SEE, Nashville 21st Ave I'm writing this as a husband. My wife spent over a thousand dollars at SEE, and this was already her second trip driving 35 miles to pick up her glasses. One pair was fine, but the other pair she literally could not see through. Instead of helping, the saleswoman made my wife feel like it was her fault. She asked questions like, "This is a 24, do you want me to order a 25?" My wife had no idea what that even meant, and kept saying, "I just want to see." The exchange reduced her to tears. Thankfully, a salesman eventually stepped in and seemed to get the order right, but here we are nearly two weeks later and still no glasses. The worst part is the timing. This week was my wife's grand opening of her business, complete with ribbon cutting and photos. She bought new glasses specifically for that important moment, and instead had to wear her old, scratched pair. She was miserable on a day that should have been nothing but joy. As a husband, I recommend you take your wives somewhere else. The drama at SEE does not warrant their bougie glasses at high prices. I can only hope our next trip to pick up my wife's glasses is not a repeat of this mess. read more

My husband saw a commercial about the glasses that will replace all of your glasses called Clarity Blue Glasses. We ordered them and to our surprise, THEY DIDN'T WORK!!!! They really talk it up on TV, they adjust to your vision, any prescription, That's the first wrong they made. They said they change to dark lenses out in the sun, that's the second wrong. The third wrong was you can NOT send them back for a refund unless they were damaged. Even at the half price off, these are not worth the price. Do not get scammed like we did. read more

Today was a nerve wracking day for me since I had to get glasses for the first time. Being in my mid-30s and having to make this adulting decision, it really was weighing on me to have to go through this. I know, I know, that sounds a bit dramatic, but really, I was hoping I didn't have to do this until I was in my 40s. #FirstWorldProblems #GoodEyesUntilTheyWeren't What exceptional customer service I had today! I felt at ease when I had the chance to work with Dr. Shea. She was extremely professional and patient with me. She took her time, explained everything she was doing, and informed of information in a way that I comprehended. Keep in mind, this was my first time getting glasses. The ladies that assisted me were fun, outgoing personalities who vibed with me super well, and just overall comforting through the experience. I should also mention I tried on a TON of glasses. I was appreciative of their patience. After having my eye exam, I spent the better half of an hour and a half getting glasses. I couldn't decide! I felt like I was picking out a wedding dress, but with less formality but with as many opinions. I texted my friends and my family to get their two cents since I was so indecisive. What I went in expecting to leave with didn't happen. I got these super funky glasses that are everything I'd want in them. They're fun and definitely versatile. Price-wise, they're on point for what I'd expect to pay. I have insurance. With eye exam, one pair of glasses, and blue glare coding for my lenses, my total was $282. I am not sure what it would cost for everything if I did not have vision insurance through EyeMed. It was worth visiting here and getting glasses here since they have such a vast selection. I found SEE and Dr. Shay simply by searching the best Yelp reviews for optometrists. I had been going to another venue for years (Visionworks), but the last visit was a nightmare, so I was motivated to find someone new. Walking through the doors at SEE for the first time, I instantly experienced amazing customer service: everyone was friendly and professional. Even before the door closed behind me as I entered, one of the staff called out: "You must be Bob!"   Then, it got even better with the exam: Dr. Shay was relational, communicative, intuitive, efficient, and she really CARES about her customers!  In addition, she has the most high-tech equipment I've ever seen. ---- FOLLOW UP:  Moments ago, I put in the trial contacts that Dr. Shay had special ordered for me.  I'M STUNNED!  I don't remember seeing this clearly from any contact lens Rx I've ever received from any optometrist over the decades!  She explained that my previous optometrists had misdiagnosed my astigmatism completely. I have been getting my eye exams and frames since 2018 at this location. They are awesome. No puffs in the eyes. The optometrist Shay is fantastic! She takes time to explain everything and answers all questions humbly. The frame selections are great. All of them are handmade limited frames. High quality frames whether they are sunglasses or just eye glasses. The team (Brian and Betsy) are very friendly and always give you plenty of options to sort out when it comes to the decision of picking new frames. Every See I've ever been to has had great service, high quality product, and accurate and professional eye exams. This Nashville location is no exception - great service, great glasses, great eye exam. The frames and lenses are of the highest quality. The designs are interesting and different, but there are also plenty of traditional options to choose from. Things can get pricey at See, but it's worth the price. They run good sales on frames and lenses often, so keep on the lookout for those. I have an indispensable pair of sunglasses from See and a vintage pair of frames from elsewhere that have transitions lenses from See. Even if I don't buy frames at See I still get my lenses done there because their work and quality is always the best. read more

