as a very new bicyclist I've been going here a bunch with questions about a bike trip I'm planning in Iceland. not sure the name of the guy at the front desk but he has always been very friendly and helpful, looking up products I might need. real mvp there. the bike shop folks in the back are surprisingly unsocial, I am used to happy ski/surf shop vibes but didn't get much friendliness or enthusiasm from them at all. Never have I dealt with a business and employees who lack common practical and fair business sense and a complete lack of ethics. I will preface this review by stating that Don's Bikes and the manager on duty could have easily rectified this situation and made a deal with a paying customer in the store (despite my negotiating and walking out for 30 seconds only to return to the store to accept their offer) but since they did not, here we are. I called Don's bikes on a Sunday to inquire as to whether they had a bike in stock. They confirmed they did and advised it was "used but in excellent condition" they agreed to put a "hold" on the bike for Monday. Due to work I was unable to drive the hour+ to the store to see a bike and instead came at my first availability the next day, Tuesday. The bike was still there and in great condition albeit priced higher than blue book value and I had previously been advised it was on the floor for 2 months without a sale. A salesman (Nate?) said his friend was interested in the bike also. I test drove the bike for about 10 minutes and returned to the store to negotiate. I was ignored for maybe 10 minutes and finally asked who was in charge to negotiate a deal. Adrian negotiated with Paul (manager) assistance and I made an aggressive offer on the condition it was not accepted I would walk. They countered very slightly higher and I walked out the door for all of 30 seconds (probably less) to put my sunglasses in my truck. I walked back into the store and stood at the front counter waiting for Adrian and Paul who had disappeared. They were relatively busy but nothing their staff couldn't handle. I walked back over to the bike and Nate and Adrian came over and Nate put a "SOLD" sign on the bike. I told him great, you sold it to me right? His response was no, I sold it to my buddy. You walked out of the store and I took a deposit from him and it's his. At this point I was thinking it was a joke. I told him no, I'm here in the store, I left for 20 or 30 seconds, was standing at the front desk and you sold it out from underneath me? He tried calling his 'friend' who he sold the bike to and his friend would not relinquish the sale. I told him I'm ready to pay you right now for our negotiated price and they wouldn't budge. They tried to up sell me to a $5000 bike when I told them I didn't drive an hour to buy that bike, I wanted the one I came here for. At this point Adrian and Nate brought over Paul and Paul quickly sided with his sales staff on the position with the defense of "well you walked out" and "we told you someone else wanted to buy it." BS. Some colorful language was exchanged and I walked out. Never before have I experienced such underhanded, unethical, slimy business tactics. These guys give used car salesmen a GREAT name and reputation. Dons Bikes had a ready and willing buyer to buy the bike from the store right there at my negotiated price and they completely leveraged my offer against another buyer via phone, unbeknownst to me and all in the span of maybe 2 minutes. As I said, here we are. I find solace in the fact that Nate's friend supposedly was willing to pay $150 more for the bike than I was and at that price he paid an $800 premium over market value. Such a great "friend". Instead of Paul, Adrian, Nate and Don's Bikes willingness to make good and not perform such shady business deals, I will now go out of my way to tell everyone about my experience. Never do business with this half rate bike shop again. From now on I'll keep my business local and with respectable and reputable shops who treat their customers fairly and ethically. read more

Don's is a Giant-affiliated shop, so that alone inclines me to patronize them to begin with. Regardless of affiliation, they've always treated me well. Most of my business with them has been through the shop, and they've always taken good care of my bikes for the various things I've needed done. Moreover, their pandemic turnaround times are so much better than other local shops. I've been quoted anywhere from a couple of weeks to a month at other shops, and my bikes have never been gone for more than a week and a half at Don's. I wish I could've bought my last bike from Don's -- I did try -- but unfortunately due to the screwed up distribution chains, they were unable to get a hold of the exact bike I wanted. I did happily buy two bikes for my daughter here! read more

