Sadly just a few months before her wedding it was cancelled. My friend and I both had our wedding dresses tailored with Dao (without knowing the other was coming here too!). In general, there will be 3 appointments spaced out over a couple months. Surprisingly, the appointments are not very long. The first appointment, I wore the dress and Dao immediately told me a list of things she needed to fix (things that I am clueless about so I cannot verify if true or not) and provides a quote/invoice. The second appointment is a double check. The final appointment was my longest one as I asked her to make a small tweak, which she did on the spot. I did notice that the dress felt more supportive and structured on the last visit due to the work she did (adding boning etc). [[HIGHLIGHT]]She usually has one other associate working in the shop and together, they are extremely good at hyping you up as you try on the dress.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Cost wise, my friend and I both spent about $1K each on our dresses. In summary, Dao is very confident in her skills and vision and it is clear she has a lot of experience in wedding dresses as her entire shop is lined with wedding dresses. PS. My friend looked STUNNING on her wedding day - the dress fit like a glove and was so flattering. She told me you can take the dress back after your appointments if you need more work. PPS. Dao is a miracle worker. I read so many positive reviews that I felt assured she would be trustworthy with my dress. I have a short engagement and wasn't able to purchase my dress until three months before the wedding - off the rack, of course. There were tailors who weren't accepting customers until after February, when my wedding is. So I drove from Providence to Waltham, and Dao knew exactly what I needed. She hemmed my dress (it was SO long), she took it in *several* sizes, she added cups, she fixed my shoulder bling and allowed the back strap to be removable, she added a bustle, she trimmed and fixed my veil. It now fits like it was custom made for me and I love it so much- I CAN'T WAIT to walk down the aisle. My fiancé may pass out. I'm not sure what Boston pricing is - I will say it was expensive, but I would much rather pay a higher price and know I'm going to get a dress I love then save money and risk it being done poorly ("ruined" as reviews at many other places have said). 10/10 recommend. I would NOT recommend. They have discrimination and would charge people differently without a standard price. I was charged $130 for only a leather jacket and it was apparently not good... Although they did it again, it was still far from average. You can see the picture I posted. On the right arm, the thread is not in the right place. On the left arm, the thread is connected from top to bottom and it is such a mess. For the other suit, I was charged $40 to adjust the sleeves. You can see, the buttons are not even on the same line. Dao altered my wedding dress for a Hawaii elopement, and I was so lucky to have found her! She is incredibly skilled and sticks to the established timeline. She has a wonderful eye for alterations and made some additional suggestions based upon the fit, which ended up making the dress fit like a glove. I cannot recommend Dao highly enough, she is an absolute magician and so incredibly lovely to work with! I found my dress in late April and became pregnant in late May (planned but earlier than expected!). I ended up being over 5 months pregnant at my wedding and was so sad to think I would have to buy another dress. Despite gaining 20 pounds, (hello pregnancy) Dao was able to alter my dress beautifully! She saved me from having to buy an entirely new gown and was able to make the additional alterations at a very reasonable cost. I'm so glad to have found Dao, so much so that I will continue driving 30 minutes each way just to use her exclusively for tailoring services. She does timely and impeccable work, offers great customer service, and all at a reasonable price. For example when I have had a new dress altered here, she completed the work in a few days and it fit perfectly even though I was especially picky about the way I wanted the bottom half of the dress to fit. She will also provide her expert opinion (with justification) and isn't afraid to speak up if you make crazy requests that will result in something she knows you will be unhappy with. For example when I pulled the sides of a skirt in to show her how form fitting I wanted it to be she gently brought me back to reality and reminded me that perhaps what I was requesting would also mean a skirt that I wouldn't easily be able to walk in (not exactly a minor detail to be ignored). Ultimately she was able to execute my vision with impressive precision. She's also very likeable and is easy to talk to. During my visits she always had a constant flow of customers, many of which seemed to be regulars. It's always a good sign when a small business is able to retain loyalty customers as it speaks to the growing population of folks who are happy with her work. Dao is incredible. This woman altered my wedding dress and after my first fitting, it already fit as if it was made for my body. I wore Pronovias, which includes incredible detail and I was concerned that it wasn't going to fit me the way it needed to, since the detailing is so intricate. Dao has done two major alterations for me now. One to let a bridesmaid dress out a full size, which was done perfectly without even seeing any extra fabric, and then my wedding dress - WOW! First off, she is so kind and sweet to work with. The wedding dress itself ended up being redesigned and made just for me. She took the whole dress up an inch in the torso, cut/shortened my train, hemmed length, and made the bustle exactly what I wanted (I was specific). She listened to every detail I mentioned and to every little spot I pointed at, it was fixed - she has en eye to see it all and always knew what I was going to say! I had beading all around the top of my dress and down sides, and this was never a problem. The train was mostly lace and she was able to reconstruct. I've never been to a tailor before so I was nervous to be going to one for the first time for my wedding dress, but I'm so glad I went to Dao!! My fiance and I planned a wedding in 3 months, so needless to say I was a little stressed when I heard from multiple people that they were no longer accepting June wedding dress tailoring jobs, nevermind my March one!
