Good quesadillas and frozen drinks. The hosts were great and friendly. Prices aren't bad and the lunch menu is nice.

My goodness! What a let down! I was so hungry for some yummy cheesy enchiladas with beans and rice and instead I got a Styrofoam container full of salt. The entire meal tasted so bland and salty. Everything had the same exact flavor. The enchiladas tasted just like the rice which tasted just like The beans and all of it tasted like a pillar of salt. Yuck! And I was not impressed with the staff either.Usually anytime I've gone into a Mexican restaurant its very happy and welcoming, Not here, it was as if I was bothering them by patronizing the restaurant. If I had the energy I would take the carton with the food ,bring it back up there,& get my money back... should have went to Taco Cabana :(AND ...no I didn't finish it, after throwing it up and other things, I threw it away! And I do not think a person getting sick is funny! It's dangerous! read more

Great place to go with parents and older friends! When I visit my parents, we often end up here on a Friday or Saturday night. There are plenty of older folks here and this is definitely not a hip place to be on a Friday or Saturday night lol. There are some younger adults - late 20s/30s, but never groups of highschoolers or college kids here. I like that there is somewhat of a dress code too: no tank tops or rubber sandals. Can't stand going out and seeing tacky people, especially on a night out with the parents. Seriously, why do some men wear wife-beaters when they go out? Tacky. The food is good, not great, and the prices are just fine: high enough to keep the kids out, low enough to be affordable. Like $11-15 for a combination dinner plate at a sit-down restaurant is nothing out of the ordinary and I don't know what people are complaining about. I can never finish the food so there's more than enough. Plus you get unlimited chips and salsa, both red and green, which I love. Pricing is just fine. The atmosphere is nice too. The restaurant itself is somewhat isolated and quiet as it's in the back corner of a strip center facing a neighborhood. Once inside, there's table and booths. And on some nights, there's live music. Just don't sit near the live music and you should be able to converse well without shouting at each other. Again, the people that go here aren't dressy but aren't tacky either. It's just right for a $11-15 per plate restaurant. If you want to wear pajama pants and pay under $10, don't go here! If you want to go on a nice date and dress up, don't go here. If you just want a nice outing with friends and family, come here! The service is usually very good. Can't complain. They bring chips, refill drinks, ask if everything's okay... the usual that should be expected of a restaurant. Would definitely recommend this place and have been here often. It's not the best tasting and not the fanciest but for what it is... a nice restaurant for friends and family with good tasting food... it is certainly deserving of 5 Stars! read more

The food is wonderful fresh & authentic . The service is spot on the staff is polite friendly and they go out of there way to make sure your not wanting for anything. A real nice place to go with your family. Ed Casey read more

Wow, my nephew and his wife held their reception here (there's a large back room for parties) and I was really blown away by the service and the STRONG drinks. Really, could not have more than one margarita, they were potent, but tasted soooo good. :D Enjoyable atmosphere, excellent waitstaff and an all around great place. read more

My boyfriend and I dined here today for lunch. Our experience was underwhelming to say the least. Salsa was boring, food was bland and service was painfully slow. Yes, it was on a Sunday, but not everyone wants to spend 2 hours in a restaurant just because. From the time we walked in to the time we received our entrees over an hour had passed. They weren't that busy and were not short staffed as most of the staff just stood around chatting. In a city like Houston (where there is a Tex-Mex restaurant on every corner) one would think the competition is stiff. If Don Ramon can't provide good service they could at least provide accurately priced fare. Their food is way overpriced. read more

Best place ever for breakfast!! This modern day style restaurant, provides what I can only describe as authentic Mexican food. The food and the atmosphere provide a feel of being at home instead of being at a restaurant!! I'd definitely come back and, I'd recommend this place to anyone. I haven't had the lunch nor the dinner....but I just don't seem to think it will disappoint!! read more

Love the food..the service is great..always with Live music..just a great local neighborhood place!! Happy Hour specials are a lot of fun!!

I love this place! The waitstaff and bartenders are so friendly and provide top notch service. We love the caldo de res and cochinta pibil. Drinks are on point. A must try! read more

Wow, a really solid Tex Mex restaurant. Everything really solid. Great salsas, fresh chips, nice rice, passable refried beans. Really good crispy taco. Chile con queso is not on a real puff shell, instead on a formed crispy dome, common. Great service on our visit. The frozen margarita was excellent! A lot of attention to details in every facet of the meal. Great value allowing for the selections for a combo. Nice music entertainment, with the rockets playing on monitors very visible throughout the restaurant. Very pleasantly surprised by a glowing recommendation from my girlfriend. read more

