I am "the" deli girl having grown up and lived in NYC, Brooklyn, Westchester County, west side LA and visiting the San Fernando Valley upteam times, plus Boston, San Francisco and Portland, OR. All good deli towns and cities people flock to eat, drink and be merry. A friend of mine had told me about Don's so I thought I would try it. Unfortunately, I was not impressed and way overcharged for a tuna sandwich with a bottle of water. With the tax and tip came to over $23.00. Come on -- I was expecting more of real deli, matzo ball soup, knishes, chopped liver, whitefish salad, maybe latke's, fresh dill pickles, a nice jewish rye bread ,- that type of thing - a little homemade potato salad, maybe even a german potato salad and cole slaw with fresh mixed cabbage and carrots. No none of that exists here at Don's - it's not really a deli as it's more of a high priced sandwich shop. Hey, even Publix deli makes a pretty mean sandwich with Boar's Head cold cuts at a reasonable price. The tuna was good, not great and plain, no chopped celery or onion at all - just bland, although albacore tuna. The bread was bad - not a deli hearty rye, floppy bread that could not hold the tuna and it was falling all over the place. I think it just actually store bought bread and not a fresh rye that has the hard crunchy crust with the rye seeds. So, the sandwich was not actually very desirable to eat because the bread could not hold the tuna, tomato or lettuce. No fresh dill pickles, actually no plate of pickles like you get a real deli - you know the "new" pickles very green crunchy, with the dill fresh cucumber taste. I did ask for extra pickles thinking they would have a deli pickle, but these were a mass produced pickle and tasted strange. When one of the wait staff came over and asked me how everything was, I commented on the pickel and said it was tasting weird. She said "I know, sometimes that happens." I questioned if they had other pickels and she said they all came out of the same container. So, you know the pickles taste off, yet you are serving them to customers. The side of coleslaw, more like a shooter size, was not good either. Beige in color, no depth and no taste. I will say they have an abundance of cheesecake selections - not sure how many slices they sell, with all the variation, or how long the cakes sit out, but there was many to choose from for dessert. Same with their Ice Cream and think gelato selections. They also have soup, however, I am thinking it's not homemade and probably comes in big bags or containers and is heated. And although they seemed to have a selection of about nine, no matzo ball or split pea. I am sad to say that this is not the deli experience I had hoped it would be, and don't believe I will return because Don's does not hold the traditional deli offerings or menu items that I am use to at a real deli. I will say the wait staff and other employees were very nice, welcoming and seemed genuinely nice. read more

So happy to see this new Deli open with delicious and filling meals- drink and side included-yay! Loved the "Conway" ham sandwich with a generous side of potato salad....but many great choices. Wonderful selection of meats and cheeses offered for purchase, with a comfortable eat-in dining area. Friendly and efficient staff make ordering a breeze. I'll definitely be back...ice cream to finish this time, next time I'll save room for for one of those tasty desserts. read more

As previous poster detailed this is not a true deli. Corned beef was fatty and had no taste, bread fell apart. Disappointed.

I stopped by today since Don's Deli is all the rage lately - I knew I had to try it. I ordered The Fredo - Roasted Turkey & Provolone for take-away. The sandwich was very good. I had to take half of the turkey off it just to fit it in my mouth! The tomatoes were fresh and the (white) bread was quite tasty. (They should really consider putting less meat on the sandwich and not charging as much - the price makes it unlikely I will return.) I asked for Cole Slaw, but when I opened up the cup when I got home, I saw that I had something that looked more like Pasta Salad - but it was not appetizing at all, and it quickly went in the trash. While I was waiting, I looked at the beautiful Cheesecakes and baked cakes on display at the counter. I was told the cakes are baked by a bakery in Charlotte. I was so looking forward to my cake for dessert. I should have chosen a cheesecake slice instead. My cake - the Chocolate Caramel - was dry & stale. The cake itself was like a dry crouton and the frosting had all of the air sucked out of it - it felt like I had a dry marshmallow or merengue in my mouth. It was probably baked last week and it sat in the cooler since then. The cake went straight in the trash, too. I spent $30.00 for the sandwich and cake (no beverage). The cake alone was $9.00. I wasn't offered a receipt - it would have been nice to see how much everything was individually. All-in-all, the trip was a disappointment. I don't think I can recommend this, and I probably won't be back. read more

Being a Conway local and always supporting local/new businesses, I can only say this...sadly very disappointed. One sammich of Boars Head deli meats to be shared by two (which was nicely stacked though on stale Hawaiian bread) one mini inni side of tater salad that was rather yuk (didn't get the 2nd mini inni side that was ordered), two cups of watery soup with crackers, two slivers of cheesecake (there were a few unmarked cakes as to flavors and had to be recited by the employee)...oh and a coffee cup soft drink for ONLY....$48.00!!!!. Plus, the store itself was uninviting to even eat in it...debris on floor, no wall menu just paper menus on counter (thank goodness I had my glasses). Ooops, forgot the plastic fork and a spoon was included but no napkins if we got messy eating in the car. Didn't try the cheesecake yet, hope it's good! This was definitely a one and done for us. Could have gone to lunch for two at a downtown Conway award winning restaurant with a cocktail for the same price. Good luck foodies! read more
