Went here for a consultation on a cake I wanted for my son's first birthday. The girl I had was very sweet and helpful. She was communicating with her manager on the price and all. When it came to the day of cake tasting the girls in the front looked aggravated early in the morning. Manager came and we were given a different price from what we had first been given. Our cake was simple and yet overly priced. Did not seem to care if we did the cake with them. Didn't come to a solution to satisfy a customer needs. Not a place I would come to sorry. read more

Overpriced bakery items imo. They're ok tasting, just not nearly worth the price. The thing I hated most was the charge for credit card usage wasnt told to me upfront. Just picked up a lemon meringue that was so old the meringue crumbled like snow or powder. I couldn't even get the fork into the lemon. It's terrible to pass this old stuff on to patrons. People go out of their way to go to a bakery, they don't want to get home and realize they have been "taken ". When I called to complain, they said to come back and pick something else. I think a better option would be for them to deliver or DoorDash a dessert to me. Bottom line is, don't trust this bakery to do the right thing. I ordered a pie via DoorDash. I ordered a large pie because I have a group of people coming. A girl from the store named Gabby calls me and tells me that they don't have a large pie and only a small pie. I explained that I have a whole bunch of people coming and she goes I'll call you back and hung up on me. I receive a small pie and they refunded me the difference without a call back. The small pie is the equivalent of something I can eat myself. I ordered a gender reveal cake for a friend. Upon pickup, it wasn't what I asked for. I asked for sprinkle sides, with a plain top. The entire cake was sprinkles. I didn't want to make a stink and didn't say anything. Then, upon cutting the cake it was bright blue with mousse filling, when I asked for light baby blue ( even showed them a picture) with fudge filling. I ordered a Tres Leches cake for a birthday at the suggestion of one of the employees. Pricey, comparative to a doody supermarket bakery cake, but for the occasional splurge, oh so worth it. It's noticeably better, and I can't stand people who say "X is soooooo good" and when you taste it yourself, it tastes ok, but nowhere near justifying the price premium compared to anything else. At least, for the cakes and cannolis I found this to be true. This is personal, but I prefer my cookies to be harder ... likely due to my sexual frustration (pretty sure it's a thing). The cookies at Dortoni's are softer and crumble in your mouth far too easily. But, that's just my personal preference, so I won't knock them too harshly, as the taste is very good, just not a fan of the texture (hugely subjective). read more

This bakery deserves 1/4star at best their tre leche cake was just a disgusting sugar ball all inside was runny and disgusting like it was a week old cake or better. They ruined my nieces graduation cake and all they could say was I'm sorry for the mixup we ordered that cake a week ahead of time inside was moldy and the decorations must have been done by a kindergarten student. They also charge you 4% if you use ur credit card for this garbage they serve. I will be dropping their name to a friend in the department of taxation for their "encouragement " of cash payments. I had the worst experience in THIS store. I have been going to the Dortoni bakery in Levittown for the past 12 years. I love all their cakes and customer service there. I got so happy to hear they are opening one close to my house. I went there for my daughter's birthday cake. They did the most disgusting job. It was suppose to be a little mermaid cake. Instead of building the base around the doll they just make a dome with HEAVY buttercream and just sit the doll right on top. It looked soo disgusting and soo tacky. Like I had gotten dolls cakes before from the Dortoni in Levittown and never they just sat a doll on top of a cake. I'm so upset. But the service was horrible one of the girls that took our order was just making faces to us as soon as we entered the place, we're not really sure what we did wrong but her attitude was noticeable every time will ask to add something on the order she will make annoyed faces I guess she didn't like us.. This was Saturday night and it was only her and other girl she had a piercing on her nose We don't know her name. This place is excellent. I haven't lived in NY for 16 years, but it's where I go for Christmas to see my parents and when I'm in town, I want all the goodies. I haven't had Rainbow cookies in over a decade and this year I wanted to find some. I found Dortoni was the most promising when searching online and decided to check it out. The internet and Yelp did right by me! I got a number of items but I have to say the rainbow cookies were exquisite, yes, exquisite. I know it's been years but these were remarkable for a few reasons, the chocolate - creamy smooth and soft even when in the fridge - great mark of quality, the cake layers were moist, jam/jellies in between were also delicious. I don't remember having rainbow cookies of this caliber ever, all the years I grew up on LI. Maybe they should always be this way, but I can only remember the chocolate outside being hard and the cake never being this soft and never moist like these. I will be getting these every time I'm in town. Other items to note - rainbow cannoli cake slice, napoleon, sfogliatelle, and cookies were also excellent. Coffee too! All the staff were very nice and friendly too, I asked if they were like Cake Boss in the back and they said they were better and had more fun! That's pretty great to hear after what was definitely a busy holiday season for them! Long Island has great food, but because there are so many of the same types, like pizza, delis, bakeries, etc - it can be hard to find the best of the best. Thieves! I placed an order late one afternoon for a birthday cake (nothing special) and two small holiday cakes. The very next morning, I called to cancel the order because my mother got Covid and we cancelled the party which was planned for her. I was given a VERY hard time about canceling the cake order. They insisted the order could not be cancelled and I could only get a credit. Only after pushing did they agree to a credit ... BUT they charged my credit card instead. It has taken FOUR separate calls over several weeks to get a credit. I was put on hold for extensive lengths of time every single time I have called. This biz is totally disorganized and unprofessional. I hate to pan a small biz but the entire incident has been extremely aggravating and unwarranted. I was due a simple credit due unforeseen sickness after cancelling within 12 hrs and I spent MUCH more than that trying to get a credit! This left a very bad taste in my mouth, so much so I will never frequent this establishment or recommend them to anyone. read more

Delicious delicious cakes Bought 3 recently and buying another two soon !!! So far everything has been excellent. We are all very happy. The biggest thing to note is that EVERYONE who tried the cakes liked them. That has NEVER happened before. EVER !!! The Levittown location is cool. Plenty of parking, and an awesome beautiful store. Smells so good inside. :-) Go in, take a number, and they will get to you soon enough. They always hav eat least 3 or 4 people working the store. Meanwhile look at all the amazing cakes and cookies and breads and it's simply marvelous. Almost like you've gone into a fantasy land zone ! Can't wait to go back for more cakes and assorted goodies. I've been a fan of the Levittown location for years. I'm so happy that this location opened in Suffolk. It is a busy bakery and at times the wait may be long, but it is worth it for the quality of the items as well as the quality of the service. There is no other bakery that compares. Everything is freshly made and you can have custom creations as well. Any other prior reviews that are complaining about wait times have not experienced a quality bakery like Dortoni. I will continue to be a repeat customer at both locations and refer everyone I know there. read more