Went to this place for the first time on Monday. The environment was clean and neat. We arrived at about 4:30 (early dinner may have been part of the problem). We received our Margs and chips a few minutes after we sat down. The chips were cold and stale, the red salsa was slightly warm and just ok. The green salsa was bland, yuck. After taking a couple of drinks from our margs, we looked at each other and grimaced. There was a strong bitter taste of dish washing soap in the drinks. We sent them back. Dinner came and my guest loved her quesadillas (sp). I ordered a combo plate with tamale, fajita taco, guac, rice, beans. The rice was about the best thing on the plate and even that was not very good. The tamale had almost no meat and was covered by a horrible cheese sauce. It would be a complement to say it tasted like it came from a can. The fajita taco had quarter inch chuncks of fajita beef in a small tortilla. Nothing else, completely dry. No onions, peppers, nothing. All there was to dress the taco was the pico which was OK. The beef was completely dried out and bland. I was very hungry or I wouldn't have taken the time to choke it down. To top it all off, you can get all of this for a mere $12-$13 (I forget which). A complete and utter rip-off. I went to this place on the recommendation on my son. Our tastes run alike when it comes to Mexican. We eat at mexican rests. about 2-3 times a week. He had nothing but good things to say about it and was totally surprised at my experience. The only explanation that might fly is that we were there very early for dinner and they weren't prepared. It was almost like they were serving food left over from lunch or the previous day. I felt sick the rest of the evening. I don't know that my son will ever be able to convince me to go back, but if I do, it will certainly be later in the evening between 7-9. I can say with some confidence that this was one of the worst mexican meals I have ever had at any price! read more

Good food, hospitable employees, sometimes they have good music (it can be too loud sometimes), good place to eat with friends and/or family, it can be busy sometimes so you need to wait for a bit, the parking lot can be tricky when the restaurant is busy read more

The bomb I work close by so I come a lot and since the RONA has hit I haven't been so I drove 45 minutes just for this delicious food!

I took too long to come here! A friend of mine comes here for happy hour sometimes and says I'm missing out.. I always hear good about this place. Nice and tucked in the corner of a shopping strip, I dropped by to get the Don Ramon Salad to go and there's live music..cool.. nice bass player..really laid back atmosphere I must say. I'll come back and dine in pretty soon when I have a taste for Mexican food. My salad was amazing read more

This place just received a citation for being so filthy and also not having adequate running water in the restrooms. The Harris County Environmental report can be seen by downloading the app. Eat here at your own risk! read more

This place sucks!! And I'm not talking about the food because I never got the chance to taste any food there. I walked in and asked to be seated outside. I was then seated outside. But I sat there for about 20 mins and no one brought me water chips or nothing. Two of the workers walked passed as they went to other tables. One of the workers was dealing with Carry outs. Both of them walked passed me as if I were invisible. So after wasting 20 mins of my time, I just got up and walked out. Maybe they do need my money I thought to myself. So if you are looking for poor service, mistreatment and to be devalued. This is the place to go. I will never go back to this place and encourage everyone to stay away. I was looking forward to this place opening; unfortunately, it was not worth recommending to anyone. When we got there, four hostesses greeted us and said there would be a 30-35 minute wait. Hoping the food would be worth it, that was okay. 45 minutes later, we asked one of the hostesses how long till a table would be ready (we had seen many families leave), and she gave us attitude, and said she had no idea. We could either sit outside (which she discouraged) or wait until they might have a table eventually... So, we sat outside, which, again, we were fine with except for her attitude. Then we waited for 15 minutes to get our order taken. It didn't take too long to get our food. But the food was sub par. I was thinking based on the high prices, it would taste pretty good. It didn't. The fish tacos were mushy and flavorless. The fajita salad didn't come with dressing. The fajitas were okay but priced too high for the amount given. I just wouldn't recommend since the food was fair (not 'good'), seating took so long and the hostess was incredibly rude. Nothing special about it. read more

The food was your regular Mexican Food. Nothing wow about it. It seemed to be all from a can. The place was nice new. But everything is pretty when it's new. They have to change the cook or it will close soon. I had the chili relleno and it was salty. The beans came from a can. And the rice was not all that. The tea was great. Chips and salsa was good too. Sorry but never again. And it's kinda high for what you get. read more

The beef fajita chimichanga was fantastic. I love their beans and rice. I had the enchilada plate (beef & cheese). It was also very good. Great service. The house margarita was a lil too bitter for my taste but still good. I will definitely be back!! read more

Probably never going back. Bad service and found hair in the ceviche. Still got charged for it although it was sent back.

