Grabbed the Italian Grinder. It was decent in terms of taste, but too pricey for what I got. Sandwich is small and they aren't very generous with the meats. Staff was polite and they are located in a plaza with plenty of parking for convenience. I probably won't come back due to what felt like an inconsistency with the pricing and quantity/quality. I would pay 10 dollars max for what I received, not $17. I don't think the problem with the sandwich was the quality of the meat when I referred to quality I meant more in the care it takes to assemble and produce a balanced bite. When I bit into the sandwich, it tasted more like a salad than a sub. The proportions were off. They also have pasta and pizza so maybe those are better choices to check out on your visit. read more

Italian deli with a classic vibe to it. It's family owned and operated and is located in a strip mall in Upland. It's a classic deli in that it has a good menu of different sandwiches along with prepared foods (and it seems like one of their specialties here is 'broasted chicken'. I came in during a late afternoon one day and was unsure if I wanted a sandwich, the chicken, or one of their prepared dishes. The folks here are very, very friendly. You can see that they have real pride in their place and the food. I think I met the owner and he was just as friendly as can be. He was telling me about the usual favorites and the meatball sandwich sounded really good. The meatball sandwich was a good size and it was very very delicious. For sure did not disappoint. I had the Brooklyn grinder cold sandwich and he had the Spaghetti & meatballs with garlic bread. My sandwich was great and their food presentation was excellent! From start to finish I called and spoke to KARMA and she helped me and was so kind and efficient you can tell she really loves what she does. Wow wow wow i'm at a loss for words. I literally called this morning for a last-minute order my pregnant sister wanted to make all her food for her baby shower and she's stressed out this morning and I said you know what I'm going to call old world and see if they can do it and they were able to make me 18 quarts of macaroni salad last minute and they did it with a smile !! Definitely one of the best hole in a wall spot I ever been :) This place reminds me of being in New York.. every vibe is Brooklyn all over.. the decorations and even the servers itself is NYC. My favorite in the LA area is Baycities.. if you know you know.. with that said, the Brooklyn Bridge grinder is the next best thing I've ran into. This place is so delicious! A staple at our house. They are also very accommodating and amazing staff. My wife was pregnant at the time and couldn't have cold deli meats so I asked if they could fry someone the cold meat and without hesitation they helped me out. They are the absolute best! My work colleague is obsessed with their ham & Swiss and cannot stop talking about it! So I finally came back and he was right lol. Their Ham & Swiss is definitely larger than their pastrami, not significantly but for the price which was around $13 I believe, I'd def come back for it. The bread was firm but giving, ham was freshly sliced and savory, the Swiss was a nice touch, the thinly sliced pickles were definitely the cherry on top of this beautiful deli morsel of goodness. I've been to this place before, but the location in West Covina. I remembered them having really good sandwiches. Never tried the soup though. This place is actually really big inside. Love the way it's decorated kind of like old Timey Italian. The service here is really good. The people are friendly and very helpful. The girl at the counter was super sweet and gave me the top two soups to choose from. I ordered the 16 ounce cup of soup and half sandwich. I decided on a turkey sandwich. It's always my go to and perfect with a cup of soup. I asked the girl what were her most popular soups, and she suggested the vegetable beef barley so I ordered it! My husband ordered the clam chowder and a hot pastrami for his meal. The turkey sandwich was delicious but it could have came with a little more meat. The soup though.... Great choice it was fire!!! Huge chunks of beef, and soft flavorful veggies! Wow so glad I took her advice! The broth was so yummy and packed with flavor. The pastrami was really good as well they did pack that one with meat. The clam chowder was not good. My husband had to change it for the chicken and rice. The chicken and rice was good as well not as good as the vegetable beef but had loads of chicken chicks and rice and veggies. Haven't been here in the recent months but my husband pointed out today that Donza's was added to the business name while we were eating our food. He guessed it was under new management. The tuna sandwich I had, I didn't finish, the pickles in there were good but the tuna salad itself was okay. The raspberry drop cookies are still there and I grabbed a few along with the chocolate drops but didn't eat them yet. My husband said his brooklyn bridge sandwich didn't taste the same as before and his chilli was more soupy. The potato salad seems to be the same but the mac salad doesn't have the same seasoning as this used to one of my favorites. I hope the broasted chicken hasn't changed, may come back to confirm. read more

I was intrigued when I was yelping around and I saw a name change from Old World Deli to Donza's Old World Deli. I had to check it out for myself to see what changed. Per staff I heard that the business has been recently acquired. But fans rest assured, it has been taken over by close friends of the original owners so they have kept a lot of the original vision and all of their recipes, with some minor modern touches like having an Instagram. The Old World Deli is my beloved home town Italian deli. I come here any time I need some Soup ($5.50), Eggplant Parmegiana ($18.25), or Lasagna ($18.25) and always always adding the garlic bread no matter what I'm ordering. I always have to get extra garlic bread because my dad loves that garlic bread too. Pricing has increased throughout the years, but I don't mind paying the price to support a local mom and pop shop. I was excited to check out this place with all the reviews I heard about it. Being from New York, very skeptical about delis in California. Unfortunately, when I walked in there was nothing on the shelves that look good and the deli counter was maybe on par with stater Brothers as far as salads go. The icing on the cake was when I ordered an eggplant Parmesan sandwich and when I got home, it was egg salad. The guy behind the counter baby should've realized that the bread it was served on wasn't a roll that should've gave him the clue.
