I wanted to give this place a try despite the 3 1/2 stars. Don't waste your money. The plain donut holes were good but everything else tasted of acetone. AND I got 4 donuts and 6 donut holes and it was $20! never in my life have I paid that much for this type of donut. Not impressed. Very disappointed. As newbies to the area we thought we would try to find a great donut place. First off, a half dozen donut holes and one frosted donut was very expensive for the quality. Second, we had to throw the donuts away because they tasted disgusting. Weird chemical/oil taste that took forever to get rid of. Incredible flavor. very fresh. yes, it is a few dollars per donut. however, they are huge. They are so fresh and by far one of the best donuts I've ever tasted. They are filling donuts. I tried an apple fritter, which was the best of my life. Coconut was amazing. A bear claw was incredible. You just can't go wrong. I will not return to this donut shop. Not only has the cost gone up, the quality of the donuts is worse then average in my opinion. I bought 2 old fashioned chocolate, 1 cinnamon roll and a dozen donut holes and cost me $19.60, I should have walked out. The chocolate on the donuts had a wierd taste, the cinnamon roll was hard as a rock, and the donut holes were firm and had an odd taste to them....maybe like old oil or frying in oil other then donuts. Service is great, but the donuts were not. I bought 1 chocolate bar and 2 sprinkles. All 3 have a weird taste. Tastes like a nail salon/nail polish remover. I come from a long line of donut connoisseurs. I've been eating donuts ever since I can remember. I've tried just about every kind/brand of donut out there. Honestly the woman who runs the place is a lot like the Soup Notsee (pardon the spelling-filters) from Seinfeld. The prices here now rival Donut Country in Murfreesboro (which is worlds better) but with that price I can say you don't want to see a couple small little insects feasting on your donuts on display. If you get a dozen, you may have 8 that are pretty decent and the others may taste like they've been cooking next to something else. Just too inconsistent at the moment. I have been coming to Doughnut Palace for years when I was visiting family and am now so excited to live so close! All of the food is made fresh and the owner takes pride in her creations. They have a large variety of pastries and drinks. Pro tip: Ask for samples!!! I would have never picked some of the best doughnuts just because of their names (i.e. Mango). Cons: There is very limited seating and it's always busy. Totally worth staying in your pjs and bringing the doughnuts home to enjoy. read more

I'm with Angela Z on the "palace". Reviews really high (4.5 stars) at the time, and arriving at the mini strip mall I was in donut sweet heaven. I was with a buddy, so we grabbed a couple each to go. The donuts were good, but I couldn't get over the place: messy display and neglect, with tables dirty. Get a scrub brush and some Ajax, and get to work. Everytime my work orders they donuts they taste like nail polish. I never understood why and thought I was crazy until I went to pick it up one day and saw it is right next to a nail saloon. My quest for quality donuts had taken me about 30mi radius from Nashville where I've finally begun to find them. Not sure why Nashville and immediate surrounding area are so sparse compared to my time on the west coast... Anyway, the Spring Hill Donut Palace is the closest I've come to the Old Fashioned donuts I've been missing in texture and taste, they are excellent (I think their chocolate glaze is my favorite so far)! The Old Fashioned donuts at M&E's in Smyrna are richer and surprised me; however, the Spring Hill Donut Palace's are exactly what I've been missing for years!
