I have been going to this place since 2014. They have a large variety of Donuts, Croissant sandwiches, Bagels - all baked fresh daily. They also serve Coffee, Icecreams, Smoothies, and Tea. this is much better than any shop I have ever visited. Kept clean, abide by Covid-19 guidelines and the owner and workers are very cordial. Service is fast. Before seating was available but due to the pandemic now it is only take-out. Must try sometime. read more

I don't always eat donuts, but when I do, I pretty much always go to Stan's Donut Shop in Santa Clara. But every now and then, I try to stop by other donut places to see how they compare to Stan's. I was in Mountain View early one morning and was hungry for some breakfast. As soon as I saw this place from the street, I pulled in and decided to try it out. To begin with, it's located in a small, somewhat sketchy shopping center. However, I saw several people come in and out, as well as people eating inside, so everything seemed promising thus far. As soon as you walk in, you'll notice the enormous variety of donuts behind the glass. Every single type of donut imaginable was sitting there just waiting to be eaten. My personal favorite is glazed, so I went ahead and ordered one. The price? $0.85. And, let me tell you, although this donut was still nowhere near as good as the glazed donuts at Stan's, it still tasted fresh and was, overall, a pretty damn good donut for such a cheap price. They also make sandwiches and serve coffee. You can sit down and eat too, as there are tables and chairs inside. Overall, it's a decent place to get donuts. 4 stars read more

Best glazed donuts, ever. The goodness of every other plain donut is compared to the Donut Basket glazed donuts. I don't know what it is, but their donuts have an extra oomph. I've been coming to this donut store since when I lived Mountain View in 1993. Needless to say, Donut Basket glazed donuts put Krispy Kreme to shame. Marty's Donuts and Star's Donuts & Coffee of Sunnyvale and Stan's Donut Shop of Santa Clara come a close second for glazed donuts. Then everyone else comes next. The other specialty donuts (like buttermilk bars and apple fritters), pastries and breakfast sandwiches are nothing to write home about, but they are OK. Another thing I like is that the store always has a wide selection of juices and soft drinks. Since they sell donuts to roach coaches (aka lunch catering trucks to people with taste) and other businesses, they are open super early. I think I've seen people in there as early as 5 am. The donut store is in a little strip mall with a taqueria, latino clothing store, liquor store and sandwich shop (either Subway or Quisnos, I can't remember which). So you'll have to keep your eyes open to see it. Across the street is an Arco Gas station and kitty corner is the famous La Costena Custom Burritos. read more

I've tried every donut spot in the area being I grew up in Palo Alto. Hands down this one has the best donuts. Happy donuts went downhill lately and Krispy Kreme is way too rich. Now this isn't the nicest looking place but I don't go to sit down and eat. I really enjoy this donut shop. I've never stayed and eaten since I've usually stopped in on my way to work. The 2 girls that run the place are good and very sweet. About 2 weeks ago I ordered the wrong donut for a friend and went back to get the correct one and they actually just gave it to me and told me I could pay next time since I'm a "regular." My wife and I went for breakfast on a weekday. For some reason I found it a bit tricky to find. I its in a strip mall right on the corner. The place is really more oriented towards "to-go" orders. There are only 4 tables in the place. Parking should not be a problem. It is in a strip mall, but there seems enough space probably regardless of time of day. Ambiance...well, there isn't any. It is a donut shop. I do not look at this as a negative because I do not expect otherwise. In this respect this place is no different than the other doughnut shops we have been too. Service.....It is counter service so this doesn't really have a rating. I will say the staff was sweet, courteous, and friendly and smiled. Price.... Inexpensive. We had two coffee and 6 doughnuts for about $11. Your not going to do better. Food... Very good. They had 9 different types of coffee. I have never seen this variety in a doughnut store. Come to think of it, even in a restaraunt. I found the doughnuts to be very, very good. I had chocolate old fashioned and it was nice. Cinnamon roll was excellent. Apple fritter was EXCELLENT. Solid variety of doughnuts and other breakfast foods. More on the fast food side rather than dine in. I found place a little dirty... crumbs and stains on tables, floors, and service area. They need to do some regular cleaning. Not a major criticism, but they need to do more. I would come back if I were in the area. read more

