Our bacon and cheese omelets
Jeff M.

Small diner in a little strip shopping center. Not many tables and the instant vibe was that this place gets a lot of locals who come here often. We ordered bacon and cheese omelets with home fries and toast. Everything was cooked on the grill behind the counter so you actually could see your meal being prepared. The food was very good and brought to us pretty quick. Our waitress was extremely friendly as well. The only negative I have is that they do not take credit cards. Being from out of state, I just assumed everyone takes credit now. I had to use the ATM machine and of course was charged a service fee. I didn't see any type of sign stating cash only. It should be posted somewhere, and if it is, I missed it. But great little place overall.

Super fast service and much better than the big business restaurants. If you like small hometown feel, this place fits the bill!

Don't let the outside fool you.

Nice place for breakfast without the crowd. Just try not to sit by the door in the winter. It is quite breezy when it opens. Cash only.

Don's Diner is located in a small strip plaza, just north of the downtown area, serving up breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. Specials are offered including fresh seafood items and chowder. Breakfast only on Saturdays (9AM-12PM). The atmosphere inside is homey, a typical greasy spoon with counter seating, open grill area, and several tables. The walls are adorned with old cuckoo clocks, framed old posters of Leominster events, and plenty of antiques. Mass Lottery tickets are sold here too. I had a pretty good breakfast here very recently. The New England Coffee ($1.30) was good, brewed just right. I had 2 eggs (scrambled), home fries, homemade roast beef hash, and wheat toast ($5.75). The eggs were soft and fluffy, the home fries were fresh cut potatoes, grilled brown and slightly crisp on the outside. The roast beef hash was very good tasting (not salty), which had minced roast beef and shredded potatoes, The service was prompt and attentive. I was offered refills on the coffee, which was much needed to start off my day.

This place reminded me of Cheers. Friendly and those who entered where regulars and called by first name. This place is a 60s throw back. The four seasons big girls don't cry played in the background as the walls had nostalgia memorabilia. The food was average. The pancakes were probably the best part of my meal. I ordered a veggie omelette which was well done and had a little bit too much cheese. The coffee was so-so. I wanted to like this place a lot. However, it's average. The one good point is the friendly service. Which I enjoyed.

The people was very friendly nice cool old signs and vintage receipts on the wall. I rather have a real size menu to take a look at instead we got paper folded paper menu. The food was good and the price was cheap not bad. The chef and the waitress were really nice and friendly

Accepts cash only but does have ATM

Good food. Egg sandwich, omelette and pancakes were good. Home fries a little dry for my liking. Good prices. Would come back.

We had a phenomenal night of drinks, food, and legendary musicians at The Bull Run, Shirley, MA…read more(Apr 2026)! Their huge 275-seat event space was packed at tables for 4 to 8, for the two 1-hour sets of Live Dead & Brothers Band, an Allman Brothers - Grateful Dead group of legacy musicians from those bands and families!!! An authentic rockin' performance! They opened hot, with Feelin' Alright and Truckin', and ended hot with Midnight Rider, Ramblin' Man, and Jessica, with around 14 more between. The acoustics were excellent at our table, and we also took up our share of the crowded dance area :-) Their tour continues at least through Dec 2026. Our tickets were about $50 each. Service was fast and friendly, and they let us pull up one more chair for our group of nine. You can get crafted beers and cocktails. We settled in with ice cold regional beers, which honestly are just as distinctive as fancy craft beers. We got some food to share off their "concert menu", too. An entrée-size dish of rich creamy homemade Mac & Cheese, made with tasty aged Grafton Cheddar, soft slightly-al-dente curly Cavatappi pasta tubes, not-overcooked green beans, as i recall, crisply crusted with lightly-maple breadcrumbs. Very flavorful and satisfying. A sweet fresh bright Autumn Salad of greens, pecans, and bright beets, in tart vinaigrette. And juicy "Bull Run Classic" burgers with crisp lettuce, tasty firm tomato, mildly-sharp red onion, and, for one of them, an add-on of rich cheddar, all on a cloud-like brioche bun. They do ask for $20 per person food/beverage minimum for all shows, essentially an entree or a couple beverages each. That's about what we had planned to order anyway :-) This place knocked us out with their dedication to farm-to-table ingredients, sourced from more than 25 regional farms named on the dinner menu. We've never seem such an extensive list of the actual sources. Very cool! The Bull Run has been a tavern since 1741, named after the Battle of Bull Run in 1861, (or in another version, named for a brawl in the tavern at the same time :-), and has been run by the Guercios extended-family since 1946. It was a stop on the stagecoach route and a gathering place for the Revolutionary war. We loved the original wood, structure, and décor. The fireplaces were lovely. It's a huge venue. Bull Run has live music every week, and they're open Wed-Sun, but watch their schedule because dates vary, sometimes one day that week, sometimes all four! This show was in their 275-seat room. There's at least one larger room for around 400. Theres a little parking along Rt 2A, and much more out back across the covered bridge. Dont be put off by the rustic exterior. We loved this legendary performance at a legendary restaurant!
