I don't like giving 5 stars but this place deserves to better than a 3 star rating. They are so awesome! Even for big parties-- they welcome and take care of you properly. Love the outdoor eating area directly on the lake with plenty of watercraft parking. Inside is super Wisco tavern vibes with a pool table and separate seating on the other side for more of an intimate dining experience. Food is served hot & fresh, with lots of ranch. Only problem was the rare steak came medium well, but we had 11 people in our party and I'm sure they did their best to get everything out at the same time. If there's anything negative I can say it is that I could not eat from the dinner menu/restaurant menu while at the bar... They have a separate menu only. I don't think that's a proper way to run a business. So instead I opted to have a couple old fashioneds while waiting for a table. Another negative was I had to close out at the bar I couldn't carry my tab over to my table. When finally seated, I had the menu and thought I wanted bluegills... I was quickly persuaded with the Friday night buffet when I saw all the options... Cod, catfish, baked, beer battered, fried cod, perch, shrimp, chicken Florentine... So many choices so much good stuff. The fish was fantastic, it was phenomenal... I ate way too much... The rolls were fantastic and the cheese spread they served with the breadsticks was top notch! Great food, however I feel a few things should be changed, I feel I should be able to sit at the bar and eat off the dinner menu not just a special bar menu. read more

We were at Springers Saturday, January 17, 2026 for a group banquet. The food was excellent, a variety of good choices for our buffet dinner, including fish (yay, not breaded and fried!) for those not eating other meats. The arrangement, with separate lines for soup-and-salad and entree, was efficient and allowed us to all sit down relatively at the same time. We had a separate room, and the two servers were attentive and friendly. In my opinion, we received great quality for the price we each paid, including a modest dessert as a good way to end the evening. I hope we re-book here and can definitely recommend the quality of the food (and drinks from the bar) for any guests, whether in groups or not! read more

Bar service is friendly here, and it was pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Decor hasn't changed in many years and consists of mostly dusty knick-knacks lining a shelf around the ceiling. A large variety of liquors, beers, and seltzers behind the bar, so they probably have any drink you're looking for. A lot of the food options are fried or greasy, so if that is the bar food you want, you can get it all here! Decided to try a restaurant out of the way for Friday fish. We had drinks and appetizers at the bar which offered good service and the best garlic cheese curds! We didn't want to wait to eat indoors, so found some seats outside looking out over the lake. We ordered fish baskets and fries. When the food arrived, the server asked if we needed anything else. I mentioned that we needed silverware, and that some ketchup would be nice. She never came back. Before the food got too cold, I found some silverware, napkins, and ketchup in an "employee only" area and helped myself. The food was nothing special and the ketchup had a strange fermented taste. I would return for more cheese curds at the bar, but I'm not sure I'd stay for dinner. read more

We had a gift certificate, so I decided we could give Springers another chance, since our first stop wasn't Aw-inspiring. We went on a Friday, and it was PACKED. We checked in at the front desk and were told of the wait, we were expecting it, so no problem. We waited a while, but my husband was enjoying their brandy old fashioneds! He tried the deep fried alligator, which he's never had before. He still raves about it to everyone, delicious. The filet was amazing, and I was obsessed with their hash browns. I am glad we gave Springers another chance, because now I am always suggesting it as our next stop. read more

Had great service from a very friendly waitress. The food came out fast and was delicious.

We stopped in for dinner. Our friends hadn't been here for years but we were all game to give it a go. The service was friendly but you could tell they were short staffed. Everyone is right now but I think they did a good job taking care of people who were there. We were happy. We got drinks and ordered dinner. The boys got prime rib and the girls Orange roughy. All our food was good. We got desserts and those were good also. The view of the water from our seats was great. We would stop back if back in the area. read more

This is a nice little out-of-the-way restaurant that sits directly on Lake Kegonsa. It's a little off the beaten path for driving, but if you're on the lake with a boat you can always pull up to one of their docks. It is definitely a popular lunch spot but they do serve dinner as well. As far as lunch goes, it's basically a burger in a basket and fries kind of establishment. The food is decent and certainly worth what you pay for it, but it's not exactly five-star stuff. They also have several locally made craft beers on tap. It's a relaxing place where you can sit on their back patio gazing over the vast distance across the lake while sipping on a good craft beer and enjoying your mushroom cheeseburger. Inside they do have a full bar and a game room. Our tab for four lunch baskets, five beers and a nice tip was around $75. read more

