A family member had driven by this place a bunch of times and thought it looked like a cute place to enjoy a Friday fish fry. So we made the drive out to this place and were not disappointed. This seemed like a down-to-earth local place with good food and good drinks. We arrived relatively early so it wasn't super busy yet, but we opted to wait to be seated until a little later and enjoy an old fashioned out on their patio. The old fashioned was very good. The patio is up close to the road with an area of trees just beyond that. It is nice to watch cars roll by the country roads and enjoy the greenery beyond. It was definitely getting steadily busier and by the time we went in to be seated, it was a full house. Friendly staff and good service. I ordered my usual cod fish fry, and I am a big fan of their fish fry. The breading was light but crispy, the bread and butter was soft and flavorful. Tip: as of 2022 seafood is served Fridays after 1pm I am highly disappointed in this place, mainly because the previous reviews about this place hyped this place up way too much. I ordered the walleye with a side of mashed potatoes...there was absolutely nothing special about my dish. The fish had zero seasoning and tasted gross while my mashed potatoes tasted way too salty. My husband ordered a shrimp basket that only included 7 small shrimp. Once again, nothing special about the flavor. This place is overpriced for serving such basic food. What a gem and only 30 minutes east of Madison! Went for lunch on a Friday with a friend and we both got the large cod dinner with fries and started with the cheese curds. I suspect this is one of those places where if you know, you know. Thanks to Yelp, I found this off the beaten path bar and grill passing between Madison and Milwaukee on a Friday at lunch time. We wanted to sit outside, which was right on the street which wasn't terribly busy in this locale. Alligator bites for my mate and fish fry for me and some sodas all fine. Also as a former southern resident, though I don't eat gator or crawfish, they are here! So that's a plus! Some different options in addition to burgers, wings, steaks. My spouse and I met our daughter here for a quick Sunday lunch back in November. I had the Philly, souse to e Tilly, and daughter the chicken tenders, they were the Sunday special. Our cheesesteaks were decent. Nothing special about them, a good bar sandwich. The fries were quite good. My daughter like the tenders. Great find! Went to the Aztalan Museum and State Park for the day and wanted something to eat after. We weren't sure of what places were in the area but came across this place when searching for restaurants nearby. Hostess, Beth, was very friendly and informative when asking for recommendations, she seemed to know her stuff. We were seated right away and waiter came over not too long after. Food and drinks were ordered but unfortunately when the food came my burger was very undercooked for my liking. I asked for medium well and it was somewhat between rare to medium. After a little convincing the waiter took it back and had them cook it a little longer. Once it came back it was cooked just how I like my burgers and it was very good. Both burgers and fries were very tasty. When we moved to the area 4 years ago this place was Great and the fish fry was amazing. I don't know what has happened the last few years but the food has gone completely downhill. Decided to give it one last try this week and unfortunately it's probably even worse than our last visit (a year or so ago). Aside from the ribs that were OK everything was WAY over fried, the $19 Alligator was basically a bunch of burnt breading with a few small over cooked pcs. of meat and VERY salty. So disappointed b/c this was one of my favorite places early on. We will never be back. read more

Found this fun little gem driving from Milwaukee to Madison. Monday special 1/4 lb burger with cheese and all the fixings for $2.50, a steal. Hats off to Crawfish Junction for serving an amazing Mother's Day Brunch! It was a beautiful presentation of fresh and flavorful choices... Smoked salmon, colorful salads, shrimp cocktail, quiche, eggs Benedict and omelets to order were only the beginning. My husband requested an end cut of Prime Rib and said it was delicious. Upstairs can be on the WARM side so be careful on a hot day. Prefer that they take reservations so we do not have to fight the crowds. They need to asphalt pave their parking lot and stripe it so all the customers park correctly and put that food truck somewhere else on Friday nights. This place is always so busy on a Friday night, that it's hard to get good customer service. They plunk you at a table and then continue to ignore you. The last time our waitress brought drinks over set them on