We arrived with a group of 6 at around 5:15pm on Friday. Business was good but tables were available and we were seated quickly. My Manhattan from the bar was excellent. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, and took our order promptly. We didn't have to wait long, which was good because we had to energetic kids with us. Enjoyed the salad bar which has potato salad, Cole slaw and baked beans on Fridays. Potato salad and Cole slaw were excellent, beans basic. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. I had 2 perch fillets with a light crispy batter and a baked potato and sour cream. The perch was delicious and I haven't seen perch fillets this big in a long time. We split some schaum tort with the kids because they didn't know if they'd like it. They did! Next time they want their own. Very pleased with the experience overall. Our restaurant meetup group went there for supper. There were 5 of us. I had a filet steak with crinkle cur fries which i enjoyed alot. Meal came with soup and salad. Soup was chicken enchilada and was good. Salad was good too. 2 had prime rib. One looked gristly and was apparently hard to cut and was cold before she even ate 1/3 of it. She wont go back. One had scallops but was disappointed with the cocktail sauce. Of the 5 of us only i was really happy. The staff were friendly, bartenders great. Our server was very nice. If it was just me i would give 4 stars but based on the other 4 i have to knock it down a notch. Personally i would go back. The others would not. The place is cute and i guess we had hoped for a great meal like we had when it was called Donny's Girl. Now its just Donny's. I guess his girl got kicked to the curb. read more

Extremely poor service. The food was mediocre at best, due to the poor service. When this was brought to the attention of management they declined to follow up with us and then later claimed that they had! I'd sure like to know who they talked to because it wasn't us. We've been going there for years but something has sure gone downhill. We won't go back to a restaurant that treats its customers so badly. And that saddens us. We always enjoyed Donny's before. We are avid "Supper Club" diners. We looked through our supper club book for some place new.... WOW our choice of Donny's Girl II Supper Club was a FANTASTIC choice! We arrived early Sunday to have a drink in the bar - we were greeted like family when we walked in (little did we know it was Fred, The Chef and Jen The Manager/Bartender!! We had great conversation with Jen at the bar regarding the restaurant and its history along with travel and the area. She thoughtfully brought us to our table for dinner and introduced us to our server, Kim. Again, had wonderful service and conversation with Kim. She was attentive, friendly and just all around a great server. After we raved about the fresh and wonderful salad bar, the amazing meal (I had the 16oz Prime Rib special and my husband had the Duck) The food was so flavorful, hot and there was A LOT of it. Your dinner includes soup, salad bar, bread and your meal with veggie and a potato choice! It was more food than we could eat but happily brought home leftovers! My husband loved the pea soup so much he brought more home! Kim let Chef Fred know how much we were enjoying our meal that he came out to say hello and we were able to tell him personally how much we enjoyed the food and service. Not horrible but not great and I will likely not return to give it a second shot. I've been making my way through the list of WI supper clubs and this was pretty blah. The atmosphere was creepy basement vibes. Our waitress was not the best - she messed up the bill and sent our food to the wrong table, but she was friendly. The salad bar was ok, nothing special. My steak was well seasoned and cooked just how I asked. The rest of the food was super average and you could get at any bar. Nice out of the way supper club. I made reservations and came with our group on a Friday night. When I got there I was told they didn't take reservations so they shouldn't have allowed me to do that and that it would be a wait and they would seat us as soon as they could. We waited about 10-15 minutes and were seated. I ordered a brandy old fashioned which I assumed would be good here. Unfortunately it was very watered down and there was no muddling going on. Too bad. We really liked the cole slaw and potato salad they brought family style, very tasty. I had the fish fry and chicken platter. The fish was really good, one of the better fish fries I've had. The fish had a super thin breading so it wasn't very heavy or greasy. The chicken was good too. The fries it came with however looked and tasted like something off a Sysco truck. With 1 star I'm being generous. We had a 5:30 reservation, arrived about 5:05, plenty of empty tables available yet they made us wait until 5:30 to be