We went to the bar to grab a drink, and it seemed a bit wrong not to get a beer but it also seemed wrong not to get an Old Fashioned while waiting for a fish fry. So, Makers Old Fashioned Sour it was, and it was really good! I'd definitely order it again, and love that they didn't over-fill it with ice. It could sit for a bit and not get so terribly watered down. But OMG the fish fry! We try out a new fish fry spot every month, or at least most months, and I have to say this fish is probably my #1 that we've had. It was so delicious. The breading on the outside was light but crispy, and the inside was juicy and moist (sorry, it's really the best word to describe this!). I brought the third piece home (it took a lot of willpower not to eat it). I tear the breading off and give some of the fish as a topper for my pup's dinner. This fish and breading was seriously so good I'd eat the breading straight out of the refrigerator off the fish. The french fries were good, but had a few too many that were overly crunchy (reject fries, as I like to call them). Even so, still good and the fish still gets it 5 stars and the title of "Best." The roll that came with it was likewise delicious. Fun, local atmosphere and good food all around - the regular menu is great, the fish fry is great, the beer is great, and the drinks from the bartenders are great.

I really want to come back on a nice summer day. They have some wonderful outdoor seating with a view of the lake. We ordered drinks. A Bloody Mary, and a hot Kahlua coffee were enjoyed while waiting for our food. My husband had the ahi tuna bowl which he said was amazing and I had the blackened grouper sandwich with fries, also worth trying. They have a lot of good looking dishes on the menu. The bar and seating areas were clean with plenty of seating, and the lake view is beautiful -- definitely a great spot to sit back and enjoy a drink. It has a relaxed, classic lake bar feel. We didn't order food from the menu this time, but they do offer food. There was also a local woman there selling homemade sourdough bread that was to die for. I took a cinnamon roll home with me and it was so fresh and delicious. Overall, a really nice stop for a drink, great service, and a great view. I'd definitely stop back again.

Tyranena Painted Ladies Pumpkin Spice Ale: Although I've become less of a beer guy since my college…read moredays, I like to try at least one new pumpkin beer each fall. Tyranena was founded in Lake Mills, WI by Rob Larson in 1999. Although that's within my lifetime, it was well before my beer drinking days. Painted Ladies Pumpkin Spice Ale (PLPSA) comes in at an above average 7.25% ABV with an IBU of 22. The bottle depicts multiple pumpkins painted with makeup to resemble women. The term "Painted Ladies" has a few different meanings. It was chosen for Lake Mill's "The Painted Ladies Fling" because the word is often used for Victorian and Edwardian buildings that are painted in ways that help to enhance their architectural details. The fling helps to highlight business and building owners who have embellished and enhanced their buildings throughout the year. Alternatively, it can be used as a synonym for prostitute, and that's why it was chosen for this ale as some of the more adventurous women in Lake Mills dress as painted ladies during the Fling event. PLPSA is an amber ale that pours an opaque copper color with surprisingly little head. There are notes of caramel and toffee, along with pumpkin pie spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and clove). I found this to be an easy beer to drink as the none of the flavors were overly pronounced (although this could also be a criticism for some). Well it was a last minute call but we decided to take this place on for St Patrick's Day. The bar was severely understaffed for a holiday rush at 6:00 pm but the drinks we ordered were very good. The atmosphere is just what you want in an Irish bar. Just lots of friendly people having a good time. We both ordered the corned beef and cabbage and the portion could have fed a family of four. My only critique is that the brisket was not sliced correctly. It tasted really good but it was hard to eat as it was cut with the grain instead of against the grain. We topped of the meal with a Bailey's Irish cream cheese cake which was delicious. Will definitely try this place again to try their other culinary options. Just a fun place!