I love to SEE and I am SO glad that I have found my go to vision in Nashville. Wearing glasses since the age of 6 (!!!), I have been through my moments of low to high eyewear fashion. They have become an extension of me in so many ways and I pair my glasses with my outfits. I care about my eyewear and make very in depth decisions when making a purchase. While living in Japan, I acquired an impressive collection of specs over time. Often times, I was asked by several people if I purchased my glasses at "SEE." Unfortunately, I had to break it to them that "they were from Japan." My friends and strangers alike were crushed. Since I heard "SEE" so many times, I decided to check it out after a very heart breaking incident. My roommate has a pup that I love but he ATE MY FAV GLASSES from Japan one day when I was out! I was in utter shock. Just imagine your favorite (insert here) being eaten and chewed up into oblivion. I contacted my eye company in Japan to purchase another pair but they were SOLD OUT! I knew that I couldn't replace these amazing specs so I decided that a pair of sunglasses would be perfect especially with the weather warming up. Not only did I find one, but TWO!!! See is an ultra-trendy little eyewear boutique in the heart of Hillsboro Village. They have a very hip and neat selection of eyeglasses and sunglasses, but most of their merchandise is pretty expensive. See is walking distance from about five clothing stores and countless restaurants in the Village, so they really have the glasses market cornered in the area. They have a lot of very stylish frames, but most of the glasses hover around $250--even sunglasses. The store itself isn't too large, and there are lots of mirrors so you can check out your frames from every angle and determine whether they make you look more like Rivers Cuomo or Buddy Holly. There are some very colorful (and semi-outlandish) frames at See, but they also have a diverse selection of subtle, dignified looking glasses that will make you look very studious. The staff at See is somewhat helpful, but they don't seem too interested in those who are "just browsing." Regardless, if I need a new pair of glasses soon (and somehow come up with the money to afford a really nice pair), this is where I'll head first. read more

