Hired them to clean the stopped bathroom sink drain. The phone quote was $125/hr plus parts. The plumber snaked the drain but had to replace the p-trap and the popper pipe in the drain for a "low price" of $225, which I saw on the bill only. He spent exactly 1 hour at the property. read more

After buying a water heater with a warranty three years ago, it stopped working. I called the company and they said it was not under warranty. Just the tank and not the part.? so it wound up costing $650 for a part? After calling the company to explain, they also charged me $50 for a service call. I had Donlon Plumbing come to my house to do 2 small projects - replace a hose faucet and install a kitchen faucet. The plumber did a good job and was friendly. I paid by check. When I called to schedule the job the lady who answered was not very friendly. Several days later I received an invoice for the same job, but for $25 less. When I called to ask about this,the same lady was very rude and told me to ignore it. When I asked about the different $ amount she rudely said "it's been entered". Our area was hit hard by a winter storm in December 2023, I didn't think it was possible for anyone to make it to our house let alone want to work with the weather. Joey B was scheduled between 8-10a, was here by 8:45a and quickly reviewed the job. He left to grab a part, returned quickly and ended up knocking the job out in pouring rain! I called Donlon Plumbing because while I was doing laundry I had some flooding, when I called first the girl said that they couldnt come that same day (Mon) but Wedn they could, I mentioned that I would just call some one else and suddenly they could come Tuesday between 11 and 2pm, they couldn;t clear the back up, they used 2 different machines (snakes) one cost me $125.00 the longer one cost $225 + time , but they recommended to call someone else since it was a main drain problem and they don't specialize in that, so I called they office and I was charged 3% for paying with a CC, I called the office to pay but I wasn't sure of the total ($450.00), the girl said she would calla the tech to get the total and suddenly it was $475.00+3%, if I wouldn't have written down the total I would have paid extra $25 abd my drain is still a problemNEVER AGAIN I WILL USE THEM. read more

These are the people you call to fix a plumbing issue! We called another plumber to come fix a bad clogged toilet, and he ended up walking out on the job. He stated that the machine was "too heavy" to do fix the clog and didn't wanna carry it upstairs. So after all that, we were left with a dirty clogged toilet. We searched and searched, and found Donlon. Their trucks are all over the Oxnard area and even in our neighborhood. I called them Thursday and they set up an appointment for Monday. David was our plumber. He was very nice and professional! Called to let me know he was 20 minutes away. Once he arrived he had all his materials (unlike the other company that had to use our tools including a plunger). Tried to do the clog without removing the toilet, but saw it was worse so he had to remove it. He got the machine upstairs, and went down 15 feet and was able to remove the debris from the clog. He cleaned it up and set our toilet back up, even sealed it! He was there only a couple hours and charged us $300 for everything, much more affordable than most plumbers in the area! I hired them 3 years ago to install a new toilet, install a ball valve shut off at the main, install ball valve at each toilet and ball valve at the water heater. The ball valves at the toilets and the water heater were billed flat rate ($95 each) which took about 10 minutes in the bathrooms and a bit longer at the water heater since they needed to cut the pipes. No issues with these services, although I felt I should have been charged time and materials instead of flat rate because I was having them do so many jobs all at once. Now heres's where the problems are. The quoter they sent me was the new guy and spent a really long time on the phone to give me an estimate. The Ball valve at the MAIN SHUT OFF was installed UPSIDE DOWN. This is a big deal because if I needed to shut off the water in an emergency, i would first need to dig a hole next to the pipe because the valve lever would hit the dirt, had I not noticed, this could have been a big problem. I notified them immediately and they came back right away and repositioned the lever instead of removing the valve and reinstalling it correctly. It was an acceptable fix for me. Not perfect but it works. The toilet installation was for my renter in the master bedroom, and they didn't tell me it was loose until they moved out. Of course they are not going to warranty a service that was performed a year ago or more, but in my opinion the job should have been completed and the toilet should not have come loose. Had they offered to repair the toilet I would have several more jobs for them. I recommend finding a small local handy man for these types of jobs. read more

