A historic corner tavern since 1880 in New Glarus . During Oktoberfest we stopped in for lunch. Service was quick and friendly. It reminded me of an old time diner . My husband had cheese curds and chicken bacon ranch wrap with fries. The wrap was generous and chicken was tender and fried. I had the chicken salad sandwich with fries. I have not had a chicken salad sandwich in a very long time and was not disappointed. The chicken was chunky, complimented with sweet cranberries and served on wheat toast. The coziness, friendliness and food options gave off a small town feel. If in the area a good option for food. read more

A small little pub located in New Glarus offers an easygoing atmosphere serving up burgers, chili, local brews with outdoor dining and beer garden. Super friendly service serving food that tastes great! Started with the Frickles...crispy breaded pickle chips served with ranch...not greasy and cooked just right. I had a cup of their New Glarus chili which is made fresh daily with New Glarus beer loaded with beef, tomatoes, beans and spices. Topped with sour cream and local cheddar cheese. I skipped the diced onions. It was so good I wish I ordered a bowl! My wife had their homemade chicken salad sandwich on a gluten free bun (1.00 extra). The chicken salad had dried cranberries and pecans which made it super delicious. For a side she had their homemade bean salad. A great place to stop to try local beers and homemade food while enjoying the small town of New Glarus! read more

Great friendly fast service in a historic building right in the heart of New Glarus. It was Oktoberfest so big crowds in town but they handled it very well. I appreciated that they could make my chicken salad sandwich on a gluten free bun for only $1 extra. I chose the zesty bean salad as my side as the knowledgeable waitress said the French fries were not made in a dedicated fryer. It was nice to have an alternative that was so delicious. We would come back when in the area. read more

Why haven't I eaten here before now??? I read some Yelp reviews and people like their food, so we checked out Tofflers for lunch on a busy New Glarus Saturday. We elected to dine in the huge outdoor area....and I mean huge, with various levels and many tables that had sun umbrellas. Awesome. Our server was super personable and attentive. Our food didn't take long, and all three of us were very impressed with our lunches. Be sure to order their house-made potato chips served warm. They are outstanding! read more

In New Glarus on a Thursday, we decided to check out Tofflers for dinner for 2 reasons... 1. Their menu looked really good and 2. They had Amazon Prime and it was Thursday Night Football. Upon arriving, we were greeted immediately and got a high top table on the bar side so we could see the TV. We asked them if they could put the football game on and that was immediately done for us! It was quite busy during our time there but the server was very attentive and friendly! We tried the friend pickles and cheese curds, which were delicious! We mainly drank Busch Light cans but I was delighted, being in Wisconsin for the night, to see a Grasshopper on the menu so I got that and it was so yummy! My husband tried a peanut butter Old Fashioned. For our entrees, my husband ordered the Knuckle Sandwich, which was beef cheeks, something he hadn't tried before. I ordered the French Dip. We had all plans to eat at the restaurant but as it was getting busier there was a group of 4 who were clearly just standing around until a table came open. They must have noticed that we had a 4 top even though there were only 2 of us and thought they could take it upon themselves (one lady) to set her wine glass on our table and lean on our table, which made it shake constantly. We were hoping it was only temporary and they'd find a table but it just went on and on. Instead of getting into to any sort of argument, we simply asked our server if we could get our food to go, which she happily obliged. Sad to have our fun time there end on a rather annoying note but we would probably try to go back there if we are ever staying in New Glarus again. read more

This little pub had a great outdoor area and great service. The pesto chicken sandwich I had was simple and tasty! I also really enjoyed the fried pickles. If you are looking for a local spot while you bike, hike or explore in the New Glarus area, I'd recommend checking this place out on a nice day when you can sit outside. read more

We went on a Sunday in winter, so not the busiest of times but service was great. Very accommodating. Food is typical bar food but they offered nice salads, too. And the place was bright and clean. Would go back in summer to go to their garden seating. read more

We came with a large group of youth hockey players and their families. The staff was very kind, patient and organized making our night go very smoothly. We even arrived late (due to inclement weather) and they were very gracious. We would definitely go back! read more

The perfect pit stop for a bite to eat and a cold drink on a busy summer day. Service was friendly and prompt. Enjoyed very much!