seated. The hostess, who is also the co-owner with her husband, was busy chatting with people at the bar, sometimes ignoring other guests who showed up. Finally seated and immediately greeted by our waitress, Shannon. She took our drink order, we both had soda, and we looked over the menu. The 2 dining rooms were fairly busy. Our drinks arrived and we placed our order; both ordered the 8oz filet, Linda's medium with baked potato, mine well done and ok given to butterfly with wild rice. I skipped the soup choices but Linda took the vegetable beef soup which had little beef and lots of peas, 2 spoonfuls taken, 2 too many, almost all it was peas. The salad bar had many selections and is probably the highlight of the evening, also the loaf of bread brought to the table was fresh and very tasty. We then began the wait for our dinners and finally they arrived about 25 minutes later. In the meantime we both asked for refills of our soda. Linda cut into her steak and it was medium well, not the medium she ordered. My steak was butterflied and I cut into mine, 1/2 the steak was medium rare, the other 1/2 was medium well. We switched meals with each other and also told our waitress and the female co-owner that our meals weren't prepared the way we ordered them. They both sort of shrugged and walked away never acknowledging our displeasure. In the end Linda probably ate about 2-3 oz, I ate parts of each and took the remainder home to recook on the grill for dinner tomorrow. I expected the restaurant would give us somewhat of a credit on the bill but that wasn't the case plus we were each charged for 2 sodas, I gather refills aren't included. Far and away the WORST supper club we have been to and we have probably been to more than 25. This is a one and done! There were 4 of us in our party and I was a little skeptic after reading some Current reviews. The bar opens at 5 and apparently the dining area at 5:30. We got here around 5:25 and there were about 6 people at the bar including our two friends. The dining room was half full already so the comments I read about not seating people until 5:30 was not what I saw. Our server was excellent. We all filled up on the salad bar and soup. Three at our table said the pickled herring was amazing. A warm loaf of Bread was at our table when we got back from the salad bar. A lot to choose from at the salad bar. Three of us had the baked onion soup and one the mushroom soup. All Were delicious. Two had prime rib with Irish potatoes, 2 the ribeye and one with baked sweet potato and one with vegetables instead of potato. The two ribeyes were both ordered medium rare. One was delivered medium rare while the other more medium well on one side and medium on the other. Not sure how they could cook one Side of a steak to be more done than the other side. Then we decided to try dessert. What a treat. Each couple split the Schaum Strawberry Torte and it was a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. A crunchy egg white/sugar base topped with sliced strawberries and whipped cream with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. We also ordered a slice of chocolate Angel pie. We shared it later and it was a light fluffy chocolate mousse on a garam cracker crust. It was good in its own way but hard to follow the Torte. When.we arrived home I received a phone call from the restaurant letting me know that I had left my purse at the table. Since we live almost an hour away, it looks like we were going back the next night for another round. Update: I originally gave the restaurant a 4 star but after the Friday night fish fry I took it down a notch. Granted we expected it to be busy and the 40 minute wait was fine. We don't drink and there were a couple chairs to sit on while waiting so we mostly people watched. The service was a step down from the night before but the place was packed and the servers, of which there were many, were running their butts off. We were looking forward to the salad bar but on Friday night fish fry it was not a available. We could see they needed the room for tables for the busy fish fry. We both ended up ordering the fish fry that was an all you can eat Family style. We first received two slices of rye bread which was tasty. We each received a small bowl of potato salad and coleslaw and a bowl to share of baked beans. The beans were really good and tasted homemade with 3/4 types of beans. The potato salad had thin sliced potatoes like you would get in a German potato salad but it had a regular potato salad dressing. It was good/average. The coleslaw was a little under dressed for our liking- it could have been a little creamier but it still was ok. We got our fill of the sides and had a wait before getting our basket of fish and chicken. There were 4 fish sticks and 4 pieces of chicken. The fish sticks were lightly breaded and tasted good but nothing special. The chicken