I am a doctor with a practice based in Westborough. Six months ago we received a notice from one of our insurance companies about doing a full audit for HIPAA compliance. I googled and I found Domiteks name. I called and the owner of the company had come out and talked with me about what I needed to be compliant.
First, very pushy, always kept talking about services, backups, firewalls and so forth. Kept insisting on managed services, but I am not in the computer field, so I decided to look at the quote and wow, I was shocked. For a simple 7 person practice, the cost was more than multiple of my employee's a month. He insisted this is what we need to go to get in compliance.
Second, our computers couldn't connect to the internet on a Saturday. I thought as well as the invoices reflected 24 hour support, I left three messages but no call back. Eventually I called our internet company and found out we had an outage. Never understood why I didn't get a call back even on monday.
Third, we kept getting hit by viruses. Popups, messages and eventually a computer had to be reset in order for it to work. The antivirus apparently doesn't work.
I am not in the computer field, and over the last couple of months I grew suspicious, so I had requested another firm to come in and evaluate the work.
I received the report today. We're a medical practice, we are required to be HIPAA complaint. We were not. The firewall was a generic router, more expensive than off the shelf, but afforded us no protection. The antivirus was not configured beyond defaults. The report I am reading goes on and on.
We're seeking a new computer consultant after this and if this is the way business is run, we cannot ever recommend this company to anyone. read more