We stopped here for breakfast because they had a breakfast menu on the web. The place has been a few different restaurants and bars throughout the years and this was the first time I have had the food from the current restaurant. The place has all the charm of an old structure with the wood ceiling, floors and walls but decorated with modern colors and looked like a nice place. The bar has seating in front with a dining room in the back. The breakfast menu is small but we all found something to eat. The corn beef hash was calling me but would it be can or something house made. The food was slow coming at about 25 minutes but I was not in a hurry. The sourdough toast looked very promising but it was slightly better than average and not that bakery artisan kind that you find sometimes. The sunny sunny side eggs were were perfect. The corn beef hash was good looking with big chunks of corn beef with more beef than potatoes so no skimping on the meat here. The corn beef hash had small dice potatoes, green peppers, red and white onion which totally satisfied my corn beef hash breakfast. On a side note, I didn't have the coffee but two tables complained that it was not hot and our table said that's it's not good coffee. I had no problem with my breakfast and I would definitely stop back if my friends would come back. read more

This place is completely wonderful! We got here right at noon on a Saturday, a game day. Seating: Seated right away, the host stand was right by the door. Obviously the seating for the low tops were full, but the high tops were empty of people. And tthey have outdoor seating which was not filled. The large TVs made for good viewing of the game. Our server was the sweetest most attentive server to not only us but to anyone who came in. The whole staff worked together too man the desk and help out. Accessibility: The main entrance is a stairs but they do have a handicap entrance in the back. With a sign by the front entrance. The seats for the low tops are very strong and sturdy chairs. The spacing between tables was great to allow you to now be smushed when walking around, no one in our group has an issue. Since this restaurant is in a small older house, the bathrooms are single stall and small. It didnt have any rails or anything and it was a narrow/sharp turn from the door opening to the stall. So I can imagine getting in with a wheelchair would be difficult. Food and Drinks: we ordered the cheese curds, 10/10. Crispy but not oily. They are very "VFW fair stand", completely Midwest staple. My fiancé had a Ruben with fries, can't give a review of the Ruben from my POV. But he said 9/10, it was fresh and crunchy. The meat was tasty! I got to try his fries, 9.5/10 they taste homemade! Very "potato-y". Also my MIL said "this is the best burger I've had in a long time, she had the fungi burger. This place is a must see in town. Very happy the Glarner Stube was closed as we wouldn't have had found this GEM! read more

First and foremost the food was subpar. Chicken pesto sandwich was very bland, the Reuben had 2 pieces of meat on it, little kraut and the meat was extremely tough - most chewed and the left on the plate. It needs a good cleaning, especially the bathroom which had NO soap. I told the waitress and she could not find any so use your imagination!!! The prices are decent but not worth the product served. I cannot in all good conscience recommend this restaurant. read more

Great food, rude service. Got there at 11:15 on a Sunday morning, let the host know we would like to sit at a table in the bar if that was ok to which she replied, "no problem! " We were then served by one the rudest servers both myself and my friend have ever encountered. After waiting 50 mins for a piece of Avocado Toast and a Breakfast sandwich, I politely asked if she knew when our food was going to be ready, as we had more plans that day. She simply said that "if we would have let the host seat us we would've known the food was going to take awhile." Not only did she have ample time to let us know that the food was slow that day, for some reason unknown to the naked eye, but never offered an apology or anything remotely friendly. Won't be returning. read more

A staple in the neighborhood, Tofflers does a serviceable job with a good beer selection. The Knuckle sandwich was great with pulled beef, Swiss cheese and horseradish sauce on a softly toasted bun. The Sliders were three hand formed beef patties and sweet potato fries were also on point. A step above typical bar fare with attentive staff though short staffing in the kitchen makes for longer wait times. The outdoor patio in the back was a welcome break from the full bar inside. read more

Food is excellent, a cut above typical tavern fare. Fried cheese curds are amazing, a few good salads and excellent burgers. Even a primo veggie burger. My wife and I have eaten there many times...we live in New Glarus. There's a outdoor deck and stage for live music in back of the tavern. Usually live music on Thursday nights in the summer. The Jimmys on occasion! Service has always been great, very friendly and helpful. read more

Very good food, had the hamburger, others had a wrap, Ruben and shrimp special. Also received the free new glarus beer from the brewery tour. Service was ok, waitress was a little lackluster though she was also being the bartender when we were leaving so she was maybe just overworked. The young man who seated us was more upbeat. The restaurant is located in a older, historic building with a bar and indoor/outdoor seating. We sat indoors. read more

We had a really good time at Tofflers Pub & Grill. The hostess was helpless when we were there and we had a difficult time getting a table or really any information, but we were still able to eventually be seated. They had a live band outside and, based on the following of people there, he was pretty popular in the area. It was really engaging and fun. The food was good and the drinks were plentiful. This was not our first time here although it was the busiest we had seen it with a full patio. I would definitely come back here again - I just hope they continue to work on their service. read more

We got the chicken salad sandwich which was very good. The waitress we had was fast and very friendly. She checked in on us a few times to see if we needed anything. We sat outside which had some tables and the lower part of the outdoor area were more tables with a stage for bands. We will go back again. read more

Party of 3, came in on a Saturday at 3pm. Hostess found us a seat right away in the side dining room. Ordered some Fried Pickles, soft pretzels, sliders, and chili. The pretzels were good, the pickles and sliders were mid, not great or horrible. But the chili. The chili was so cold it was inedible. 1st visit here. Our server Devon was a real sport. We arrived 1hr before Prime rib dinner time and asked if she could just go to the kitchen and push the clock ahead. I settled for a burger which was good and my wife (who is a picky eater) went with the bbq pork sandwich. I sampled and was good. The bean salad as a side is better than the coleslaw so I would recommend that. We were asked if we needed anything else after we ate and I rambled off all kinds of random things, like jello, cheese cake, carrot cake, it all came back with no we don't have that. But made her day to have a good chuckle and smile. Great staff makes a great place to go. Thanks again. read more

