She pulled off a MIRACLE with my dress…read more To start off, I bought an Amalia Carrara/Eve of Milady dress off the rack in NYC and although it was beautiful, it was a disaster. Problems included that it was TOO small around the torso, yet TOO long in both the bodice and skirt (it was dropped waist as well so my torso looked so long and my legs looked like they only made up 1/3 of my height), the wedding buttons were tattered, the straps were torn up, there was a red/brown stain on the skirt, there was too much crinoline and tulle yet no volume in the skirt, and she still had to add cups and bustles. Now I had to move to the Boston area at the beginning of April so I could not find an alterations person before this meaning, she only had 2 months (my wedding was the first week of June) to fix everything. As I walked in and told her my problem with my dress as well as the delay in finding an alterations person, it was clear that it was going to be a big job (Hranush, sorry again!). But she took on the challenge! We set up 3 more appointments and she gave me a relative quote for the price of the job which was reasonable considering how work it involved. To other brides who are looking at Hranush or others, please understand that all dresses are different so asking for a quote out front, which may change, will just cause you heartache you don't need. Mine was COVERED in appliques and beading so I knew it would be a lot more costly since she had to remove everything, do whatever job needed to be done in that section, and then replace it back on the dress. As I continued to go see her, I let my inner control freak subside because (and this is super important!), she is a perfectionist WITH amazing ideas. I knew she took pride in the work she put into my dress no matter how hard of a project it was. For example, I would have an idea, she would outright give me a better idea based on what she knew I wanted, and I trusted her idea and execution 100% - and those are the kind of people I want touching my dress, people I can count on! In response to the dress problems I listed above, she seamlessly added fabric to fit around me (you cannot even tell where her additions were as they were so aesthetically pleasing), she brought the torso up to my waist and made my body/legs much more proportional looking, she put on new wedding buttons, hunted down MATCHING beads for the strap, covered up the stain with appliques from the skirt which was shortened, removed the crinoline and tulle and hemmed my hoop skirt that I purchased separately to add volume, and of course, added cups and bustles. It was a big ask, and she delivered! Do not hesitate to contact her and do not be afraid to relinquish control over your dress as she knows what she is doing. But that tailor turned down my job because it was too time consuming; she instead referred me to Alla. I'm so glad she did! Not only is Alla's sewing beautiful, but she is professional and lovely to work with. The work was completed on time for every fitting I had. Her prices are great given the high quality of work, and she is less expensive than tailors on Newbury St. Lastly, as a testament to Alla's creativity, she saved the extra fabric and beading from altering my gown and created a lovely pillow. It will be perfect for the ring bearer the day of, and I will treasure it as a keepsake afterwards. I hope to donate my dress after the wedding, so the pillow will be a precious memory!

Nearly every time I tried to explain what I wanted, point out an issue with the fit, or question something being done to my dress, I felt chastised or dismissed. Eventually, I felt uncomfortable even voicing my concerns. This woman simply does not listen, and that is the last thing you want when someone is altering one of the most important and expensive dresses you will ever wear. The timing was also unacceptable. I spent THREE afternoons with her during the week before/of my wedding trying to get the dress finished. It was cut so close that I ultimately had no choice but to take the dress as-is because I was leaving for my wedding venue the following morning. There was literally no time left to have the remaining issues corrected. After all of that, the dress was still noticeably too big around my waist and hips. Even worse, one of my straps fell down repeatedly throughout my entire wedding night. I had specifically raised concerns about the straps, and Anahit's solution was to use fashion tape. For bridal alterations at this price point, fashion tape should NEVER be the solution to a strap that does not fit properly. Looking back at some of the negative reviews after my experience, I was struck by how familiar the complaints felt, particularly around communication, feeling dismissed, and concerns with the finished alterations. I wish I had taken those reviews more seriously before booking. I paid a significant amount of money and trusted that after multiple fittings my wedding dress would actually fit me on my wedding day. Instead, I spent part of my wedding repeatedly pulling my strap back onto my shoulder while wearing a dress that was still visibly too large through my waist and hips. Wedding alterations are stressful enough without feeling like you have to argue to be heard about your own dress. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Anahit for bridal alterations.

I had so many sleepless nights worrying my dress would not be perfection, and reading some ridiculous reviews of Rosas's (some bridezillas complained about all types of things like her losing a dress). But, low in behold, my dress was altered to utter perfection with Rosa. She was timely, communicated, worked up to 7 days a week to get the job done for me. She is Turkish and used to do hand-made, custom dresses in Turkey. She did a fabulous job. Yes, it was $700 and I paid CASH with some on a CHECK. In 2026, it's heartbreaking that racial profiling is still so present in everyday life. Disheartening? Absolutely. Surprising? Sadly, not anymore. I walked in to give them my business after scheduling an appointment 3 and a half weeks ago -- to have my wedding dress altered -- and was dismissed almost instantly. No conversation. No courtesy. The moment she saw me, everything changed. Because I don't "sound" the way I look, the shift in her attitude was immediate and unmistakable. It was clear I wasn't being judged on my request, but on her assumptions about who I was. I refuse to normalize or excuse this kind of behavior. If you share my background or look like my family does, I want you to be aware of what you might encounter here.