I purchased a Groupon and it was awe-some! I was able to upgrade my lens and not be hammered by prices. I was also able to purchase fun, flirty frames at a reasonable price. I mean really, how often can you do that?? For those of us with poor eyes and even poorer vision insurance SEE is there to rescue us. I wear contacts and glasses. With most insurance companies covering one of the other, we're s*** out of luck, especially when your prescription changes enough and you have to upgrade both. I had been holding off on upgrading my lens for at least three years. Anyway, I used my insurance on the contact lens because it was a better deal. I was bummed for a bit but then I found SEE. It was a relief, I can look good and not pay a million dollars! If you are in the market for glasses check em out, they are the best! I have worn glasses since I was about 7 years old (I'm now 31) and had always gone to Lenscrafters until a little over a year ago. After a really bad customer service experience there I decided to go to SEE after finding out that one of my clients got her adorable pair of cat eye glasses there! And the rest is history! I will never go anywhere else for my glasses!!! This last Saturday I also tried out their eye exam for the first time. Absolutely fantastic! And NO PUFF TEST!!! Yup. You read it right. This doc is cutting edge and has new technology that doesn't require that anxiety inducing puff test. No discomfort whatsoever. She's quick, informative and personable! The folks at SEE truly know what customer service is. It's a personalized experience and they make everyone that comes in feel comfortable. Finding the right specs can be a daunting task, but the stylists there get a feel for what you like and take into consideration your face shape, complexion, hair color, etc and pick out styles for you. When I went in I had a very specific idea of what I wanted in mind. However, I walked out with that and a phenomenal pair of specs the gal picked out for me that I NEVER would have picked for myself. They were so adorable and the prices so reasonable (one of my purchases was from their core collection which is incredibly reasonably priced) that I couldn't pass them up! The pair I got a year ago is still amazing and I will wear them for years to come! Now I have more options!! I get compliments on them everywhere I go! You won't find any brand names in here. These are boutique style and unique. Each store only gets a small amount of each frame (I believe it's about 10) and once those are gone, they're gone! So you won't run into 15 other people wearing the same plain black Versace frames. In fact you will likely not run into anyone with your frames ever!! I've been in the market for a new pair of specs for awhile now-and because I'd seen a Groupon deal that I missed out on for See in the past, I was just waiting for one to come up again. Finally, I was in luck and when a $50 for $200 deal passed through my inbox, I immediately snapped it up with high aspirations of some funky frames in days to come. When I made it over to frame shop, I had an excellent experience trying on everything in the store and found the saleswoman to be very friendly and helpful, making recommendations and acting as my 2nd opinion. I feel for a dark brown pair that has a little blue sheen to them when I turn my face. Perfectly fun-exactly what I was looking for. I didn't even mind that they were about $65 over the Groupon I'd already purchased. They called me within a week to tell me my frames were ready and fitted with the appropriate lenses and then tweaked the fit on my face so that they sat perfectly on my nose. Why the three stars, then? I was totally bummed that they charge an additional $95 for a protective lens coating! I, being a person who wears contacts most of the time, thought about not buying it, but in addition to being protective, it made a huge difference in the clarity of the glasses. Foiled. Moving to Nashville in July opened up the position of ophthalmologist for me in my world. I had received the suggestion to check out SEE in Hillsboro Village for a possible replacement but when I visited SEE, I was rubbed the wrong way. The Pro's: The storefront is modern, bright, and attention is most certainly paid to the eye wear. In fact, trying on frames has to be the best part of getting glasses, even if it is just for reading purposes. I love the fact that each frame is unique to SEE and made in Europe generating that exclusive sort of feeling inside. The salespeople in the showroom demonstrated ambition and dedication to selling you some frames. The Con's: You must have a valid prescription within the last two years, which I do not. Also, I overheard the ophthalmologist is only in the store on Tuesday and Thursday so they suggest you visit a Walmart or Pearle Vision to have your eyes examined then "SEE" them for your frames. The cost of the frames was ridiculous! Everything I saw was in the upper $200.00's except for the $90.00 sunglass wall. Although they are in a convenient location and have some pretty frames, I do not think I'll be taking my business here to SEE. read more