the table and there was water on the table & they practically slid off the other side. No apologies and certainly did not come back with a towel to wipe anything up either. Tried for fish fry. Arrived at an early 5pm and the place was packed. Headed to bar area and ordered drinks. To my surprise the bartender hand crafted our cocktails with muddling and fresh mint! Told we had a 40 minute wait and it was exactly that. Started with the cheese curds and I have to say they were some of the best I've ever had. Super light crust, juicy not greasy and salty. They appeared battered in house. Just delicious. I had the pan fried walleye. Seasoned perfectly but a bit over cooked and had many bones in my filet. Such a fun place! Great food. Great staff. Fun specials all week. Arrive early on weekends if you'd like to snag a seat. I never use to think this place was short on seating until an extremely large group of fantasy footballers came in and took up more than half the dining room (rude). Luckily we got a seat for lunch. Fried green beans with wasabi sauce, cheese curds, hangover burger, waffle fries, drinks, etc we're all great! Parking is abundant. Atmosphere is typical small town Wisconsin. This place is delicious. We arrived at 2:30 on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch. We were surprised by the menu as only the dinner/fish fry menu is available after 2 on Fridays. (Which was our mistake as it is clearly on the menus thru Yelp but hubby missed it!) We decided to stay and that's where the disappointment ended! Our meal was delicious. I had the fried cod, my husband enjoyed the perch and scallops combo, and our son loved his fried alligator! The food was served quickly, hot and tasty and our server was very attentive. Last night I had the pleasure of eating some Alligator.........as one of my co-worker told me about a place called - "Crawfish Junction" in Johnson Creek, WI. I'm so glad we came here, as I enjoyed the food that was served over here. One thing I must say, it was an adventure to find this place.........you gotta hear this story........... As we were driving here from Watertown, Wi., I had my phone on for the GPS. As we got to a main road that leads us to this restaurant/bar, the road was closed; therefore we had to drive an alternative route. Upon driving around, we find ourselves passing farms & corn fields and I just knew we were in the sticks! Another funny thing about getting to our destination........as we were driving there, we ran over a skunk! While we were in the car, I noticed a putrid smell that I could not describe! I've never experienced anything like this in my entire life..........all I can say is, it was so STINK, I almost tossed my cookies from gagging from the smell. When I had asked my co-worker - "What's dat funky smell?" They all laughed at me, as they had assumed I knew what it was.........I told them - "Hey man! I'm from Hawaii, born & raised! We don't have skunks in Hawaii!" Thank goodness........the smell was so N.A.S. T. Y.!!!!!! Anyways, we finally reached our destination..........the Crawfish Junction is basically a bar/restaurant. As I enter the bar/restaurant, I do my check in on Yelp and Bingo! I won a free "Haystack Onion Rings"! Yay free food! (I will get back to you folks about this.) Upon ordering my grub, of course I had to get the Alligator, and I also ordered some chicken wings, & a few local beers. We had several plates of Chicken wings. I had ordered the "Hot wings", and my two of my co-workers order a "Sweet & Sassy wings", and the "Butt Smokin' wings". A few other items that were ordered last night - A deep fried hamburger, and another co-worker had ordered a steak dinner. Most of the beers served here were unique...........I didn't want to go with the standard stuff that I can get at home, and as you know, Wisconsin is Miller beer country. I've had Miller beer & Lite Beer before, so I took a pass on this. Instead, I tried a local beer called "FAT TIRE". That way when I drink it, I can get my belly big again like a "Fat Tire!" Lol! The beer was very smooth & rich......I drank a few, and it was the perfect side for my hot wings. As it was time to pay........I paid for my meal, then later when I got to my hotel & was checking the bill, "WTH" the waitress charged me for the Haystack Onion Rings I supposedly got free from Yelp! Love it. What a great find. We have family in Sun Prairie and this is a great half way point to for dinner. The menu offers a great selection and the night we were there they had prime rib as a special. I had the Blackened walleye and it was excellent. We had 7 people so we mad reservations and the table was set and ready for us when we arrived early. The hostess who I'm guessing is also the owner was very nice and was very attentive.
