We are new in town and have been trying to find all the good food spots. Our search as of right now is Menudo. We have tried Jalisco, good but too sweet. So then we were sent to Panaderia Sanchez, we were too late and they were out. We walk out with a Dr pans. So Yelp brought us here to Don Maria's. The hominy and tripe need to be boiled a little longer. We got chewy chewy bits. It was also lacking the flavor of oregano. I don't think any of these places put Pata in their Menudo, it gives a better flavor to the Caldo. Neither of these places offer toasted chili on the side. We did order a kids burger from there for my LO they didn't tell us its only half a burger. The fries were good and crispy. These little changes can improve diners experiences by far! read more

Stopped here on our way back home. It was delicious. Service was great. Prices were very reasonable. I loved my cheese enchilada with green sauce. Just the right amount of spicy. Customer service is horrible. I walked in and some waitress barked at me "sit wherever". Not even a hello or a nice greeting. I don't expect much from waitresses but being nice is such common sense when you rely on tips for a living. Then our waitress didn't eve take our drink orders. If I could give this location no stars, I would. I got the southwest grilled chicken sandwich and I couldn't even bite into the fake rubberized chicken. The "home made chips" were also garbage. It's basically a corn tortilla broken in 3 parts and fried. No salt, no seasoning, nothing enjoyable. The steak in the quesadilla tasted like prepackaged "fajita" that came out of a Grocery store. Great place to go for brunch on Saturday. It closes early around 2pm ish. Not a lot of parking available, and when you go in you seat yourself. Servers are extremely nice and extremely friendly, and service can run a little slow. Nice selection of New Mexican and American food on the menu. Anything can be smothered in green sauce or red sauce, and if you are not a fan of either, double check because it might come on it. I absolutely loved the Mexican omlette smothered in the green chile carne (little bits of tender pork that falls apart when you touch it with your fork) sauce. I love my food spicy, and to me this was on the mild side. It came with a side of retried beans and papitas (cubed fried potatoes) and I loved every single bite of it! This will definitely be my Saturday brunch spot in Clovis. The only thing I wish this place had to accompany the friendly servers and great New Mexican flavor is bottomless mimosas lol read more

There is not much else worth a darn in the one-horse town of Clovis but this place was nice. We had an early breakfast one day and came back for dinner the same day...like I said there isn't much else around. The only drawback was no adult beverages for dinner. Generally speaking it's a quaint little locally owned restaurant with a homegrown appeal. The food was good and authentic New Mexico/Chihuahua style food. Everything is made fresh by the order so the taste is great. I had the smothered bean burrito with some decent rice. I created a yelp account *just* so I could write this review. Hope the owners/management can use this info to improve the place. Place was busy and the waitresses seemed to adapt well. Highlights: Salsa kicked a$$!! Onion rings made perfectly! Anette the waitress gives wonderful service! Very reasonable prices! ~The Problems~ Atmosphere: Lighting is unnecessarily blinding, and very loud clanging/banging buss'd dishes. Could really use some sorta lobby/waiting area for the many people waiting for open tables, not to mention a podium for *someone* to arrange seating cuz it seemed very much like guests had to fend for themselves (witnessed 2 people take up a giant corner booth meant for at least 5 people). Kitchen: Maybe it was new cooks or staff, but there were several things awry at my table. Green chile patty melt missing the bacon we ordered. Grandma's pancake not hot. My steak finger basket didn't come out with fries instead of onion rings. First cups of water tasted fine according to my brother and dad, but the pitcher brought to our table had a "gross tap-water taste." Personal experience elaborated: Arrived approximately at 11:45 today in a party of 4 (one person being a very grumpy/hard to please grandma). Had to claw my way to find a table near the register. while an old couple right behind us took over an unbussed round booth. Took several minutes before Anette was able to drop by menus. My steak finger/chicken strip basket arrived with fries instead of onion rings and I had to wait almost until the end of my meal before they arrived. Had to pepper the heck out of my gravy. I could see 2 old men standing against a wall (in a very high traffic area for waitresses) for about 10 minutes. Turns out they were waiting about for our table to free up. Havn't been in the SW in 8 years. Oh how I have miss Green Chilis! Saw reviews here on Yelp and held high hopes as we were looking for breakfast this morning. The decor is fresh and rich colors. The tables are tiled topped. Tables rock and chairs rock, but thats what you get on old tile floors. Ordered Tims Skillet w Green Chili sauce. It was delicious! Waitstaff has improved! Ive actually found their green chili stew meat so good I have to smother it on everything (during breakfast )or just order a bowl. My whole fam enjoys it. Have tried their lunch and burgers are pretty good..considering i dont normally ear burgers but to my hubbys recommendation i did. Disappointed with the food salsa was all tomatoes no flavor, chips tasted really greasy like the oil hasn't been changed in a while. Had the menudo large portion but not flavorful as it should be. Our first visit and we are so glad we found it! We are passing through and have to say it is well worth the few miles we went out of our way to get here. Been coming here two to three times a week for breakfast for months now until today. I ordered a green chile pork burrito and just a few bites in I bit into a NICE LONG BLACK HAIR. I spit it out and look at the burrito and there is a long hair melted into the cheese. I began to pull it out and stopped after about five inches and realize this is just DISGUSTING. I call over the waitress and she blows it off like nothing and says she'll bring me another one. I lost my appetite. Not only that, they had the nerve to Bill us for the meal without a sorry or an apology. I'm pretty sure they don't wear hairnets in their kitchen. I paid the bill and said thanks for the hair it was DELICIOUS. My family and I will not be back. We will take our business elsewhere. It's a shame because they have pretty decent food.