I love wearing fun glasses and switching up my style on a regular basis, so I was relieved to find a hip and trendy glasses store in Nashville. I was immediately drawn to the ridiculous large framed and glittery cat eye glasses. Although not very professional they are quite fun and quirky! The price point is actually quite high for someone like me who likes to buy glasses all the time, so I much prefer my goofy glasses to come from cheap stores online like Zenni Optical where I can get a complete pair (Rx included) for less than $20. As far as originality is concered, I really like SEE to find cute and different glasses but I just didn't feel that it was worth my money to invest. They have a digital machine that takes pictures of your eyes that you an choose if you don't want dilation which is awesome! When my husband saw a groupon offer where $50 got you $200 of store credit on any See brand specs, my premonition of birthday glasses came true! After loving my last pair of glasses so much, I knew I need to procure another pair of funky spectacles... I mean, a girl needs a pair of wire-frames and plastic-frames, am I right? Even though I picked up my wire-frame specs not even a month ago, there was a bunch of new stock in the store, which is great for those of us who are finding glasses to be the much needed new fashion accessory that makes a statement. I wasn't sure I'd find a pair that I loved as much as my last, but of course I had nothing to fear and swiftly found a fantastic pair of purple framed beauties that perfectly fit my face. Although the groupon-inspired shopping spree had the purveyors estimating my new frames with lenses could take up to two weeks to arrive, I got them in just over a week. I luckily wandered into See later that day, and had to immediately cancel my prior order elsewhere so I could get some CUTE glasses. This place is awesome. I never thought of going to SEE because I primarily wear contacts, and I assumed that they only sold glasses -- and also that it was a trendy, expensive (pretentious) boutique. But a friend recommended them (and they *do* offer eye exams and contacts), so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! The optician was *super* friendly, my appointment started on time, and the customer service on the sales floor was outstanding and not pushy at all. The guy at the desk even sat down with a calculator to help me figure out if I'd get a better deal using my vision insurance credit on contacts vs. new glasses (it ended up being contacts), and kept a record of the glasses I liked so I could come back later for glasses if I wanted. A month or so later, I went back in because my eye had become kind of red and I was worried I had pink eye. They saw me right away and it turned out it was just a little irritation from a stray eyelash -- the appointment lasted all of three minutes, so they didn't even charge me for the visit and they sent me home with some eye drops to reduce the irritation. Their selection of glasses is really impressive, the eye exams are thorough but quick, and the folks who work there are just really good people. I suppose they might be a little more expensive than your average McDoctor at WalMart, but this place is further proof that you get what you pay for. I have a new go-to place for frames! Hooray! After spending over $300 with insurance on some less-than-exciting frames, I was thrilled to see the groupon worth $200 toward frames for only $50. I'm a sucker for a deal and for funky frames. Allison was great at suggesting frames for my face shape. After trying on a bunch of 'em, I settled on 10 to choose between. I just picked up my second pair of See Eyewear and love them as much as my first pair. The personnel are exceptional. I had an eye exam this time also and the doctor knew what she was doing and explained things as she went along with the exam. I had problems with my last exam elsewhere and she explained what was wrong and made it right this time. I highly recommend this location and staff to anyone that is doubtful. Your Groupon is good for all types of vision problems. Yes, you may pay more than the value of the coupon that is offered by Groupon but is adjusted into maybe progressives as I have. I love SEE. When we lived in Chicago, we went to SEE on Armitage. When we moved south, we started coming to this location even though we had to drive to another state. What is nice about SEE is the range of frame designs, and that they produce just a limited number of each design, so the styles are always fresh. They also have pretty good coupons and deals considering glasses are usually a boatload of money. Sign up for their emails! This location has really nice staff, always very helpful. They will work with your budget. I have a straight-forward prescription, so my glasses and lenses aren't bad. My spouse has a complicated prescription, so the frame selection available for the type of lenses needed is more limited, but we always find more options than we can afford! The spouse is always getting compliments on the glasses. They also offer a wide selection of coatings, and any glasses can be sunglasses, which I suppose is standard practice, but I find it magical. read more

