I used to go here. I have paid over thousands of dollars for eyeglasses and cringe when I found out i could get same or better glasses at an online store like zeelool for $70/pair. Their prices are waaaay inflated. They also charged $1000 for a visit I thought I needed, come to find out it was definitely not the norm and extremely inflated. My tipping point, why I quit going... is bc they are inconsistent in their pricing. At first a visit was $160, then when I checked out, I only owed $40, that's good but...the doctor who knew exactly what I needed bc he sold contacts to me before and knew that's what I was currently wearing didn't give me my contacts prescription, that's ok I just call and ask for it..,nope...that will be $75 extra dollars. He knew I wasn't getting my contacts through him so he charged more. Get it together people! Charge same amount to every customer. You don't get to pick who gets charged more bc their instance pays you less or they decide to save money and get their contacts cheaper elsewhere. Quit taking advantage of people! SHAME! read more

I've been going here for two years and received good care. However today, I was put on a machine that took a bright flash picture of each eye. After the end of the exam I was told I owed $39 for this procedure. I should have been given the choice for this and told it was not covered by insurance. read more

I was very satisfied with the service I received at this office. The front desk were very nice and the doctor seemed very thorough. I loved their glasses. They let me know they we're getting a new brand of glasses in the next day so I waited till the next day to get my glasses. I was very pleased and purchased from the new line. I do not recommend this business to anyone. I went there for the first time a few months ago, and had a bad experience. I had my eyes examined, and received my prescription, left, got my glasses from somewhere else. When I received my glasses, and found that my vision had not improve, I went back to Donelson Eyecare, I was told that part of the prescription had been left off by Dr. Parsley. After he screamed at me that he had not done anything wrong, I spoke with the manager, who told me that there was nothing he could do. I haven't been to the eye doctor in almost 2.5years, so I thought I should make an appointment-- especially since I pay for vision insurance. I chose Donelson EyeCare because of its close proximity to home, as well as the great reviews. It was nice being able to book an appointment time online and not have to call in to the office. Once there I was greeted right away, and I was actually taken back to the exam room within 5 minutes (that's pretty rare these days). The student and optometrist were very welcoming and kind. They acted like my eye health was their top priority. The only reason for the 4 stars is because I wish they had a slightly larger selection of frames. Otherwise a great experience! read more

So, I can't speak of the Doctors here, because I didn't get that far. Let me tell you what I did get. 8 minutes of hold time (without an explanation or apology), just to start to take my information(new patient), placed me on hold for an additional 5 1/2 minutes and get blindly transferred to another person. When I asked if this was the same person I was just speaking to (though I knew it wasn't), they hung up on me. Yes, hung up. Nice, professional medical business processes, huh. 13 1/2 minutes of hold time just to hang up. Must be nice. Wish I could do that at my job with no repercussions. I'm literally appalled. read more

I've worn glasses since I was in 2nd grade. I have extensive experience in the eye-checking arena. I was in need of an optometrist in Nashville, so of course I turned to the internet. Donelson Eye Care had the best reviews, and as a bonus they are right down the street from me. So I made my appointment and crossed my fingers. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE! BEST -- THE BEST -- eye appointment I have ever had. By the time I left, I felt the entire staff were friends I'd known for year. Friendly, knowledgeable and caring. They have way better technology than any of my old optometrists had, and they took the time to explain every single test. I learned more about my eyes in half an hour than I'd learned in 20+ years. When they informed me my "month long" contacts were actually two-week contacts (I had no idea!) and I was wearing them too long... they weren't condescending, mean or rude. They told me gently and with a great sense of humor that didn't make me feel dumb at all. It was just a light bulb moment. I don't care where I may live in the middle Tennessee area... Very bad experience! Very unprofessional staff! I did the retina exam and after asking for a copy they said tomorrow and every time I call they came with an excuse ... when we went to another doctor and needed to just get a copy for my prescription they refused to give it and the other clinic said they tried to call them several times and they were very very unprofessional!! Although their doctor was not that bad the staff was useless and they all seems to hate their job and reflect that on their costumers treatment. read more

Up until a week ago I would have recommend this company. It was easy to make appointments. There were friendly employees and they didn't harass me about dilution. This week, I saw heck to the NO! I had appointment 1 year ago and I just receive a bill for over $250 for a contact lens exam! WTH that a freaking car payment or an electric bill. These folks are tying to tell me, now, that I was not eligible for an exam at the time I came in after I was told they check my insurance and I was good. Kinda seems like someone dropped the ball on verifying insurance and I am being ask to pay for their incompetence! Who the heck dropped the ball on this? I'd like for them to be held responsible! 4 stars, because the doctors are great, ladies in the reception as well. The glasses area -meh... Less than a year ago I bought some nice Calvin Klein metal glasses (aviator style), they were covered by my eye insurance, but I still paid a pretty penny for them! So yes, they were expensive. I have had to take them twice for 'adjustments'. The pad arm broke off, so I took them in today, the first thing Ross tells me is that there is nothing they can do for me!! I asked him "why??, these glasses are expensive and are not even a year old", only then did he proceed to get my record, then tells me: we are backlogged or back ordered, so it might be awhile before we get them in. We will call you... so I left feeling totally unappreciated. I have been a customer here for several years and the service has really gone down hill. While they say they will call you and let you know about something you had a question on, they regularly fail to make those follow up calls. Nor do they keep you informed on the status of an order. On more than one occasion I have had to chase them down (literally calling several time because they don't call you back) to find out what the status is on the contact order I placed two weeks ago. The only thing that I can recommend them over anyone else is their location, if you live in the Donelson area. If you have another choice that is closer I would recommend trying them first. read more

