Located near the square in Columbia (and open on a Sunday!), this unique donut parlor offers plenty of seating in large bright room, creating a comfy fun atmosphere. Starting with a yeast donut base shaped like a triangle, you then add frosting, toppings & a drizzle. There are also cinnamon rolls (our favorite), rosy bars & cookies, plus a limited breakfast/brunch menu. If your sweet tooth & taste buds are up to the challenge, they also offer burgers with donuts as the bun.

    Delicious Hangover Breakfast!

Fresh fruit and a donut sandwich made maple syrup, egg ,cheese and jalapeño ranch. This restaurant is so great. We started with a sourdough orange roll. It was large enough to serve three adults and was served warm and delicious. We then each ordered a breakfast and were so impressed with the quality and freshness of their meals. They even had refreshment towels for us to use after our meals. We will be back and will tell others.

We visited this local pie shop downtown Columbia for a mid-day snack on Saturday. The exterior has…read morebeen recently painted and renovated complete with a new facade color and letters! It looks great! Upon arrival, we spotted a case of about 4-5 different pies. Some were whole pies and others had slices cut out. There was nobody at the counter and there was not really a sign explaining how they sale. A lady sitting at the window behind the kitchen asked "Do you need something? Are you getting a pie?" oddly, and didn't seem eager to help. Once she came around, we each (a family of three), got a single slice of pie and bottled drink. The total was $35. It felt a little steep for the size of pie and quality of service. Since we were out shopping and it was raining outside, it was also disappointing they only had one table inside to eat at-- which was occupied. I feel they could add another table or two near the front window-- or even a counter against the wall with stools. Service could also be better. I got the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup pie. It was a traditional fudge pie with peanut butter drizzle across the top. It tasted very fresh and yummy. The pie crust had a great taste and the peanut butter was a nice addition to the rich and creamy fudge pie. I would return!

The online reviews for Pie Sensations are polarizing, either exalting the praises of this…read moreaward-winning pie shop with a five-star review or panning the place for being overrated. Realistically, I think it ranks somewhere in between, hence the four stars. At $8.78 per slice. including tax, the quality matches the price considering the cost of ingredients these days. Pie Sensations has quite the reputation in Middle Tennessee. It's located on the southwest corner of the adorable, vibrant square in Columbia, sandwiched between A Balloon Shop and Daniel's Barber Shop. You won't see the sign until you walk right up to the store. Delicious smells of baking pies fill this charming, deceivingly roomy space with a counter in front of the tiny kitchen, a display case, and a few tables. Personally, I'm a pie crust hater as it's often brittle and flavorless. But the crust at Pie Sensations is really good, perfectly flaky and complementary to the pies. I actually at the entire crust which is rare! There are two types of pecan pie in this world. Some prefer the rigid, thicker filling. Others like a gooey, almost liquid interior. While I prefer the thicker version, the very runny pecan pie at Pie Sensations was admittedly tasty, although not my preferred texture. It's properly sweet but not overly done with high quality and very fresh ingredients. The chess pie has that quintessential flavor of a southern classic, maybe not sweet enough for my taste but delicately balanced flavor for all palates. Their top seller, the chocolate turtle pie, was a bit too chocolatey for my personal preference. But again, the quality is obvious with a thick chocolate filling topped with caramel and pecans. While I wouldn't drive the hour from Nashville to Columbia again just to eat a slice of pie at Pie Sensations - unlike other remarkable destinations to which I'll eagerly drive three or four hours - I would encourage anyone near Columbia to sample this delicious and expertly made product! If you're in the area, it's a nice stop for dessert.

We found out from a local that this location is an up and coming arts district. Across the street is more seating. The market inside is very small and quaint. The young lady at the counter was very polite and helpful. My husband and I ordered sandwich's; he got the muffuletta (did not get a picture, but he said it was very good), and I got the Country Fire (pictured). I knew as soon as I saw "chicken cutlet" and mozzarella, this sandwich was for me. It was very toasty, cheesy, and flavorful. The bomba gave it an extra kick. They have MANY desserts. Tiramisu is my absolute favorite dessert. It was light with a ton of espresso which I loved. The little chocolate was a nice little touch. My husband got the crème brûlée cheesecake with raspberries on top (he ate it before I got a picture). He said it was very creamy.and delicious. Would love to stop and eat here again!

The sandwiches were definitely worth the ride & those cannoli were the best we've had since leaving NY. We took a box of assorted cookies to take home, included lemon drops (wife's favorite). We tried the egg salad, chicken salad, the viral hot cocoa with the peppermint marshmallow, plus a few bakery treats because obviously we have no self-control. That cocoa??? Unreasonably good. Like I'd go back just for that. They had kid sizes too, which is a major plus. They've got patio seating, which is always a yes, and the staff was super friendly even while moving at full-speed. It's a bit cramped inside, but everything about it is gorgeous. A quaint, charming tea room. My ONLY complaint and this is truly nit-picky is that I wish my biscuit had been warmed up. Will definitely return!

I LOVE a good bakery and I am kinda spoiled by over 30 years in San Francisco, where there is a great one every few blocks. I just found all the photos on my phone and realized I had not reviewed this place from last month's mini vacation. And honestly I know we got like 4 things for 4 of us to take home and snack on for the next day or so, but I don;t recall all the things we got EXCEPT for the white almond frosted cake(slice, but in a round shape). Everyone agree it was the one to beat, and not to take the crown, but it was the one that I chose. This reminds me that I need to find all the bakeries near me now that do "cake tasting" boxes and just treat myself every once in a while!!

With an impressive 4.77 rating across all user-driven platforms online (108 total votes and…read morecounting), you would imagine Fresh Donuts would live up to the hype. On paper - actually on an Excel spreadsheet I created - those scores rank them as the third best donuts in Middle Tennessee! Having now eaten at the entire top 25 donut spots, I can provide my impartial review. I found this tiny, unassuming shop in a strip mall with no sign. Unlabeled with a lackluster, no-frills interior, you'll find the secret store adjacent to a Fantastic Sam's southwest of downtown Columbia. In the first few bites, I realized that the donuts at Fresh Donuts were shockingly mediocre for such lofty ratings. But you must consider that a Columbia 4.77 isn't a Nashville 4.77. In a smaller town with fewer bakery options, ratings are always going to be skewed higher. That's true throughout the country. To pull off a 4.77 in Nashville is nearly impossible unless you have a really special product that distinguishes itself among some serious competition! So you must temper your expectations in a town of fewer than 50,000. The maple frosted donut here, my favorite donut flavor, wasn't bad. But it struck me as average and unremarkable. The cinnamon twist wasn't as light and airy as some of the exemplary versions you'll find in Nashville, and the cinnamon was nearly undetectable. While the donuts were fresh even in the late afternoon with a dwindling supply, which is impressive and lives up to the name Fresh Donuts, I wouldn't make this a destination for Nashvillians who are thinking of driving an hour down to Columbia. If you happen to be in Columbia, yes, this is a good stop for donuts. But don't make a road trip out of it just to sample what are allegedly the third-best donuts in the region. They simply aren't what the ratings imply, and I made the trip so you wouldn't have to.