was dry so we ended up using some of the tarter sauce on it. Underneath the chicken was a small pile of French fries that I am assuming was in the basket to collect grease because they certainly were not edible and if they were meant to be a part of The meal they were very soft and should not be served with chicken and fish on top. My husband asked for two more fish sticks and when the waitress finally came back to ask us if we wanted our check she remembered about the request but at this point in time my husband declined to get the two more fish sticks. We will go back to eat salad bar and try other entrees off the menu but will skip going back for a fish fry. With the business they get on Friday nights we won't be missed but we have so many great fish Frys closer to home. read more

The bartender was as nice as can be. That's really the only good thing I can say. Our waitress DENISE was about as friendly as a viper. The restaurant itself is showing its age. The radio on the shelf in the MDR was covered in dust. A clock on the same shelf was barely plugged into an ext cord left dangling in midair. Breadsticks on the salad bar were beyond stale bordering on soggy. Keep in mind they are the prepackaged type. French onion soup had no flavor. Hard to believe considering this is one of the easiest soups to make. The haystack of onions was a near disaster. It was more like a haystack of clumped onions. This happens when you fry them in big batches, clumps of almost cooked onions. Memo to the cook (no way this guy was a chef) these are meant to be cooked in SMALL BATCHES! The fried cod was just barely cooked and the fries had been sitting for a while. They came out hot but were rubbery which indicates they were sitting under a heat lamp for a good bit. The food was good. Can't complain on that at all. And the serving sizes were generous. The salad bar was pretty minor and they ran out of French onion soup. My biggest problem was that the waitstaff didn't seem to know whose table was whose. There were like 5 waitresses at the end of the night which seemed silly and I'm pretty sure we saw each of them at our table. This has been our go to restaurant for years. It saddens me to say how disappointed we have been the last 3 times. They have added tables so everyone is packed like sardines. Salad bar was not refilled. Have not had stuffed shrimp the last 3 times. Waitress said has not been there for awhile, then take it off the menu. Fried shrimp was tough and not great. Shrimp sauce was way to spicy. Ribs were way over sauced it made them soggy. Steak was tough. This place has down hill since new owners. We have given numerous chances. We may be done. Well, we've given this place four different chances. Our first time wasn't terrible as my husband and I both ordered the fried chicken. It was ok... There aren't many restaurants in the area, so since we like the location, we really wanted this place to be a go-to for us, but it just isn't going to happen. The food has gotten progressively worse with each visit and the hostess always seems to have a chip on her shoulder. The last visit was by far the worst. We went with our 9 year old daughter and one of her friends. My husband ordered the prime rib, I ordered the chicken quesadilla appetizer and the special crab cake appetizer that they offered that night. The kids ordered chicken tenders. Nothing special, right??? Well, we waited almost 45 minutes for our meal and it wasn't even a busy night. My husband ordered the French onion soup with his dinner. It came out looking like nothing more than a cup of beef broth. The waitress handed him croutons from the salad bar, and a Parmesan cheese shaker, much like you'd see at a pizza restaurant. We both actually looked at each other and laughed about it. The crab cakes were inedible. Extremely dry, lacking flavor and burned on both sides. The chicken quesadilla was also the worst I had ever had. Flavorless with the exception of the char on the chicken. It tasted like cleaning chemicals, as if the grill weren't cleaned properly. We came in on a Friday night, so Fish Fryday at a Wisconsin supper club, you can't go wrong. Pricing is great, fish fry comes with way too many items like; cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, rye bread and fries - basically everything you need to leave with a full stomach. Service was excellent, sat at the bar and had a great martini with freshly stuffed blue cheese olives. We get here several times a year and usually the food is pretty good. The prices are great. This time I was greatly disappointed. Several of us ordered the sirloin steak and haystack special. We all ordered medium but they arrived rare. The steak had so much gristle we gave up eating them. I mean it's not that hard to get good sirloin steak. The haystack onions were almost perfect! Just no seasoning at all. We all had the baked French onion