Mimosa flight
Kristen K.

We came here before a Wisconsin badger game and made a reservation online the day before. When we walked in the hostess immediately greeted us and sat us down. We were asked if we wanted a booth or a table and we chose a table. I ordered the mimosa flight and the dragon fruit one was amazing. My fish tacos were good but they didn't have that much flavor and I ordered a side Cesar with it. My husband had a burger and he said it was very good. His fries were very good since I stole many of them. My kids ordered a chicken wrap and a breakfast dish and said they liked it and would order them again. Our service was top notch by TEAGAN. she was a very good waitress and very attentive. My only complaint is there really isn't an ambiance unless you sit outside of the patio.

All the food is great but the thing that stands out and brings me back at least yearly since 2018 is the firecraker shrimp pizza. YUM Crunchy, spicy, satisfying, amazing flavors!!

We were in town from Michigan to visit our plant and meet coworkers. When I arrived, some of the group were sitting at a high top. I stopped a waitress to ask if I should go to the bar for a cocktail. She took our order. Super nice and efficient. Our table was ready and she brought the drinks to us there and cashed out our tab with her as someone else would be our server. Firecracker shrimp and delicious curds were our starters. I ordered ribeye medium rare. It was a bit thin, so more done than I would prefer. The green beans were excellent and the French onion soup was good. Lemon drop martinis were meh. Service was excellent. I had the rum cake for dessert and was so glad I did.

Great date night! We didn't know, but it was a local homecoming night, and it looks like this is THE place for dinner before the festivities. Groups and couples of high school kids dressed up filled up the place inside. We sat inside, but outdoors was very promising. I would've sat out if I hadn't been hiking all day and not wanting any more sun. We were seated on a high table by the bar. It was great, except that the little tray they leave out to place the food when they come out was right behind my seat - and also right behind another seat around the corner. When the girl sitting around the corner got up to go to the bathroom, she knocked the little tray back, hit my table, made me jump, then rudely went off without saying anything. She was rude, but the tray really was in the way for both of us and should have been placed better or folded up and put away when not in use. Other than that mishap, everything else at the place was very pleasant. Our server, Skyler, was very nice and helpful and completely on point. He could have come by to check on our drinks, but it was a busy night, so I don't really blame him. We could have used another glass of beer but he didn't return until too late, so we decided not to get more. Food: Wagyu burger This was overpriced. I didn't feel like there was anything special about the "wagyu". It felt like a regular burger. And it was under seasoned for my taste. It was a solid burger, just not worth $25. Firecracker shrimp Pizza Quite good. Just a note - it was good for me, not so much for the hubby. Their creamy sriracha sauce is on the sweet side rather than the spicy. The cheese was a little overdone - it was crusty rather than oozy. This pizza is good cold as leftovers too. On that note, the firecracker shrimp would be better ordered in its appetizer form rather than the pizza version. There was live music playing outdoors. Great place for a nice date. Solid food, nice ambiance. Somewhat overpriced for my tastebuds.

This was my second visit to Buck & Honey's--my first time back in a couple of years. We stopped in Sunday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. on our way home and were seated quickly in a large booth. It was hot and humid outside, so we opted to sit indoors this time. The patio looked spacious with plenty of tables, but we weren't in the mood to be sweating buckets while trying to enjoy our meal. Inside was cool and comfortable, which made a big difference. Our server, Lexi, was friendly and attentive--great service all around. We shared the firecracker shrimp (also know as bang bang shrimp) and sassy curds. The shrimp had good flavor, but don't let the name fool you--it's not spicy at all. Still enjoyable, just not what you might expect if you're looking for heat. Personal preference, I'd like some heat. The cheese curds were spot on, made even better by the fact they come with both cheddar and white cheese. Perfectly crispy and satisfying. Overall, a solid visit. Good service, relaxing atmosphere, and some tasty appetizers. Would definitely stop in again--hopefully not waiting another two years until my next visit.

Good spot for dinner. Grab a reservation online! Fish fry was cod but the walleye from the standard menu was great.

The half soup half sammy combo was delish!! We sat at the bar top which I love the vibe of. Bartender was excellent and she was very friendly. There are multiple locations in the Madison area and each are beautiful spaces! Give me a follow on Instagram at yelpershawn

Beef Stroganoff

Outdoor seating available. We met up with some friends as this particular restaurant between our towns where we lived. We had visited a different location for a private event previously (Monona) but it was catered foods and very good. We entered via the outside seating, walked past a bar and were seated at the back part of the restaurant. It was a cozy seating area. Our friends order a Korean bbq rib strips. It came with strips of meat hanging from a holder that had condiments of chicken different sauces which they enjoyed very much. My husband and I both had the fire cracker shrimp off the appetizer menu. We wanted something light and d this dish was perfect for Is. Just the right amount of heat with light batter. I would order this dish again. On a return visit my husband ordered the pork belly street tacos. He said they were good. We were visiting with another couple once again and not paying attention to our food, otherwise I would have snagged a bite of one of his tacos to get an opinion. I had the beef stroganoff, Which is just what I needed on a dreary December afternoon. It was served with wide noodles and a dallop of sour cream on top with plenty of cubed beef. A roll and butter was served on the side. I ate about 1/3 and 1/2 my roll so had a nice replay for dinner. I enjoyed this comfy dish. We have yet to have room for dessert but someday I will come back for just dessert, or what I have done in the past, order dessert to eat while waiting for my entre or just order a dessert to take home.

