalapeño marg is the best!! Happy hour is 3-6 Monday through Friday, which includes margs, nachos, flautas, and few more items. The fajitas were good, but it weirdly only comes with one tortilla! I had to ask for another. The flautas were tasty, and came with a large portion of guac and sour cream. I've been here a few times with coworkers and like it!

I ordered a green chili burro and refried beans pretty simple right now? Wrong I paid $15 for a rice burrito barely any protein in it and no beans this is the second time I tried this place and definitely the last I just spent 15 on a rice burrito I gave to a two star because the rice was decent

I stopped by for breakfast, I had the chilaquiles with both red and green sauce. The eggs were cooked to perfection the refried beans had amazing flavor. My server ( I didn't catch his name) was very attentive and my food came out in just a few minutes after I ordered. The atmosphere seemed very calm and relaxing. I will definitely be back.

This location has a good variety of Mexican food and it was yummy. I had 2 bean gorditas and it was plenty for me....they were yummy! My friend had ground beef Gordita plate and he enjoyed his with rice and whole beans. Finally, my third friend had three tacos (fish, shrimp and lengua) which he liked the shrimp and lengua. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was really friendly and the service was fast and prices were reasonable. We all recommend and would return.

Beef saldato plate... I loved it.

Found this spot because I work close by the area. Me and my coworker came here for lunch. We were seated right away the food came out very quickly. My plate was delicious the flavor was on point. My coworker had a bean and cheese burrito she said it was delish. I would go again. Our server was very nice and attentive.

Dos Gordos is a local Latin inspired restaurant nestled in the plaza off of 35th ave and baseline rd. I have only ate here once as a takeout but plan on trying more food options to determine a final rating. I ordered their breakfast burrito, egg ham cheese and potato and I give it an overall 3 star. It really did have the potential to be a great burrito but the two things that really caused my rating was 1. Lack of flavor and 2. Nothing was cut down to chewable sizes. For an adult I don't see this being that much of a big deal but I was sharing my burrito with my child and I had to cut down the potatoes, eggs, and ham pieces to more bite sizes. It was very awkward to eat when every bite felt like half dollar size pieces and wasn't really getting a good mixture. This is not a final rating especially as there are a lot of yummy items on the menu I want to try. I will give an updated review soon. *** As a reminder everyone's taste buds are different so I always say try it for yourself and continue to support Local!!!***

I'm so glad we finally went to try Casa Corazon. We met with a friend visiting from out of town…read moreduring lunch, and everyone absolutely loved it. The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

The restaurant has a small bar of three seats to enjoy some drinks.. initially we were just going to have margaritas for six dollars during happy hour but decided to have guacamole as well for $10 on happy hour. Guacamole was excellent and came with a bean dip. To complement, our guacamole and chips we checked out the salsa bar. The salsa bar has over six choices of salsa. One of my favorite salsas was hibiscus. We enjoyed our quick happy hour so much that we hope to come back for dinner as I see Mole is on the menu. The staff was super friendly and attentive. I hear that they have open a second venue not too far from the original place. They have an event venue. Their original place is in a former church. The architecture inside is very interesting due to the roof structure.

This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