We like Springers and haven't been here for awhile. Cool rainy day at noon so ate at the bar. Good service and pretty good food. The coleslaw was good but didn't have the "tang" it should have but not a big deal.Turkey sandwich was very good as was there burger. The chips that came with it were a little bland and could have used some salt or seasoning. They were cooked perfectly and ok but just missed the mark as did the coleslaw. Still a nice place for lunch, even on a rainy day. read more

Best. Views. Ever. We love coming to Springers in the Summer, and eating on the shaded patio overlooking Lake Kegonsa. Well behaved dogs are allowed on the patio, too! My dog sure enjoys it. We both ordered grilled sandwiches, turkey with swiss; and hot ham and cheese. Both were large and nicely browned. Nothing to complain about here. When given the choice between fries or fresh potato chips, we both sprang for the latter. Just wished the chips had been more seasoned, at least with more salt? Even though it was around 80 degrees at noon, it wasn't too hot on the patio due to a lovely lake breeze and sun shades. If you need a GPS to get there, I suggest driving to Stoughton first---then set GPS. We didn't do this, and ran into trouble with hwy MN being closed :( Get out there and enjoy a lakeside lunch, people!! Dogs welcome!! read more

Carol JB, Sun Prairie Love coming to Springers. We have been coming for the last 10 years. Love the new buffet. Don't have to wait for our food, and the assortment is awesome. So is the salad bar and soup bar. Love the bartenders and the woman who takes our name, the woman who seats us, the waitresses, the lady who takes our money. They are all so friendly. It takes us about 45 mins to get there, but its worth the drive. Now we heard of the Sunday Buffet, we can't wait to come to that also. You are all doing a great job! read more

Good food with convenient lake access! Unfortunately Springers had to close several days of the week as a result of COVID. Now, lack of employees is preventing them from reopening some/all of those days. To keep Springers in business I plead with folks to return to work for reasonable pay (think pre-COVID) so this great & convenient bar/restaurant can be open additional days of the week. Decent on the lake joint. Sorta a cross f between a bar... but not quite a supper club... supper club menu options but a lot of bar food options as well. Really appreciated the salad bar - clam chowder was a highlight. I thought the lake perch was decent but the prime rib and snapper special seemed to be the table pleasers. read more

Ambiance - we ate on the deck with beautiful views and nice shade. Food - nothing special. We had cheeseburgers. The cheese curds were good. Service - was awful. It was obvious they were understaffed. I'm okay with that, but at least acknowledge us at the table and tell us there will be a wait due to being understaffed. It took an hour to have our order taken. Had to go to the bar to get a couple sodas. But we noticed groups drinking alcohol beverages got a lot more attention. It has been about a year since we last ate at Springers and boy has it gone downhill. We took out-of-town guests there on Friday for fish-fry thinking it was going to be as good as it was last year. Our first clue that things have changed should have been that the place was NOT packed as it used to be on Fridays. There were many table tops and space in the bar and lots of empty tables on the patio. We couldn't see into the dining room but hadn't even finished our first drink before we were called to our dining table. The first thing we noticed is the incredibly small number of dinner choices - and some were sold out! Three of us ordered the beer battered cod and the other member of our group ordered the fried shrimp. We were brought a basket of plain dinner rolls and pimento spread - nothing to write home about! The soup and salad bar was also unimpressive - the clam chowder should have just been called potato soup, and the salad bar was so small it was laughable. When our entrees came we were incredibly disappointed. In the past the pieces of cod were large and the batter crispy and hot. These pieces were small and almost soggy. The onion rings were shameful - seriously, they had to have come frozen in a bag! The shrimp were ok - but the portion was very small. What a shame that this restaurant is shooting itself in the foot by serving subpar food. The location is amazing - the food should be too!!! We will be looking for other restaurants with a view as this one is just not good anymore. We had wanted to treat our out-of-town guests to a great dining experience and instead left embarrassed and apologetic. NOTE: when we were leaving, another gentleman was heard very loudly complaining to the staff that the food was terrible.....so I guess we aren't the only ones who walked away disappointed. read more

Well the highlight of the trip wash the hash brown casserole. The "lake" perch was big enough to set a WI state record. Getting a table is slower than molasses in December, but the service is very fast once seated. My fish was bland, but my wife's cod was better than the "perch". Pretty crowded spot though so it's very loud. I don't think I'd care to come back. Try the Spartan pizza place instead if you're in this area read more

I went on a Saturday for my dad's birthday with a group of 8, and the place was busy but not too packed. We had a reservation and were seated fairly quickly. The people at the hostess stand were a bit sassy, but our waitress was so nice and very attentive. The food was good, and I'd recommend the waffle fries as your side for sure. Nothing extraordinary, but it was a good place for Saturday night prime rib and seafood for those who don't like red meat. read more