How is it possible in this land of plenty that the Bay Area seems to have only one generic donut shop? I mean, these are exactly the same donuts that you get everywhere. Been going here for 3 years now and I'm still addicted to their croissant sandwiches. I like mines with mayo only and extra pepper. I've also recently discovered their blueberry cake donuts are hella good. If you're ordering a sandwich, definitely call your order in ahead of time, as they will get busy in the morning and they have a small staff. This is a little hole-in-the-wall shop that has a bit of a grungy feel to it. But the donuts are pretty darn good, so I'm willing to overlook the decor/sometimes-surly service. Cake donuts are great here, and their crumb donut is outstanding (probably one of the best crumbs on the peninsula - and crumb is not usually one of my favorite types of donut!). BTW - I LOVE DONUTS. If I see a donut shop I haven't been to before, I must try it. I also feel like Krispy Kremes are NOT donuts. They are sugar bombs and nowhere near as good as a bakery-fresh traditional donut. these are the rudest people I know... I go in there before work almost every morning, n the girls that work there are rude to costumers!! I asked for a specific donut n about 3 times they always gave me the wrong ones i leave with out checking.. went back and addressed it and she had a fit.. it's your mistake not mine I told her can you get it right next time? i went in again, different girl, she added my coffee cuz that's all I wanted, she rang it up, i payed for it, then decided I wanted two donuts... so she rang up both orders together after I just payed for the coffee I told her I payed for the coffee n she almost blew my head off!! bottom line they are just rude and grouchy.. UPDATED: Today I had an experience at Donut Basket that was enough to make me not come back again. Ever. I ordered a dozen donuts and stayed to eat one with my young daughter. While we were sitting there an elderly man (I think they called him Jim) came in and was helped by an asian man I haven't seen there before (we come in a couple of times a month, generally). Jim, let's say, asked the male worker if they had bearclaws and he said no, so Jim moved on to getting a crumb donut instead while looking in his wallet and walking to the register. He didn't notice that the donut the worker grabbed had been squashed on the tray rack between the glass and the tray. I was sitting directly in front, facing the food display and could see the whole thing, and watched as the worker smirked and had Jim pay for the donut. I told the hispanic woman who has helped me numerous times before what had happened, verified that donuts are NOT supposed to be sold from there, and went and sat down to finish my (unusually stale) donut. She didn't go talk to the other worker, but they were a little busy at the moment and so I waited and watched to see how they resolved it. Well, unfortunately, she didn't. She said nothing to anyone. So, after there were no customers for a few minutes I went and spoke to the woman again and asked why they didn't fix it. She said she didn't understand what I had said (even though she had indicated she had before), so I explained it again, and asked why nothing was being rectified. At that point, the male worker walked over, was told what was going on, and he said that he didn't see it--while smirking again! There is NO way you can't tell that that donut wasn't damaged bc it was squashed and was sitting an inch or so lower than the other donuts next to it, and I said so, and asked why didn't they give Jim a free donut or refund or fix the situation at all? That's when the man smirked AGAIN and said "well, he ate it already." I'm not sure what this guy is about...I don't know if it's because it was an elderly customer or because they were embarrassed, **but if I can't trust them to sell me clean food, then I am NEVER going back** and I asked for a refund on my donuts I just bought. I tried to pay for the two donuts and milk we had eaten, but they pulled my receipt and gave me a full refund despite my asking to pay. I'm wondering if they're going to keep it or trash it so there's no record. **SO THEY SOLD AN ELDERLY REGULAR CUSTOMER A DIRTY DONUT, AND WOULDN'T EVEN TELL HIM OR FIX IT AT ALL, BUT WOULD REFUND AT LEAST 4X THAT TO GET ME OUT OF THE STORE BECAUSE I SAW IT AND COMPLAINED** I can't trust the food quality now, or the integrity of the employees, so I won't be coming back. I used to recommend this place to everyone I knew and now they'll be hearing the opposite. Stay away if you want to make sure your food is clean and safe! This is basically the ONLY place we've bought donuts for the last 6 years, so for me to stay away from this place is not just some piddly thing. OLD: I LOVE this place and have been coming here for at least 6+ years. I had intense chocolate-cake-donut-with-sprinkles cravings with my second baby, so we were constantly getting donuts here. I asked my husband to bring in donuts for the nurses when my son was born and the staff at Donut Basket included an extra chocolate one for the baby! How sweet is that?! So, something major would have to happen for me to not come here anymore. As for the donuts, they taste the way I think donuts should, the pricing is great, and I love that there are always a collection of older people there in the mornings with their coffee and donuts. This is just a great, welcoming place to be. I went back a week or so ago after having not been for much longer than that and they mentioned that they hadn't seen me in a while. And my husband and I have never been in there at the same time, so I don't even think they recognize I'm the lady that ate all their chocolate cake donuts for about nine months. We've also ordered from here for school functions. The prices were good and we only had to place our order for about 400+ donut holes the day before we wanted to pick them up. Today my friend went into the Donut Basket...ready to enjoy an apple fritter. It was about 8:30 am and she was expecting it to be fresh and delicious. She even asked if they were baked this morning! The owner's response was, "I swear I made them this morning." My friend, K. came in to work looking forward to eating a delicious treat first thing before starting the work day. Not to be...it was burnt and hard. She called the shop to let the owner know she was disappointed and the owner hung up on her. Now, not many customers would get back in their car and drive back for a $1.50 donut....But K. was absolutely pissed off that it was stale and the owner was so rude. Back in the car...back to the the Donut Basket and back to the owner the apple fritter went. Did the owner apologize or offer another treat? NOPE...she took it from K. and put it back on the shelf and threw the money at her insisting it was fresh. Came here for cinnamon bun donut and a maple bar around 11:00am and could already see they had sold out of a lot of their stock which is a good sign. Huge donuts! It was about $1.50 per donut which I initially thought seemed a bit high but they are very good and much bigger than your average donut. Really liked the mom and pop feel and glad to see they're doing well judging by how quickly they sell out of their delicious donuts. read more

Unfortunately, I was not very satisfied with my donut or donut hole. I got an old fashioned blueberry and had to throw it away. It tasted like dried out artificial blueberries and sugar. It was pretty dry and not very soft or fluffy. The donut holes were fine. They were also dry and hard on the outside - seemed a little stale to me. read more
