I was in town visiting family and we hit up The Old Rock for brunch on a Sunday! Plenty of parking in their attached, unpaved lot. The space itself is fairly standard for the area: slightly elevated dive bar, with wooden accents and various alcohol promotional materials. The best part is the outdoor patio and live music area! We sat inside on this occasion. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful during our visit, making good conversation and helping clean up an unfortunate spill. The Bloody Mary and Biscuits and Gravy were top notch! I'd have preferred some meat and cheese with my bloody but the pickles and citrus were alright! Good mix and spirit level! Biscuits and Gravy were an incredibly large serving and had tons of flavor. Definitely not a generic reheated gravy on these guys! I'd absolutely order again! read more

We ordered a takeout pizza on a Thursday to take advantage of their special ($20 for a 16" 3-topping pizza plus 3 cans of soda or beer). We arrived on time but were told it would be another 10 minutes. Fine, they seemed surprisingly busy for a Thursday at 1:45 pm. So, we waited. And waited. We were handed an extra can of soda as recompense for the fact that the cook made our pizza wrong and it had to be remade. So, we waited again. Finally, the pizza was done, we paid cash for our order, and we got the heck out of there. When we opened the pizza, we discovered very few toppings, and they were all mostly dumped in the middle. Then we discovered that we were charged an extra dollar because we ordered our pizza and soda to go! Seriously??? The pizza was just OK. We've had worse, we've had much better. We really liked the atmosphere of the place. We could have eaten inside or out. We were afraid of the mosquitos so we chose indoors but then wished we would have eaten outdoors. Great outdoor space. The waitress was very nice and attentive once we were seated. All the customers were friendly as well, mostly locals. It was Thursday night pizza special. Three topping large pizza and a pitcher of beer or soda for $18. So we went with the special. The pizza was not the best we have ever had but for the price...If we are ever in the area on a Thursday night we would stop in again for the special. We also order a bloody and old fashioned that were very good. So stopping for a cocktail would be well worth it alone. It's a place you have to try at least once. It's was worth a stop. read more

The AYCE Crab is a lie. Time starts when you sit. Complete SCAM!! you have an hour time limit and it takes them 20 minutes to bring you a plate. And then advertise on their Facebook page a lie that Cliff was the only person that had a bad service on the lady behind us only was served one plate before her time was up! Need to work on service and attitude!! Been there probably 10 times and every time their customer service is atrocious and absolutely RUDE!! The food is good, and they have tables on the porch, which is why they got so many chances. But good-luck getting helped at the bar! They will look you dead in the eyes and keep doing nothing!! The staff was great inside. There is an outdoor bar on the multi level deck and multiple picnic tables on the lawn. There is also a decent looking volleyball court. They will be hosting bands throughout the summer season. Pacific Coast Highway was on stage while we were there. This may be a popular biker hangout, we weren't sure if it is or if the band drew the large biker crowd. However, everyone appeared to be having a good time and no one seemed out of control. I had a hard time trying to get either bartenders attention outside so I ended up going inside for a beer. This was probably my biggest disappointment of the afternoon. My husband and I have been dying to try this place. We always drive past on our trips to/from Minnesota and it seems like such a fun countryside bar. We were excited to finally stop on Friday as we headed to Madison. I figured this would be the perfect place for a fish fry and old fashioned. We were not greeted when we sat down as the bartender was busy talking down the bar. I think this is par for the course with bars frequented by locals, so jo big deal. I ordered my drink and got a nod rather than a smile or response. The old fashioned was nothing special but they do muddle fruit on the bottom, which is always nice. It tasted weak, like a cinnamon sour with orange. My husband got a beer from a selection. The place was smaller than I expected and I'm wondering if there is another area? The building looks big and when we'd pass in the summer, the lot was always full. They have a nice bar area and dining room. We ordered a three piece fish fry to split because we had stopped elsewhere for an appetizer. After thirty minutes we became frustrated and asked if the meal was on its way. We were informed it would be another ten minutes. The place did not seem busy enough for a forty minute wait on fish and potato pancakes. We got the feeling our order wasn't entered. We asked that it be canceled because we were worried about being late for our show. I'm disappointed that I didn't get to try the fish and potato pancakes. I was craving pizza tonight. Our favorite 2 places are currently closed down and the other few places we tried had a very long wait time. After a suggestion from a friend we decided to try out The Old Rock. Called at 6 and was told to pick up at 645. That wait time we could handle! And it was ready on time which is a plus! I usually prefer my pizza to have a thick crust but this still hit the spot. It was a little weird to have fries on a pizza but it tasted so good. The cheese curds were really good too. It's been a while since we had been here. They were busy and short staffed as most places are. We took a pub table near the dining room and sat for 25 minutes without even being acknowledged by the waitress. We went to the bar to get our own drinks and sat back down at our table. Found a menu by the hostess stand and looked at that for a bit with still no acknowledgment of us sitting at the table and wanting to order. Waited for 40 minutes and never acknowledged. A table of 2 walked in and within 5 minutes she said hi to them right away and told them she would be right back. While looking around the dining area and bar, there were several bags of garbage piled in the corner of the bar, by the front door, boxes and garbage piled on tables in the dining room and the table used by bus staff had garbage and plates/baskets piled as high with food. Waitress was busy but that is absolutely NO reason for no acknowledgment. We walked out without even being acknowledged. Never be back again read more

I called and asked if they had outdoor seating. the person answering the phone was RUDE! " Hello" in a rude voice. when I said "Hello" back they said "Oh sorry I'm in the middle of something you wi lll have to wait" I say "ok" and wait when he comes back I ask if it would be ok to bring our 10 week old puppy o. the patio to get dinner, in the rudest voice ever he says "NO!!!!!!!!" I will never, ever return to this place I like their food but the person on the phone is ridiculous! I didn't bring my dog and push him on you I called to ask and be polite and I got greeted with disgust! Will never return even without my dog and it's close to home. read more

After being here a couple times, I'm over it, we won't be back. First time here, our food took over an hour on a Friday night for two baked cod orders. The coleslaw tasted like the cheapest prepackaged that they could find, super greasy and tasted like oil. For the plate price, we had expected more. The bartender seemed more interested in chit chatting with the regulars than making drinks for people with empty drinks. They did seem busy enough for food to take as long as it did and the brunette bartender was very inattentive. The second time we were there for all you can eat wings. The first order was fine. The second order didn't come tossed in sauce and were warm ish not hot. We won't be back especially after the subpar service and alright food. This is as rural as it gets, but I like that about it. It's not fancy. It's not glamorous. And it isn't trying to be. They have a little tiny kitchen, so you might have to sit and have an actual conversation over a beer because they can't pump out food with the speed you might be used to, but you know what--that's a good thing. Sit. Enjoy the beer. Hell, order a second beer. Maybe a third. (Have a designated driver, though--let's not be uncouth.) You might have to wait a bit to get a table on a Friday night for fish fry (reservations are encouraged), but it's worth a bit of a wait. The weekly specials menu is always changing, so you're encouraged to stop back frequently. A place doesn't stay in business for over a 100 years without doing something right. read more

Love this bar! The food is fabulous and you can't beat the 16" pizza with a pitcher of beer for $15 on Thursday nights. Tried this place recently and would never step foot in it again. This is a biker bar with burgers and the usual fare. Our food took forever and it was stone cold.