The food was OK; however, the prices were about double what other restaurants charge. I'm not sure we'll visit again: the value for the price paid just doesn't add up. read more

Service is okay. Husband and I live down the street and have been here three times. We've been disappointed the last two times by the food, but we tried the street tacos recently and liked the brisket ones a lot. Margaritas are STRONG. I'm talking everclear strong. The bartender didn't mention it, and after three "large" (pint glass sized) frozens and nothing else, I was sick drunk... And I have a pretty high alcohol tolerance thanks to ten years of tending bar. Two probably would have been more than plenty; now I know. read more

I've been here several times... One time I had terrible service and had to go to the bar to get water. Another time I had food poisoning. Will not be returning. read more

Great place, good quick service, great food. Went here at noon exactly and had food within minutes of ordering. Will comeback

"Fine Mexican Restaurant" like the sign says...NOT!! We waited and waited and finally got some service and ordered some water and it tasted really bad. They finally got us some chips when the waiter noticed they did not bring us any. They don't seem to be very attentive. We asked for a large queso and never got it. We asked for NO lettuce with the side plate, but did get lettuce anyway. They charged us $4 for a kids apple juice, $3 for kid soda and $22 for fajitas for 1. When our chips ran out they never refilled or asked. We had to ask for more salsa. Summary The food is Ok, but definitely not worth what they charge. The service is seriously lacking. This is definitely not a "Fine Mexican Restaurant" read more

The service was good The food was mediocre at best and the prices were about double what a really good Mexican restaurant would charge. Please note: You cannot put the word "Fine" in front of the kind of food that you serve....do absolutely nothing to make the food better...and charge more money. We will NEVER be back. From the emptiness of the dinning room, I would be surprised if this place is still in business a year from now. read more

Great authentic food and live music. We've been there many times and the food and service are excellent.

We always ask for Isaac when we come, best waiter! Food never disappoints and live music on some nights are fantastic. I always get the street tacos (1/2&1/2 meat) or the flautas. My fiancé has tried almost everything and loves it all. The owner is also very friendly and will stop by to chat. Knows us and our family by face cause we come a lot lol read more

First off, when I think of a Mexican restaurant I think of chips and salsa. I was served biscuits and ranchera sauce. I don't believe that the house salsa should be what you use on all your dishes. You should have separate salsas for the chips and keep the ranchera sauce for the meals. Secondly, it's over priced for mediocre Mexican food. $42.95 for fajitas for two is ridiculous. This is not filet mignon or Taste of Texas. I do not mind paying for food especially if it's good quality but This place needs to be more creative on appetizers and realistic on prices. The waiter was very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant had a nice ambience, food not so much. Maybe they need to put as much thought into their food as they did into the atmosphere of the restaurant. Will not be coming back and I do not recommend it. read more

To put it simply and accurately, Don Ramon's has some of the best Tex-Mex food in a city overrun with Tex-Mex. The food is fresh and prepared with skill and thought. The service is smooth and attentive without being overly solicitous. We definitely will return. read more

Amazing best Mexican food I have had in a while. There breakfast tacos are super good!

My son and I were in town for a baseball tournament and decided to try Don Ramon's. He had the Beef Fajita Enchiladas and LOVED them... They disappeared so fast! He really liked the enchilada gravy sauce. I had the Sopa Azteca... tons of vegetables and fajita chicken. Their rice is really good. The restaurant has that family owned neighborhood feel! They had Live music the night we were there and it made for a great evening! read more

Walked in, looked at the menu and saw how expensive it was and left. Plus, it was almost empty during lunch time. Always a bad sign.

I just finished a meal here. I was not very impressed with the service or the fijatas for one. The chips and dip were pretty good however, so i will give them another try. The waiters were not very attentive. read more

Pros: great service, delicious food and salsa! Cons: over priced and awful house margaritas Very expensive place to have dinner but they do have live entertainment which is nice. I guess the cost of entertainment is tacked on the dinner prices. I'll return when I win the lottery! read more

I love this place .. I was there on the opening weekend because of the Manager Martin, he is the reason I came there. Martin came by and greeted us personally. I used to eat at Mamacitas on 45 where he was a manager and I had to follow him there. I took the wife and kiddos and we loved the food. I had the Conchinita Pibil wich is a very tender flavorful pork dish. The pork was juicy tender and had an awesome flavor. My wife had her fave Tex-Mex item, the quesadillas and my kiddos had the nachos. My wifey-poo had the raspberry rita which she loves. I had the Platinum Rita which I enjoyed. One thing I was happy to see was they had Don Julio 1942 that went well as an after dinner drink which went well with my dessert , the tres leches that I had ordered smothered w/ chocolate sauce. the service was attentive and professional. I will always be back as long as Martin & company are there read more

Papacito's is down the road; and you pay the same but at Pappas you get better quality and portions. We came in 30 mins till close and the waiter was extremely rude! This place is awesome! Great food, atmosphere, and wonderful service! What more can ya ask for? We will be back for sure.
