True Wisconsin bar! You get what you get. Ordered 4 drinks and 2 entrees for $48. Can't complain. Burger, a bit underwhelming. Needs a bit more salt and pepper. Over cooked for sure. But, $8.... And still good with a beer. Fry's where the main show I tell you hwat! Crispe and seasoned to perfection! Well done! Solid 3.7/5 so I'll round up to 4/5. I'll be back, hungry for more.

Great place to grab drinks and a bite to eat. The jalapeño wontons and cheese curds were fried fresh and delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Prices were reasonable

This has quickly become one of my favorite bar and grill restaurants. I am SO happy to find an amazing fish-fry only 10 minutes away from home! Prior to this (for my entire 20 years in the Madison area) I have been going to Oakcrest Tavern in Middleton for my fish fry fix. (I still think they have an amazing fish fry). But Paoli Pub and Grill is right up there with them! We've tried the perch, cod, and deep fried shrimp. All amazing! You get a choice of potatoes and the cowboy potatoes (a loaded hash brown casserole) are to die for. Prices are very reasonable! I have also been here for breakfast on Sunday and it's very good as well. Great bloody Mary's too! Go to Paoli! It's worth the drive!

Everything about the place is unique and welcoming, from the regulars, to the dog Lucy, and especially Pat the owner and bartender. All made us feel welcome, even if we were first-timer tourists. The atmosphere is exceedingly unique and cool, with many personal touches all around the place. Lots of Blatz beer memorabilia, brand new shuffleboard table, a giant elk, moose antlers, vintage skis, an Elvis clock, cobalt glass bottles, a handmade bar, and lots more eclectic decor. The beer selection was top notch, and even better taps than we found in New Glarus, where everything seems to be New Glarus beer all the time (nothing wrong with that). Really good focus on local and regional brewers, there were taps from Titletown, Common Thread, Hop Garden (Belleville), Lena, Vintage, Central Waters, Summit, and Hinterland. New Glarus Berliner Weisse in the cooler, along with old standbys and unique craft beers. Another plus is that they update the beer list on beermenus. If beer isn't your thing, they also had an impressive selection of over 40 whiskeys. We didn't think they served food here, but lucked out since there was a Saturday special of homemade pork/chicken gumbo, which was served with homemade cornbread and bourbon butter. It was really tasty. The owner used to be a chef and ran a restaurant here prior to opening the Ale House. Our bill for two beers, gumbo and a big pretzel was $16, that's cheap for such high quality. They are only open 3 days a week, and it's just one guy running the show. If you are traveling a distance or bringing a group it would be wise to call ahead. The one-star reviews here reflect more on shortsighted personal entitlement than the establishment, from my experience.

My husband had cheese curds and chicken bacon ranch wrap with fries. The wrap was generous and chicken was tender and fried. I had the chicken salad sandwich with fries. I have not had a chicken salad sandwich in a very long time and was not disappointed. The chicken was chunky, complimented with sweet cranberries and served on wheat toast. The coziness, friendliness and food options gave off a small town feel. If in the area a good option for food.

Super friendly service serving food that tastes great! Started with the Frickles...crispy breaded pickle chips served with ranch...not greasy and cooked just right. I had a cup of their New Glarus chili which is made fresh daily with New Glarus beer loaded with beef, tomatoes, beans and spices. Topped with sour cream and local cheddar cheese. I skipped the diced onions. It was so good I wish I ordered a bowl! My wife had their homemade chicken salad sandwich on a gluten free bun (1.00 extra). The chicken salad had dried cranberries and pecans which made it super delicious. For a side she had their homemade bean salad. A great place to stop to try local beers and homemade food while enjoying the small town of New Glarus!

I had a token and needed lunch so after a quick scan on Yelp, we decided to check out Ott Haus. And I was not disappointed. The building is cute and kinda small. It definitely had an older feel, kinda dive bar-ish but it was clean. They have bar seating, a handful of tables, and a beer garden area. It gets a little crowded pretty quickly so you may make some new friends if you share a table. The service was great and the owner was super nice. She answered questions and was very accommodating. They have New Glarus beer on tap, duh. But also domestics, cocktails, and soft drinks. I had a strawberry rhubarb beer from New Glarus and absolutely loved it. I also had a PBR which is my stand by. Based on the reviews, we had to try the cheese curds. They come with a dill ranch. They weren't greasy at all. They were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. The ranch was a tasty accompaniment. Highly recommend and would order again. For my entree, I ordered the Beer Cheese Bacon Burger: 1/2 pound burger cooked medium with beer cheese and bacon on a pretzel bun. This was probably my favorite meal of my Wisconsin vacation. The burger patty was delicious and seasoned well. The pretzel bun held everything together and paired perfectly with the creamy beer cheese sauce. The bacon was an added bonus. I opted for tater tots for a side and enjoyed dipping them in that extra beer cheese. This was seriously one of the best burgers I've eaten in a looooong time. It's probably good that I live 500 miles away because my waist line and wallet would take a beating. I highly recommend stopping in and grabbing a drink and food. I will be back the next time I'm in town.