They came out to fix several things the same week: a leaky sink and a leaky pipe. Pros: they call when they are on your way, and some of their plumbers keep you in the loop with what they are doing and when they are done. Besides the service charge, the prices are pretty reasonable. Cons: they charge you $85 for each "service call" even if they are at the same property on the same day and you have more than one thing you want them to look at. Also, they misdiagnosed a leaky pipe and changed me for fixing a leaky faucet that didn't need to be replaced. I also got different information from different plumbers: one said 1-2 hours max to fix something and the other said 3-4. We really liked the first tech who came. I wish I had gotten his name. read more

We noticed a water leak around the shower. We had American Leak Detection come and and determine the leak was coming from shower head connector. We called Donlon Plumbing that day and they were able to come out in the afternoon and fix the problem and also check the other shower. Thought our water heater busted so I called Mike w/ Donlon Plumbing. Said he's get a guy over the following day 11/23/22 to fix it. Anthony came by 8am and ready to handle business. He replaced the water heater quickly with his partner. They left and everything was great. Until it wasn't... the leak came back. Called Mike and told him and within the hour another plumber came by with another NEW heater! Also a quick and nice job. They left and I was getting ready to take a nice hot shower. And guess what. The leak was back. Needless to say I was very upset. At this time I was facing the reality of taking cold showers till Friday smh. We had the best experience with Mike of Donlon Plumbing today! We've had Donlon out (repeatedly) because we live in a 1929 California bungalow in Ventura so we have some older pipes plus a toddler who gets strange things down them somehow in the course of bath~time :) Donlon plumbers have been consistently highly professional, courteous, and very effective. However, I have to say that Mike is the best plumber we have personally interacted with, from any company, when it comes to thoroughness in investigation and diagnosis, in effective resolution of the issue, and in communication with his clients. More importantly, he goes beyond what any other plumber has done as far as kindness. We have an almost 2 1/2 year old here who had such a great time participating with Mike, watching the snaking of the drain (from a safe distance, of course:), following Mike to the drain clear out area, investigating other possibly connected areas, and even being included by Mike as helping in the investigation. Mike was so kind to make him feel included and to take the time to interact with him in such a positive and friendly way that brought joy to his day. Mike even said in front of Jacob that we knew that the problem in one area had been fixed because Jacob had put the drain cover on (his attempt to help and get involved, other than following Mike everywhere) and it would have moved if there had been an issue down the line. Somewhere in there he also said "one for me, one for the plumber" and brought Mike an apple, not to mention a cheese stick. We simply have never had such a great experience with any plumber. Jacob insisted on walking Mike out and sitting on a little wall and waiting. Then the little blue truck drove off and we were waving. Jacob said Mike had other places to go. As he drove off, Jacob said "there goes the little blue truck" ~ which, as fellow toddler parents know (and toddlers too), is that great "Little Blue Truck" series which is all about meeting and helping on the road of life and being kind. We talked about how Mike was off to help others and what a great thing it is that plumbers do to help people and how he drives that little blue truck. And I feel like Jacob had a genuinely great experience because Mike cared, frankly, to a "Little Blue Truck" level and he communicated that ~ and that is rare for plumbers or for anywhere. So thanks to Donlon Plumbing and to Mike ~ Jacob & I cannot recommend them highly enough! read more

Donlon Plumbing has sent plumbers to fix a clog a while ago and just today 6/7/2018 to fix a long term seepage issue in the wall. Peter Donlon communicated via email and pretty quickly too. He gave me a couple estimated based on the type of fix. Raoul did a good job of identifying the problem and assessing the solution. First simple fix wasn't going to work so he went to #2 and it worked great. No leaks, good work, and clean up. Good guys working hard and fair prices. I am very sad to write this review, but unfortunately, the service level has dropped in my experience with Donlon Plumbing. Had a drain backup within less than 2 weeks of initial cleaning, and was charged double ($350) for cleaning the drain. Called and tried to see if they will work with me since it was not reasonable to be charged twice, when the work was not done properly the first time. The lady on the phone was very cordial, and her manager did try to give me a very small discount, but they felt it was still necessary to charge for both visits, which is not ethical in my opinion. I paid them the total amount, but I am going to find another service. Wish them the best. read more