We stopped by Tofflers for breakfast Sunday morning at the end of a weekend camping while waiting for the brewery to open. The location is nicely situated in the main area of shops and restaurants in New Glarus, and is welcoming and casual. We were able to use our free beer coupons received from the brewery, and our breakfasts were delicious. I ordered the Eggs Benedict which was a little salty but hit the spot, and came with good hash browns (for only $6.95!). My significant other ordered the daily special scramble, which was also excellent. The service was pleasant, prompt, and attentive. Our breakfasts ended up being under $20, which is pretty fantastic for two meals, and were definitely a good deal. I would return to Tofflers on our next visit to the brewery, and would recommend it as a good place to stop by. read more

They get an extra star for their stringent COVID guidelines and super sweet staff. Spouse said the burger was excellent, but the chicken salad made me sad. Watery with no defining flavors. Hold on though, the cornbread that came with it? I would come back just for that. Hot out of the oven and with flecks of corn and lots of butter to put on it. I mean, if you are going to have a heart attack on a plate, this is a good way to go. Nice beer choices, good prices. read more

Still a good place for live music but it is now about 1 to 2 dollars per drink higher than all the other places within blocks. My favorite menu item, the catfish, is gone. I've had a few instances of gastric disturbance that could only be due to eating there. I just got a Reuben sandwich there last night for $12.50 that had no more than 2 ounces of meat. I have no axe to grind. I have no idea what is causing these changes. Balance this with my other review. I just want to keep things straight. read more

There are several options for dining in New Glarus WI. Tofflers is my favorite. I like the casual bar atmosphere and wonderful outdoor patio. The staff is social and knowledgeable about the menu. Portions are good. Burgers are tasty. Not too big but more than enough food. They have love music outside on weekends. read more

Visited the town of New Glarus over the 4th of July holiday weekend. Sadly for our group of six, the town was ill-equipped for the lunchtime rush and we joined the groups navigating town on foot, seeking an air-conditioned respite with the shortest wait for curds. I'm writing this review because upon walking into Tofflers, after standing around for a good five minutes, a frantic hostess finally approached us and simply told us "Sorry, I have no tables" shrugged, and walked away. No offer to take our name, no wait time given, nothing. read more

When in New Glarus: Eat, Drink. Rinse, Repeat. So that we did. I had the (elusive) French Dip which ill usually grab if it's on a menu, when done right it's hard to beat. Great spot to listen to some local music, get some food, and have a few drinks. Music: The Jimmy's were playing tonight. The keyboardist was amazing. And he's a dairy farmer by day blues pianist by night. Crazy. Food & Drink: Had a fish sandwich and fries that was delicious. Beer is definitely the preferred drink here. At one point I ordered a Glenlivet on the rocks. Apparently people don't order that much here since the bartender didn't know how much to charge me for it and also poured me a huge glass of it, as if it was wine. Score! People: Super friendly crowd. Partied with old folks in New Glarus (pop. 2,174). Tofflers is not what I think of when I think about going to a pub- this place is bright and open. It even has carpet! It's in a historic building, which is nice, and I liked the vibe overall. It was a nice change of pace. It looks like there's a bar area, more of a sit down area and a patio. We stuck to the indoor bar area. We had a super nice server, who was efficient and on top of things. I required that we order fried cheese curds, since we were in Wisconsin, and since I'd read someone else call them the best ever. These did not disappoint and truly were the best I'd ever had! I've had cheese curds in the past that were all breading and air inside, and real tiny ones that get over done. These were about the size of half my finger, perfectly cooked, hot (not not too hot) and totally filled with cheese. I recommend the remoulade option too for dipping. That was fantastic. I am dreaming of those curds! My guy and I also ordered burgers. We were not asked how we wanted them cooked, but they came out juicy and like a medium well- fine by me! They had great flavor, the bacon that I added to mine was semi crispy, and the bbq sauce I added was a perfect amount- like a nice drizzle, not a big cupful of it on there. The bread it came on was also amazing. It was a white roll but so soft and bready- not fake bagged bun-like, if you get what I mean. I've never been so into a burger bun before! The fries were just OK though, nothing to write home about. Now, onto drinks-- you can use the New Glarus coupon there (from the brewery) and they had 4/5 of their tap options which that applied to. And yes, there are 5 new glarus taps there! My guy got another craft beer that he loved, and I got a Not Your Father's Rootbeer in the bottle. The drinks were like $4.50 each too, which blew us away. Drinking is so much better in Wisconsin, sheesh! Everyone we ran into at the bar was super nice and welcoming. They have new glarus beers at the front when you first walk in to buy and take home too!! read more
