Went yesterday morning and I want to go again today lol. It's always clean not a lot of seating but I don't mind I usually just grab and go anyway. I had a cronut (croissant doughnut) and a banh mi sandwich and they were both delicious! Definitely recommend customer service is always good and it takes about 10mins to get a fresh sandwich. read more

The woman who took our orders got my banh mi wrong. No biggie, I asked if I could get it without the pate. She said I ordered it with pate and started showing me the receipt where she put the order in wrong. My friends confirmed I asked for no pate when ordering. She went back to remake it, shouting loudly about me the whole time to someone else back there. Brought the sandwich back and dropped it on the table. We all got different boba drink flavors, yet somehow they all tasted the same and way too sweet. I miss the bay area. read more

A nice little old school mom n pop joint with the old vinyl booths and original everything, just about. This is the kind of doughnut shop I love. They have "Asian coffee" on the menu, which I will assume is Vietnamese but I didn't order it because I was already fully caffeinated myself. A local donut place which also sells incredible banh-mi. Very straightforward, you order at the counter and they have two tables you can sit at while you wait or if you choose to eat there. People tend to take their donuts/ banh mi to go. I always get the z5 which is the grilled pork sausage and I ask for everything on it, meaning the pickled carrots/daikon, jalapeno, etc. z1 which is their combo cold cut pork is solid too for cold cut fans. I love a banh-mi place that has great bread to filling ratio and this place is consistent with the quality of their sandwiches. I feel like this place is so underrated as a place to grab lunch. Their sandwiches and drinks are SO bomb. I've tried a lot of their foods but my fav I always go back to is the Chinese bbq pork sandwich no jalapeños. Their blended drinks with boba are yum too! I like their honeydew. I like to call ahead to order when I can and always pick up. Their service is always fast. There's not a of seating space inside. Maybe two booths free now. Their donuts are also good. Ordered 3 banh mi sandwiches. 2 combo pork and 1 BBQ pork. Love the bread! Fresh, crispy and crunchy. However, the overall sandwich was just okay. Mostly vegetables (lots of shredded carrots). If they could be just a little more generous on the meat, I think I would definitely buy again. read more

Ever since becoming addicted to boba after living in Davis and Sac, I've been on the hunt for a great boba place in Merced. Hands down, Donut King is the best place for boba. Here, the boba is always soft and fresh tasting, with consistent texture no matter if you come in the morning or night. Expect to wait a bit for your order to be ready. However, this is only because there's quite the number of customers and they make everything fresh! I've tried their donuts and sandwiches as well. Sandwiches are about 6inches long and absolutely delicious. My favorite is the Vem Nuong Pork but you can't go wrong with any of them read more

If you go to donuts king please get a mango milk tea they are delicious and great size you won't regret their boba you won't get this anywhere else . They do need some upgrading inside it's a bit ghetto but the tea is very well worth it customer service is great but they could use a smile :) it is a bit priced I do get a grande size cup for the price of a venti that's for sure but can't get enough read more

This review is just for the boba, though I'd love come back to try their banh mi when I'm in the area again! Came here on a really hot day (pretty much any day in Merced, honestly) wanting a drink. We got a honeydew smoothie and a strawberry smoothie, both with boba pearls, since they were out of watermelon that day. They have an extra $0.50 charge for using a card. The drinks were more on the fast food milkshake-y side rather than an actual fruit smoothie, and were a bit sweet and artificial-tasting for me. However, the pearls themselves were cooked perfectly, which is one of the biggest pluses for me with regular boba pearls; even the best boba places are inconsistent in the texture of the cooked pearls sometimes. Overall, the drinks were still refreshing, and while they would be a Bay Area 2.5-3 star, I'd consider this a solid Merced 4. read more

BEST BANH MI Absolute hidden gem for Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwiches. Starting with fresh baked baguette, which is a must for a superior bahn mi. Only place that offer whole wheat baguette. Huge plus. Not, ironically for the donuts (although I'm sure they're perfectly delicious), but rather for their absolutely phenomenal Vietnamese-style sandwiches. In delicate pillows of freshly baked bread, they stack your choice of meat with fresh, crunchy lightly pickled veggies (carrots, cucumber, cilantro) with a generous dollop of mayo (? Or mayo-like spread?). Sandwiches are a wonderful combo of warm, perfectly seasoned and tender meat of your choice (BBQ pork, chicken or tofu), with the cool, and crunchy Vietnamese "slaw". SO DAMN GOOD. Oh and to top it all, very sweet and accommodating staff.