The bike mechanic here who I met and worked with (unsure of name) was very keen at listening to my concerns on my Specialized MTB. He took what another shop chopped and recreated an incredible fix and at minimal cost to me. He even had a great bedside manner and talked shop with me for a few minutes about products, different trails in the area to explore and genuinely connected with me as a cycling enthusiast. Two is the very best I can do. Initial phone consult with the Rialto branch and subsequent purchase went smoothly, probably also a wee bit due to the fact that I knew which bike I wanted. Came into the shop this evening to get a quick tuneup on my road bike as well as look at different cycling shoes and different types of seats. Adrian was very helpful and courteous as well as professional along with plenty of patience and assisted me in picking out what seat I would like to place on my bike, as well as a new pair of cycling shoes. So incredibly rude! I am trying to find out how to convert my beach cruiser into an e-Bike so I called to ask if they could help me. The guy on the phone told me its fine if I want to order a kit online but first he told me I could bring my bike in and they could help me get the measurements so I would know what to order--just brought my bike in: everyone tells me they can't help me, they completely said no to even selling me one from them. No one helped me measure my bike no one offered me any tips on types of kits to get--they gave me a website to go to... like I haven't already been doing that! This was just a complete waste of time! My girlfriend is so picky. You don't know what I go through when she makes a large purchase. We have to do research online. Then we have to go and visit multiple stores and test out the merchandise. Then we do more research on the internet to read reviews. We called several bike shops in the area. We went through all that and more to buy her a bicycle so we could ride together. We went to Don's twice to test ride bikes. I ain't gonna lie, we checked out the department stores to compare. I can't tell you which ones, but they rhyme with Parget, Ball-mart and Shears. Then we went to some sports stores rhyming with Big-Jive and Sport Ballet. With the exception of Sport Ballet, the quality of bikes don't even compare. You're going to get a much better bike at Don's... you're also going to pay more money. But you do get what you pay for. Now you might hear someone say that there's only like four bicycle manufacturers in the world (of course they're in China) and they make all the same bikes in the same factory. That may be true, but they don't use the same materials and components for the bikes. There's a low end and a high end market for bikes. Don's sells the medium to high end. They're philosophy is to get you into a bike and make you a bicyclist. They build customers through superior service and products. I brought in my old bike and had them tune it up for me for $70. It really needed it. They took the time to show me how to change a bicycle inner tube in case I get a flat on the road. The staff are very informative, very patient, and very professional. read more

"I'm going to get less fat," I said to myself as I jumped on my $200 bike from Target. After a flat tire, janky brakes, and loads of slipping gears kept me from going more than a mile, I thought about never exercising again. EVER. But, then I remembered how being fat is whack and that I wanted to get less fat. I also wanted minimal hassle and maximum radness. I reminisced about the amazingness of my old Dyno Bazooka, a single speed BMX bike that I could just hop on, pedal, and GO. I wanted that, but in a big boy size. So, I went to Don's Bikes to get myself a dreaded fixie. Mentally prepared to be ridiculed for not getting a carbon fiber bike that weighs four ounces and cost more than my Kia, I was relieved when I encountered no such thing. Travis was a champ, helping guide me and my wife through the process, checking our height, what we wanted in a bike, and even how we wanted the handlebars wrapped. We ended up ordering some bikes from Don's site, which were delivered to the store in a couple of days and expertly assembled before we got there. We checked them out and they were beautiful. Before we left, we were told that it was store policy to have a second bike mechanic double-check everything, which ruled. Jason did his thing quickly, but thoroughly, ensuring we didn't die on our first bunny hop. In the end, we rode out of there with two bikes that were perfect from the get-go. I can't recommend this place enough. Friends buy their bikes here for mountain and road. They speak about the fast service (lifetime) when Purchased the bikes at Don's. Always welcoming and smiling. You'll even see them on the roads too- so they ride like you do and know which products work well with your needs. They practice when they preach. Test road a carbon road bike and ended up ordering an upgrade and larger frame than the one on the floor. Weekly updates on the status of the order and upgraded Mavic wheelset. Basic eyeball fit when you walk out the door with it. I was in my scrubs so when I actually took it out for a ride, I brought my tool to make adjustments on the ride. Nice guys here- Jason, Travis, Sergio, Adrian doesn't mind my "blonde" moment questions. I've brought the bike back a couple of times for minor front derailer and disc brakes adjustments... Better they tweek the bike than I turn the screws the wrong way. Pricey but that's the price point anyway when buying a carbon disc shimano dura ace component bike... They had to order it so the steeper discount will only Be if they have it stock-- true for any other bike shop too. I'm 5'3" and they had a small frame for me to test ride. Parking is not a problem here and changing room/ bathrooms available if you want to start your group rides here. My friend and I even stop by so they can pump air in her tires-- it's like cheers here and everyone knows your name. read more

My family ended up spending A LOT OF MONEY because of Paul. He was just following me around the store and would not leave me alone! He had 100 answers to each question I asked, kept luring me into buying stuff by offering discounts after discounts!