This place is fantastic. It had been over 10 years since my last eye exam, so I was a little weary of where to go. From the appointment scheduling on, the receptionist was so nice! She offered me coffee and airplane cookies, extra points for snacks. The rest of the staff was very helpful. I loved that some of the paperwork was laminated and given to me to sign with a dry-erase marker, how eco-friendly! Worst experience ever... I have wore progressive lenses for over 25 yrs and when I got my "NEW GLASSES" $360.00 (after insurance) I CAN NOT SEE OUT OF THEM!!!! I had my lenses made 3 times and Christy states I am confident of my measurements but for some reason I have to throw my head backwards to use my bifocal:( I requested to see the Dr. and was told that is not how it works. So after 1 month they refuse to refund my money and state they will make me a pair of computer glasses. I thought that was why I ordered progressive lenses so I would only have 1 pair of glasses. Well I get my "New Computer Glasses" low and behold I CAN NOT SEE OUT TOF THEM EITHER. Very disappointed that they will not honor their glasses after myself and my insurance have paid them over $900.00 together. BAD BUSINESS!!!! read more

I've been wearing glasses for about 20 years. Being "cost conscience" I would always go to the shopping mall eye clinics. After complaining about vision problems, a very good friend said "stop being Mr Cheap and go to a REAL eye clinic and stop whining!" So, my so called friend recommended Donnelson Eye Clinic and I have been a customer since 2008. Could not be more happy with their services. Exams are very thorough and the prescriptions have been spot on. They use the top of the line optometry equipment, glasses and glass frames- it's been well worth every dime! I love the staff too! This place is outragrously expensive. They helped me pick out glasses and got me really excited to only find out they were $800, with my insurance. Terrible! Especially when I can order the same ones online for $100. My eye doctor from Illinois charged about $75 for the entire visit + glasses + contacts (without insurance!). This goes to show you how much they overcharge everything. They do push the 3d eye mapping, it really isn't necessary and costs extra if your insurance doesn't cover it. They don't warn you when your insurance doesn't cover it either. A week ago, I got a call from them saying I had an appointment the next day and I hadn't even scheduled an appointment. I have actually moved out of the area and didn't even have the need to have an appointment there. This week, I got a bill in the mail with no explanation of what it was for. When I called, they said it was for a co-pay they "failed to receive" for my 2014 appointment. I asked why this was the first time I was hearing about it and they said, "Sorry... you still owe the co-pay." Supposedly the $72 I gave them last year wasn't good enough. This place just makes me want to cry. Stop taking money from me! Stop waiting until a year goes by to bill me for some small expense you should've billed me for when I was there that day with all the other fees you charged me for! read more

I have been going to Lenscrafters for YEARS and I decided to try a different location out for my eye exam this year. I started off being impressed-the location is clean and friendly, but it quickly turned. From the moment I walked in, I was being sold to. I mentioned being interested in Lasik-the doctor (who was wearing glasses) said she was a big fan and that she had it done years ago, when minutes before she was bragging about these new contacts she was wearing and recommending (but it's ok! because they are only $2 more a day on your ALREADY expensive contact lenses! I'm sorry, I don't know many people that can afford $1200 a year on contacts) I told the first lady that because I was waiting on money in an HSA for next year, that today all I wanted to do was purchase 1 box of contacts and some new sunglasses. After the doctor checked me out (who again! was very nice! I'm not upset about that!), I spoke with the woman in charge of their frames. She tried pushing many things on me that I was not interested in getting. On top of that, I wanted to purchase the basic Ray Ban aviator sunglasses in gold-which they did not have (VERY low selection on frames). First, she tried to push sunglasses on me that I was not interested in. Then, she went back to order it for me. When she came back, she didn't even check if the price was ok or if I wanted to proceed with the purchase-she just did it. The sunglasses came to $208-I am no dummy. I have done my homework on these glasses. They retail for $180. On top of that, there are several websites you can get them for less than that. No way was I paying $30 over retail value. She then proceeded to make me feel bad about not being able to afford them. Finally, I went to pay and leave and get my ONE box of contacts. I am a huge Coastal.com fan (if you haven't, you should DEFINITELY check them out! Great selections and customer service for an EXTREMELY reasonable price!) and I knew that my contacts for one box cost $52 on their website-Donelson Eye Care charged me $65. I left (obviously) not happy that on my already limited salary at the holidays I had to shell out more than market value. The last straw was that a few days after my appointment, I got a phone call saying my contacts were ready and I could pick them up. NOT ONCE in my appointment did I say I wanted to order a years supply of contacts. I can go on Coastal and purchase them for $20 less a box. Listen, the staff was great. They were friendly. I felt like I had a great eye exam. I just did not appreciate that I felt like from beginning to end I was being sold to. Many of us are on tight budgets and I didn't need to feel bad for not purchasing their over priced eyewear. I'm glad I gave them a shot, but in the future I will have to go elsewhere. read more
