    Brisket poutine

PERFECT date night spot. We sat by the window in the front which was cozy but still enough room to eat comfortably. We shared cheese curds, poutine, and fried veggies. The fried veggies were pretty good. Poutine with the brisket was amazing. But the real star were the cheese curds. Like another review said LIFE ALTERING. For our main dish we had the steak sandwich. Greens were plentiful and delicious. Ended up saving half the sandwich for leftovers and it was just as delicious reheated. Came on a Saturday night around 6 and had no issue getting a table. Our server was super friendly. Will DEFINITELY be back again :)

We stopped in Wendigo for the Bada Bam chicken sandwich, but were told ( after we ordered an appetizer of fried cheese curds) that they no longer serve that sandwich and did not have the new chicken sandwich replacement yet. And you know I really wouldn't have minded this we all know that restaurants change their menus, but it was still on the menu and on the website. I ended up with the special which was a candied bacon turkey club and my better half ended up with the grilled cheese and fries. I found it to be way too much for for me but taste good, I just ate too many cheese curds which I highly recommend, bring friends because the order is definitely enough for 4 people. The staff was friendly, but never had any follow up to see how we were doing or to refill our drinks. Maybe we were there on an off night, it was Wednesday right around dinner time. The ambiance was ok , but wondered if it was disco night as that was what was playing.

Making reservations online is a little odd, they don't confirm instantly, but a message says, "we'll get back to you if confirmed." My confirmation went to my junk mail, so be sure to check there. You definitely want a reservation though, as the restaurant is very popular, especially if there is an event at the Stoughton Opera House. The menu is small, but my Wendi Melt was delicious, and the sweet potato fries were crispy perfection. The waitress didn't pay much attention to our table, until the next party who needed it arrived and we were hustled out.

I live very close to Wendigo and it has taken me three years to try it! I decided that when a friend came to visit, we were going to try it! We went earlier in the evening and there was only one other table. It is so spacious in there. When you look from the street, you'd never guess all the space. There is even an adorable little stage in the back. The menu is short and sweet, which makes it very easy to decide. We got the cheese curds for an appetizer and you could tell they were fresh and homemade. So good! And I cannot say enough how much you get for $10! We took some home and it still looked like a full order! I had the buttermilk breaded chicken tenders, and they were some of the best I've ever had. Thin and crispy, just the way I love them. I also thought the fries were perfect! Thick and crispy! My friend got the Po' Boy and thought it was delicious! I can't wait to take my husband here for our next date night!

Update: Definitely my favorite restaurant..nestled in the heart of quaint downtown Stoughton, Wendigo does not disappoint from it's fun art decor to locally sourced ingredients used to prepare meals! It's a small choice of menu options but the food is made very well! Try the chicken Florentine, pork belly club, or cannibal burger! This was my first time here & it is probably going to be my new favorite. The food was really delicious and the drinks are well made. We had a Moscow mule and ginger mojito. This place has good vibes all around and the sweet potato fries are so good.

We had high hopes for Wendigo based on other reviews, but it didn't live up to the hype. When the first person in our party arrived she let the hostess know that we had a reservation. The hostess responded that she didn't have any reservations, turned, and walked away. We hung out at the bar until our full party arrived and were eventually seated - the place was less than half full, with probably only about 6 tables occupied. Despite this, it took an extremely long time to get our drinks and a high chair. Over half of the menu items had changed since its printing, so ordering was a bit confusing, and when the food arrived, the quality was mixed. My pork belly hash was good (but small), one omelet came overcooked and burnt. At one point a server came by with coffee refills and started pouring into a cup without asking, I let her know it was decaf and she stopped, then tried to do the same with my cup (I was drinking tea). She turned and left the table without asking if we wanted refills for our decaf and tea or offering to come back. When it came time to pay, we asked to split our check, but apparently splitting it three ways was too confusing for the server. She ended up doing it, after we identified each person's meals on the menu, but not with a good attitude. The inside was nice, and they have a cute little stage area, but I won't be back.

Went here and got a salad, unfortunately I couldn't eat most of it due to how slimy the lettuce was.

It's an utter shame how terrible Dane County is about making lake/water space accessible to the public (one thing Chicago does way better than Wisconisn, unfortunately), but Water Street Tavern totally gives me the waterfront dining fix. It's along the river, not the lake, which gives it a bit more of an intimate feel to it. Their outdoor space is absolutely beautiful and I highly recommend checking it out. We came here for our monthly fish fry, never having been here before. We came around 5:30p on a Friday and were told no indoor tables until about 8pm. It was a tad chilly out but we opted for the immediate outdoor table. There is a fireplace out there, but it's more aesthetic than anything, it provided no heat our way but we were find with sweaters. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and super fun to chat with. I wish they had your basic cod on the fish fry menu - and I was surprised they didn't - but I opted for the walleye instead. It's one very large piece but it was pretty good! Crunhcier breading but not excessive. I enjoyed the house old fashioned. I wish they had supper club boozy ice cream dessert drinks, but they don't so I opted for a cocktail as dessert instead. My dining mates got the cheesecake and ate the whole thing. We left around 7:15pm and it was empty inside, not sure what happened there, but either way I'm glad we ended up outside and I will definitely be back here more often now that I've discovered this wonderful place!

I love that it's a local joint, love that it has a legit Viking ship bar that blows smoke/steam, and love getting beer brewed on site. And a nice variety of beer at that. It had been awhile since I've been here, but it continues to be delicious. We came here for a Friday fish fry and while busy, the wait wasn't terrible at all. We went to the bar to grab a drink, and it seemed a bit wrong not to get a beer but it also seemed wrong not to get an Old Fashioned while waiting for a fish fry. So, Makers Old Fashioned Sour it was, and it was really good! I'd definitely order it again, and love that they didn't over-fill it with ice. It could sit for a bit and not get so terribly watered down. But OMG the fish fry! We try out a new fish fry spot every month, or at least most months, and I have to say this fish is probably my #1 that we've had. It was so delicious. The breading on the outside was light but crispy, and the inside was juicy and moist (sorry, it's really the best word to describe this!). I brought the third piece home (it took a lot of willpower not to eat it). I tear the breading off and give some of the fish as a topper for my pup's dinner. This fish and breading was seriously so good I'd eat the breading straight out of the refrigerator off the fish. The french fries were good, but had a few too many that were overly crunchy (reject fries, as I like to call them). Even so, still good and the fish still gets it 5 stars and the title of "Best." The roll that came with it was likewise delicious. Fun, local atmosphere and good food all around - the regular menu is great, the fish fry is great, the beer is great, and the drinks from the bartenders are great.

Every bite had me making sounds I usually save for when someone's actually got me pinned down. The two Double Cheeseburgers came in swinging -- stacked, greasy, and absolutely relentless. By the second one I was moaning with my mouth full and not even trying to hide it. The fries were hot and salty in a way that felt personal.