soup and usually it's fantastic. This time it was so salty it was inedible. Our bread was stale. Do not go for brunch ever. It was extremely over priced and there was no breakfast items at all. Maybe call it a dinner buffet. But in no way is this brunch. Oh and at 22.00 dollars if you would like dessert that is an additional charge. The food was boring, some tepid roast beef, bland turkey , some of the worst stuffing I have ever had and the ribs just plain disgusting. The mashed potatoes were good but nothing special. That the place was nearly empty should have been a clue, but the Packers were playing the night game and the place doesn't have a TV. Even though there were only 3 parties in the dining room, we had to wait to be seated. The server was very nice and attentive. Our Old Fashions came quickly. They tasted fine, but were weak on the brandy. The free crudities had pate and pickled herring on it. I really like the pickled green beans, but everything else was average if it wasn't dried out. My soup came out before my daughter's shrimp salad. The soup was a tomato bisque with tortellini in it. Sort of weird, but not horrible. The shrimp salad was presented beautifully. Big ol shrimp hanging on the side of goblet that is filled with sauce, all on a bed of lettuce. She said the first one was fine, the second one ok, and the third one wasn't right at all. She excused herself to the restroom to vomit. I told her to eat some bread, which was so hard and stale she could barely cut it. The waiter came back to get the used dishes and asked how the shrimp was. I said one was funky, but sometimes that is how shrimp is. I said my daughter threw up, but the fettuccine would fill her up. At no point was I mad or said I was sending it back to the kitchen. I said she was done with it. I sort of thought she didn't take all the shell off or something - user error. I was starting to wish there was more brandy in my drink. We are sitting there, playing with the food from the salad bar. Super just ok. I even like canned beets. The lettuce was in pieces that were too big to eat, but cutting it up gave us something to do while we listened to the fight in the kitchen. We could hear the waiter say, "they aren't even mad about it." Then the cook is threatening to make something "really special" to personally bring to our table. I started drinking my daughter's cocktail. Also weak. The cook said it would take 2 1/2 hours to make the fettuccine. The cook is still mad, so the waiter goes to tell the bartender. The waiter went back to the kitchen and the cook screams, "I hope she didn't want chicken or shrimp on that fettuccine." I slammed my daughter's weak drink and we left. We told the bartender we were leaving because of our fear of revenge cooking. She signed and headed for the kitchen as we headed for the door. No idea what the steak is like. Visiting from California we have been wanting to try this place for s few years. We finally stopped by for Friday Fish Fry. Place was a little busy and service did not start great but ended well. The food was delicious and made up for any inconvenience. Most in our group had the family fish fry which wad great, I loved that in included lightly breaded fish and some great tasting fried chicken! From the memoriabia of the restaurants history the adorns the walls to location in the bygone town of Pipersville. They offer specials on varying nights of items most places no longer serve such as liver and onions and corned beef and cabbage. I've been going here for years and always enjoy the chance to go again for a fish fry, steak or something new. Minus Fridays they offer a salad bar that has a nice assortment. I was a little apprehensive about this place because of the mixed reviews, but my wife wanted to try it. We went on a Sunday evening. We were seated quickly at a nice corner table. Our friendly waitress arrived quickly and took our drink order - two glasses of Cabernet please. When she arrived with two glasses of white wine, we told her that what we ordered is a red. No problem. She quickly returned with two glasses of cab. We ordered a special, sauerbraten, and the broiled pork chops. Dinner comes with a sale bar and soup, and fresh bread. All for a ridiculously low price. While I'm not crazy about salad bars, this one wasn't bad at all. Lots of stuff, including pickled herring and chicken liver pate. We each ordered the French onion soup, which was clearly homemade, and very good. The entrees were both very good. The sauerbraten was clearly well marinated and a good sweet and sour flavor. The red cabbage was very good, but should be served in a separate small dish. The pork chops were very good, maybe a little on the tough side, but tasty. Wow. It seems to be the common phrase among Yelpers : "If I could give this place zero stars, I would." Yeah, I would concur that exact phrase for Donny's Girl Supper