We ordered the bacon cheese burger and the battered shrimp and as it was Mexican night margaritas! The food was quickly delivered and very good. The shrimp has a nice thin batter on it and not over powering. The burger as very nice and the waffle fries are delicious. For dessert, we shared the chocolate cake also very good. Good luck getting served unless you are a local. Six adults and two children arrived before 6:00 PM by boat. We were told we were the next on the list at 7 PM., we left after still not getting seated at 8 PM. Tons of empty tables, many smaller walk ins past us in the queue. We were told they did not have wait staff for us. New on the lake, will think twice before trying again. The bottled beer was good....... No idea about the food! read more

I can't tell you how many times I've been here, maybe 50 times over the years. It didn't always go by the same name, but the recent improvements have been great. It's the local watering hole on this side of the lake. Lots of locals here and they will take a look at anyone that's new. The staff is always very friendly. They have pool, and some video games the last time I checked. The bar area is separate from the restaurant. Food has always been good here. Great beer, drinks here, etc. prices are fair but do get expensive for some of the specials. Overall, if you are on this side if the lake, stop on over and have a brew and burger, you'll like it! read more

We went to Springers for their Mother's Day brunch and while our server was WONDERFUL (whereas the hostess was very very rude!!), the organization and food was awful. Not enough food- cheese and meat trays were empty, tons of cross contamination between meats and not enough clean plates! I asked what foods were safe for GF people and cooks/servers had no idea!! I never leave bad reviews (ever!) but for $150 I definitely expected more. The mimosa's and bloody Mary's were tasty but other than that....yuck. I definitely do NOT recommend. :( read more

Our whole group has come to springers before and loved it but tonight... not coming back. Our group was the only ones in the bar ar open and the only group for dinner, we barely got served and had the most unfriendly service in ever. My prime rib was served cold and was too rare to eat. The bartenders are rude and not happy to serve you. If a group spends $500 on food, you'd think they be chomping at the bit to provide stellar service! Definitely will not be returning. read more

We came for prime rib last weekend. The steaks were done just right. Hash browns on the side were delicious. Drinks were strong and lots of well spaced seating in the dining room. We tried to eat outside, but they only serve sandwiches or apps on the patio. Enjoyed some cheese curds and shrimp though while waiting for our table. I really like Springers. I've been coming here since I was kid, back when it was Sunnyside. It has stayed pretty munch the same over all the years, with a handful of cosmetic upgrades and modernization. Overall, though, it's the same look and feel as I remember when I was young, and I really like that. Good food, amazing fish fry, unbeatable views, and friendly, genuine service - that's how to sum up Springers. The restaurant is pretty large. There is a big dining room in the back, a large bar with some slot machines, darts, etc., a dance floor/stage area, as well as a patio terrace with lots of outdoor seating. Most nights you'll find the place decently busy, but on Fridays expect a wait. They are known for their fish fry - and with good reason. It's one of the best around. Came here for a Friday night fish fry with my family and in-laws. We were told the wait to get a table would be approx 45 min. We checked in after 45 min had passed and they said they were waiting for a table to open up. We checked in another half hour later with no more updates but the dining room was emptying out and many tables were open. After another half hour they said they were finally clearing a table for us. 15 min later we finally got seated. The hostess was an older lady who didn't seem concerned at how long we were waiting or that we were losing patience. She would chit chat with co workers and even had us wait to finish her gossiping with a co worker to give me un update on if our table was ready. Ugh. Once we were seated our waitress brought the wrong dinner to my mother in law 3x and myself 2x. I realize due to pandemic that everyone is short staffed but the customer service was absolutely awful. Upon paying the hostess also made a comment to my mother in law about needing a ride home? Do not come to this restaurant if you are looking for a nice family experience with good customer service! read more

This is a nice lakeside restaurant serving a variety of food. We stayed in a Bed & Breakfast in Stoughton, WI and Springers was recommended as being a good place to dine. I had the Tender Filet and it was well prepared and tasty, My dining companion had a Top Sirloin and indicated that it was nicely done. Both were served with a Baked potato and salads. The portions of the main course are healthy and filling, but not so overwhelming as to make you stuffed. The prices are reasonable for what you get and the service is fine. When in the area, this is an excellent place to consider for dinner as it sits right on the water and you have good scenery to look at. One caution - it is hard to find unless you know it is there. However, if you are hungry and looking for a good meal, I think you will find it quite satisfactory. read more