My boyfriend and I had a great experience at See! They had so many fun frames, helpful staff, and a great location. The staff helped my boyfriend pick out the perfect glasses and didn't rush him at all. When they saw me looking at frames for fun, she even put together an assortment of glasses for me to look at! Overall they had great staff, great customer service, and a quality product. One thing to keep in mind is that the frames are pricy, but they do have some deals. Great place to go if you DON'T NEED GLASSES! I have been wearing glasses for over twenty-five years. First pair I have ever taken back. Terrible, actually painful fit. After 3 times going back, fighting the traffic and the nonexistent parking, finally said enough and said I had to have a pair that I COULD WEAR without pain. Got new ones. After another wait, the new ones were off center. Went back twice. They told me they were fine. A bit dismissively, but okay. Today my friend said "those are crooked." I said I thought so. So back again. Just dropped by my house to Take the original ones to see if maybe the backs could be replaced so I can use them in an emergency situation since I cannot drive without my glasses. The girl said no they had no parts for th original pair and could do nothing, but that she had to take them back and I would have to buy them again. I said you didn't even know I had them. I brought them back to see if the backs could be replaced. I would pay for the ear piece replacements but not the whole glasses. No, I couldn't walk out with the original glasses . I have rarely been so angry. And told me she couldn't let me have them. I explained. She said she was sorry but she had to take them. I am still shaking. So if you are looking for bad fit and poor service, you have come to paradise. Also bad traffic and no place to park. This place is purely about fashion looks for people who don't need good glasses that actually fit and may occasionally need repair. Go to a real optical dispensary. DONT GO HERE!!!! read more

I wanted to be able to say only good things about this business because they do have a great selection of frames and the staff in the store were very friendly. However, after placing my order and specifically asking for a certain coating on my lens and double checking this on the order, the finished pair came in with a different coating. They did apologize and asked if they could correct this, but by that time I'd lost faith in their process. An online survey was sent to me by SEE Eyewear which I completed and at the end it asked if I wanted someone to contact me. I entered, "yes." To date (6 months later), no one has contacted me about the mix up. I would not recommend this company. read more

of all the years I've been wearing glasses, my visit with the friendly people at See was possibly the most seamless and pleasant experience I've had purchasing eyewear. 1st call- I called to get info about insurance coverage, they take my insurance, score. setup an appointment to get my eyes checked, they had Saturday availability, score. 1st visit- got my eyes checked, I was in and out within 45 minutes, and they didn't do the poof test, score. 2nd call- I called at 515 on a Thursday afternoon, they close at 6 by the way. the friendly person on the phone said that I should be able to make it in time before they close. 2nd visit- he remembered that I called, I picked out my glasses, in and out within 15 minutes. 3rd call- Tiffany called to let me know that my glasses were ready a few days early. 3rd visit- picked up my glasses, perfectly adjusted, in and out within 5 minutes. that's what I call a perfect shopping experience. See is a trendy/ upscale eye glass place in Hillsboro Village. I say trendy because in the store they play music that I can only categorize as "acid jazz" or electronic (but not the annoying type of electronic music). I call the place upscale because they have frames there that cost around three hundred dollars. Though I have never bought any glasses from See, I do go in there frequently to buy contacts. It is definitely one of the most hassle free places to buy contacts because they always have my prescription in stock and the people who work there are super helpful and friendly. Plus, they have comfortable chairs to sit in while I wait, and I guess I like the hip atmosphere. Definitely check this place out if you are in the market for some cool frames because they have a great combination of selection and service. read more

See is a little different from any other eyeglass store I've been in before. There aren't any 'name brand' frames, so don't go in if you're looking for some D+G frames. It's kind of like a boutique for eyeglasses. They do have a nice selection of modern, stylish glasses to choose from. It's a small storefront, so obviously there's a big focus on customer service. The staff was very friendly and offered help picking out frames. I went in with a friend and didn't find anything that would fit my big block head, but my friend was very happy to pick up a pair of (expensive) sunglasses that she absolutely loved. A silicone nose pad on my glasses broke yesterday, leaving a piece of uncomfortable metal pressing into the bridge of my nose. I googled eyewear stores in the area and first went to Music City Opticals, who said they could replace it -- for $15.00. Seriously??? I'd be happy to pay a max of $5 (could buy 5 pairs for $6.50 at Walmart, but I only needed 1 pad) and every eyewear business I've ever visited did it for free. I next visited SEE in Hillsboro Village where the woman who waited on me couldn't have been nicer! She replaced the nose pad (yes, for free!) and we had a chat about the store ordering some smaller frames (coming soon), which I've had trouble finding since oversized glasses became very popular.
