Food is absolutely spot on, from the chips & salsa to the chori pollo, it was so tender and delicious and acp was so filling (add peppers & onions you won't regret it). Our server Victor was absolutely amazing, very attentive and friendly. The whole restaurant is amazing and decorated beautifully. I'm new to the area and was looking for a Mexican restaurant (thank goodness for Yelp)! We chose Don Julio based on the margaritas. We were greeted and sat immediately. It wasn't busy at all. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and quick. To my surprise, Don Julio has tamales (something I had a hard time finding in CT) AND margarita flights. Because I'm a sucker for flights, I had to get one. You don't get to choose the flavors but that's okay, they were all amazing! I ordered the three choice plate with a tamale, Chile relleno, and an beef enchilada. Everything tasted great but I was more so blown by the margaritas! Went here for lunch. Prices are great and food is plentiful. We sat at the bar. The chairs are very comfy and large, which is an odd thing to notice and mention in a review, but worth being noted I think! The service was just ok. There wasn't a bartender behind the bar the whole time so if we needed something we would have to wait or to get silverware, I just went and got it from the host stand myself. The bar menu doesn't list the drink prices. I know that's not uncommon but I didn't love that. I got a classic margarita and it was $10. I think I assumed it would be smaller and less expensive. But, for $10 I did get a huge (and good) margarita. Would definitely come back or order to go for lunch for sure. read more

I've only been for lunch, having the lunch fajitas, chicken soup, and of course, the chips and salsa. Everything has been delicious. They are fairly fast so you don't wait long. The dining are is pretty large but the configuration makes it seem private. It's located in a strip mall with a grocery store and a few other shops. Parking is easy as the lot is huge. Food is what you expect when you go to a Mexican restaurant. They made what I asked for. No complaints. Atmosphere what you expect. Clean, bright, comfortable. Service was good. Guillermo19 provided good service. What I don't like is they charge you 4% for using card. Ccd companies aren't charging 4% fees to them. Future tips will reflect the poor policies of this company. Charging a ccd fee is like adding a line item for utilities or employee healthcare. I do t want to see a line item. Keep your cost of business wrapped up in your prices. We moved to Wake Forest from Texas in 2016 Don Julio's was the first Mexican restaurant we went to. I was not very fond of it. The food was ok, service was not great and the Margaritas were also just ok. They looked great but did not taste great. We recently decided to try them again in May of 2022. Let me just say, I am extremely picky because I am a good cook and not many restaurants WOW me. Something changed here, the service is excellent, food is delicious and portions are very generous. I tried the jalapeño Margarita and it was tasty. My husband and I enjoy sitting at the bar to have a drink with our meal. By the way, the servers are very attentive and work as a team. This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. My husband and I usually get ACP (arroz con pollo) with broccoli. It's very good! I like that they're always coming to fill up our drinks and chips. Their sausa is ok but I usually ask for the 'white sause' (it's free) which is my favorite and my husband likes queso (it's extra $). If you go there for lunch time they have some lunch specials with good prices. I've been there so many times that I've lost count. I've tried some different foods but I usually order ACP with broccoli. During my last visit I got a chicken quesadila with rice and it was pretty good. I've also tried their fajitas and I think the meat pieces are too small and a bit dry. But anyway I love their ACP and that's why I like going there.
