Went for father's day yesterday, not sure if that impacted usual service. Was able to easily make a reservation online - called to confirm once they opened. For appetizer we had the calamari and baked clam duo. The peppers in the calamari were delicious. The clams were good but some of them were gritty. For dinner we had the Bufala mozzarella pizza and filet minon - both were delicious. The peppercorn sauce made the filet memorable for sure. Overall from when we sat down at 6 we didnt get the apps until 7 which felt like a really long time. The bread basket had really small pieces of bread and the breadsticks were still in their plastic packaging which made it seem cheap. I was so looking forward to the opening of this restaurant. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. It really surprises me that a very experienced owner would have the most inexperienced staff. The service was subpar. I ordered a glass of Moscato, I didn't care for it at all. I had asked the waitress if I received the wrong wine. The manager came over and gave me a 10 minute explanation on where the wine came from. He didn't offer me something else or take it off my bill. I took two sips and left it. Ordered fried calamari which stunk, had no taste or seasoning. I will say our three entrees were absolutely delicious. Pasta was tasty and cooked perfectly! I won't be going back. I could go to Pastavino, get equally delicious pasta, but have the most delicious Moscato and excellent service. read more

What a great time with my family for my wife's birthday, super accommodating, the portions were large, the food was very flavorful. Nice atmosphere, the bar drinks were strong and tasty. We did have an issue with the valet parking, we parked legally and he came up to my wife and said we were parked illegally, when clearly we were in front of the sign. But I understand he's trying to make a buck. The table in the restaurant was bad, to be fair I didn't ask for another table but it was a short conversation of annoyance. We celebrated my wife's birthday and our daughter and son in-law genders reveal of our first grandchild. I look forward to coming back. Went Saturday night first time they have valet parking which was convenient stepped inside. My beautiful bar had a couple of drinks till our table was ready only a 10 minute wait waiter and Tia was magnificent. That was the menu inside out including ingredients. Unfortunately, the entrees tasted mostly of kosher salt. Tuna was coated with it, osso bucco too salty, as well. You don't need that if your main ingredient is of high quality, which I believe it was, underneath all the salt. Please Train your head waiter , no skills whatsoever when a patron tells you a drink is bad don't question the customer and laugh . I was a professional waiter years ago and I understand is good help is hard to find but really have the skills to do the job . He brought the wrong food to our table and then pick up the dishes and brought them to the right table. In this day of COVID if he gave my food to another table I'd send it back and walk out . Not accommodating at all. In middle of taking our order he stoped and kissed another patron goodbye without saying excuse me . Very rude . I was invited to Don Cheech to celebrate my dear friend's birthday. It was my first time going to a restaurant on Staten Island. On first impression of the exterior I honestly thought " what kind of hole in the wall place is this!" Boy was I amazed. Old world Italian decor and cuisine. Intimate yet spacious. The food. We just had an amazing meal tonight at Don Cheech. All I can say is, WOW. We waited a few minutes for a table, but once seated Yolennys took care of the rest. We started with some delicious cocktails, Negronis and Margaritas. Then we dug into some fabulous appetizers. The baked clam duo, calamari and polpette sicurelli's (meatballs). For dinner we had chicken parm, chicken francese, linguine pescatore, filet mignon and the out of this world Veal Chop Valdostana. The wine that Massimo recommended with dinner (Rose Montelpulciano) was a perfect match. The portions were huge and delicious. Who had room for dessert?? We did, after watching the professional staff make Napoleons all night with fresh piped cream. Why stop there?? We also had an Affofato and Gelato on par with desserts we've had in Italy. All I can say is if you live in Staten Island and you're lucky enough to have quality food and service like this, you should support them. I know we will be back soon. So the food alone deserves a higher rating, but the ambiance was awful. In an almost empty restaurant, we were seated in the far corner of the rear dining room. One table finished and left, and the only other occupied table was extremely loud. It was an unacceptable amount of noise. We were allowed to move to the glassed in part ,on request, which helped. But then the music was way too loud, a worker came in to play with the lights, and I'm looking up into a big security camera as I'm eating my food. Beyond uncomfortable. Here's a suggestion.....if your front seating area is mostly empty, seat people there first. If those seats were being saved for "reservations", apparently nobody showed up! Small slices of cold bread without any butter offered is not interesting. And beware the "2-for-1" menu deal....you have to purchase two pricey appetizers to get that, and then order from a restricted menu. I don't like gimmicks, especially when those little details only crop up in fine print when you are already there and hungry. I did NOT see anything about that on the website. We stuck with two entrees and drinks. Compliments to the chef for making delicious food, but I'm in no hurry to go back because it was uncomfortable from the moment we walked in there. Delicious!!! If you haven't tried this place yet, do yourself a favor and go! The food was amazing from beginning to end! We tried the Calamari, truffle mozzarella and Carrozza (the best I've ever had), and stuffed Zucchini flowers (special of the night and OMG)! Wanted to take my wife out for our anniversary and was recommended by a friend. Once inside we were greeted by a lovely hostess and asked us if it was our first time there. Once seated our waiter Roberto took the time to show us their outside seating which looked awesome. Heated floors and canopy with about 20 tables. During dinner the choice of music and lighting was perfect. As for The for the food, everything was delicious & fresh and the chef even came out greeted people at each table.