Club. Something seems to have changed in the time between the other reviews and our experience. I have read that it was sold off and service has gone downhill. I can't stress enough how SHITTY our experience was here. First of all, we had a party of 8. My family went out after a recent outing and wanted to have a nice dinner, some place we would all be able to eat together. Donny's was the place we all agreed on. We made reservations, arrived on time, and were seated promptly. That's about all that went correctly with this outing. We told them on the phone when we made our reservations we would have multiple checks. They gave an obviously NEW waitress our group to wait on. Normally, if the waitress is new, you don't give her a big group with several checks split up. (believe me, I know from experience). From the get go, we knew something was up when she didn't know the beers on tap or the liquor available. We wound up waiting 1/2 an hour to get our drinks... and then the ordering debacle began. In the meantime, we overheard our waitress asking one of the more experienced veteran waitresses for help. The vet basically told our waitress she'd better check with the bartender on which scotches and beers were available, as that wasn't her job. "I don't know. You'll have to ask the bartender." She basically was refusing to help her out. Classy. So... upon ordering... do we get the salad bar with our meal? Or no....? That wasn't told to us or relayed. What exactly do we get as a side? No idea. She didn't know. I will put this on the new girl's training. It seemed very apparent to all of us they were trying to get her to screw up and refusing to help this girl out. When we got our meals (an hour later) they were cold, missing items, or wrong all together. I got a dried out chicken breast with a piece of canned beet on the side. Totally unappetizing and not really what I had been expecting. My dad kept asking for salsa that was supposed to come with his taco salad, and they kept telling him they would be right there with it. By the time he had it brought to him (he had to ask someone else to help get it, as he was getting very hungry) we had almost all finished our meals. Absolutely unacceptable. My husband got the pork chop. When I looked at his plate, I asked him if he got two. Nope, the other half was fat and gristle he had to cut away from his pork chop. Upon further inspection, his pork chop was basically a low quality (even Roundy's could provide better) pork chop,seasoned with .....seasoning salt. They were cold in the middle. It was pointless to call it out to anyone, as by the time all was said and done, we were at this awful place TWO WHOLE HOURS. Then came time to figure out the bill. Oh boy. We were told by the veteran waitress that our waitress was 'Working on our bill, and it wasn't going very well.' I almost got up and walked out after that. This place is inexcusable. I realize all places have off nights - but if you were to ask any of the other groups there that night that had poor service, I would be they would all agree. Whomever is running this establishment is running it into the ground. Based on the other experiences posted her, I feel gypped. I won't be going back - ever. If anything positive came out of this experience, it was that we were all able to spend family time together. One other tip - if you use the ladies' room, be prepared to catch a whiff of pot smoke, as that was another highlight of my evening. read more

A group of us went to dine at Donny's Girl. It took about 20 minutes or so for us to get drinks. It was over an hour until we got our entrees. One person requested vegetables with their steak, instead of potato - there was neither. One person requested mustard with her burger. It never came. As for the positives, the salad bar is included with your meal. Some of the things at the salad bar looked mysterious and some were labeled. They also bring a loaf of bread out to your table. We were starving, so I wish it had come sooner. The alcoholic beverages are reasonably priced. My food was delicious! And just an odd note: If the dining room is full, it's difficult to get to the ladies' room. I had to skootch behind the chair of someone and they had to pull it in all the way to their table for me to get by. We've been several times. This time things seemed changed. Host was friendly. Salad bar was good. Waitress took forever to bring drinks. Asked if we wanted to order when drinks hasn't even been brought to table. Old fashions seemed light. Watered down. Steaks were horrid. Burned on top. Way over cooked. Tough, inexpensive meat. Waitress put same order in for everyone even though different size steaks were ordered. Host asked about steak issue, but walked away and did nothing. Owner is very unfriendly. No greeting or good-bye. Felt unwelcome and like wasted money. Can no longer recommend to anyone. read more