I live in the Twin Cities and when I travel to Madison to visit my sister, this place is always one of my stops. I salivate over their bang bang shrimp app. To this day, I still haven't found any bang bang shrimp as good. I can handle heat, so I wouldn't call these spicy, but if you are sensitive to heat, you may think these are spicy. You can't go wrong with an order paired with their cheese curds. Their homemade ranch is amazing. I tried the hot comby sandwich. That's a massive sandwich with a lot of meat. I split that with my friend and couldn't even finish my half. This was the first time we were able to sit outside. Their patio is huge and has nice patio sets with sturdy/huge umbrellas. Over the years, I've had a few waiters here, but the memorable ones are Jason and Bear. Both guys are super attentive and friendly. All in all, I wish there was a location by me, because I'd be getting my bang bang shrimp more often.

It happened to be their anniversary and they had special pricing on beer and food. We tried their Nitty Burger that came with six ounce of ground chuck burger, secret gritty sauce, and honey wheat sesame seed bun. The burger was nice, juicy, and delicious. A pint of Warped Speed scotch ale from Lake Louie Brewing paired nicely with the burger. They do this thing where on your birthday you get a free pint glass with beer. We constantly saw people coming in and redeeming their birthday treat which kept the vibe of the place fun and festive. The immediate area, which is downtown Sun Prairie was super cool and cute. Lots of shared spaces and mixed use buildings that included the building Nitty Gritty sits in. There are a few Nitty Gritty's scattered across the Madison area, but my buddy recommended this location due to convenience. We popped in on night 2 of the NFL draft, which is why we bellied up to a high top in the bar area. Nitty Gritty is more sports bar than anything, but if the bar is not your scene, they have several dining spaces inside and out. We started with a couple of beers and cocktails, and while we reviewed the dedicated "birthday shot book", we decided to stick with standard drinks...but the birthday shot thing is apparently a big deal here! My buddy went local beer from the tap and I went gin & tonic. Bad call on my part, as even though that is a basic cocktail, this is not a cocktail bar. The drink was not good, so second round I went Spotted Cow as well. All was right in the world in that moment. For food, we went quintessential bar food with wings and burgers. My buddy got the Smokehouse Burger, which is their house-bbq burger served on Texas toast. He sided it with the fries and noted that both were decent, not great, but also not terrible. Both lacked seasoning, especially the burger patty itself. I opted for the wings, black and blue dry rub to be specific. The wings were good size and fried well, very crispy and meaty for a wing. The seasoning, while present, was not very flavorful. I expected a bit more from a Cajun based rub. Food wise, it was just okay. Service was a hit and miss throughout the evening. While the place was not busy, the service was a bit slow for the amount of staff we noticed. We waited on refills and re-orders a bit longer than normal, especially sitting the bar area. This location has been here for a while and it shows in parts of the building interior and exterior. While conditionally certain areas need some love, the spaces were all clean and well kept. Overall, Nitty Gritty was okay. Seemed like your standard local sports bar with mid-level food and service. With that being said, I may be interested in spending time here for a birthday given that shot book!

Full Mile Beer here looked like the ticket, and it turned out to be a wise choice. Although this is a brewery, we had to swing with an old-fashioned to start, this being Wisconsin and all. Brandy for me, bourbon for our Grandson. Wife, being the designated driver, had a Diet Coke. The bartender knew what they were doing because the Old Fashioneds were delicious. Wife said the throw on the Diet Coke was very good. Grandson had an order of wings for appetizer, which he reported were excellent. We all had the FM Deluxe Smashburger-double patties, Minus the cheddar cheese. (We don't like cheese on our burgers, even in Wisconsin. Don't judge.) They were well seasoned and very tasty. I'm not usually a nut about french fries, but these were extraordinarily good. We asked for ours well done, and they were crunchy masterpieces. We had to sample the beer, and went for the "Evening In Prague" Dark Czech Lager. It was excellent. Like many of these modern breweries, it's a big open airy room. We sat at one end of a long community table. The bar looked eminently stocked (Surprised to see a rather large collection of rye whiskeys-You don't see that that often). Our friends from Chicago were staying at an Airbnb in Sun Prairie, so we made the trek from the west side of Madison to meet up with them. They had called ahead of time, and even though they don't take reservations for groups that large, the staff said that they would make a note of it and have a spot ready to go for us. Between our 3 families, we had many young kids in tow, so I was apprehensive about a long wait. The minute we walked in, however, we told them our name, and they immediately led us to a large table in the back room where we were quickly set up! The vibe of the place is really fun, with exposed brick walls and fun art. One of the coolest things was for the kids - instead of crayons, the menu comes with Wikki Sticks. These kept the kids occupied the entire time! Absolutely genius. Despite our large table, our waitress had no trouble efficiently taking orders and getting us our drinks. I was shocked by how quickly our food came out - everyone was digging into their meals 25-30 minutes after we had arrived at the restaurant! The service was absolutely top notch, and the pizza was phenomenal. I ordered the tomato pie, and it was everything I was hoping for - gobs of delicious homemade red sauce, plenty of cheese, and fresh basil. I was used to small button fried mushrooms you get at other places, but what I got were huge slices of portobellos, and the spice on the breading took them to the next level. The wings were also great, and while I wish I got more spice on them, they were cooked perfectly with a bit of tang and a bit of heat. They were good sized and sauced just the right amount.
