No frills super solid easy go-to sushi! Love the TYS Roll Combo--it has everything i would normally pick, for a super reasonable price!! Adored this!!

Love this sushi restaurant! I used to order on grubhub all the time when I lived here. Finally went inside and ate when we decided to have a Philly day. We also ordered the spicy pork gyoza. Everything was so good! The service is fast. The place is clean and so is the bathroom. Highly recommended!

I'm so happy I got sushi from here! The rolls were decently sized and they don't s skimp on the ingredients!! They are also very decently priced as well. Most of the rolls that I ordered were around $6 each which I say is a steal! Sushi flavor was on point and I felt very satisfied with the quality. I would definitely order from here again. Next time I will have to dine in and see if the service matches up! Recommendations: Shrimp tempura Salmon avocado

Fantastic neighborhood Japanese BYOB. For the sushi and rice lovers (not noodles unless in soup), they have SO MUCH to pick from and all amazing. The dinner bento boxes are fantastic for takeout (you get a little bit of everything). In the restaurant, I cannot recommend enough the spicy pork bibimbap. Imagine a blazing hot stone bowl with rice, vegetables, pork, that continues to cook and get crispy while you eat it. AH-MAZING. Other recommendations- pork gyoza (fantastic), triple spicy double, tuna, roll, island, roll, Medusa roll. Great flavor, creative, and large in size. The staff is always wonderful and so friendly, and if you do want something to drink, there is a beer store next-door (it is overpriced, but it is convenient).

Came last minute on a Friday night and had about 15 minutes to order. They let me bring in a few beers, and have a cork fee for wine I believe. The sashimi sundae was delicious but didn't come with wasabi or much sauce, the tempura appetizer as crispy and light. The japchae was a nice surprise, super flavorful veggies and noodles. We were served pretty quickly with appetizers. There are booth and chair options, and the rolls are pretty large and filling. The quality of the sushi and fish was awesome and the price made me happy. BYOB sushi heaven!

Below average sushi spot. It was not very tasty and fish did not taste fresh. Rice was overcooked and slightly mushy. My initial pair of chopsticks were chipped so I asked for a new pair- the server gave me a pair of plastic chopsticks that were stained and there were what looked like bite marks on the end. I ended up just eating the sushi with my hands. The place was empty and quiet. No other customers were there. I would not be returning.

I had a pleasant dining experience at Doma with a friend. We received our food promptly. I had some of the best tasting sashimi and sushi here. Staff members were polite and responsive during our visit which made our visit even more pleasant. The atmosphere is very relaxed. It's a perfect little spot to bring a date or a few friends. It's very casual. I brought my own beer with me too.

My second time here for dinner without reservations and were seated quickly. Both times were good. Started off with the crab salad. This appetizer was not worth it since it was filled with just shredded crab sticks. Ordered the spider roll and the rock & roll. Both rolls were extremely filling and delicious. The rolls were quality rolls. Service was good.

Doma is a slightly hard to find Japanese/Korean restaurant within walking distance to the museums on Ben Franklin Parkway. Two families with young children walked here from Franklin Institute on a gorgeous Saturday in January. There was a couple of street parking spots near the restaurant, but it appears that most patrons walk to this restaurant from the surrounding neighborhoods. A tad before noon, and the restaurant was empty when we walked in. We occupied a long table that seated about 8 (we had 4 adults and 3 children in our party). The space is a little tight as the dining area is very narrow. The food was good and reasonably priced. It's mostly Japanese with a handful of Korean dishes. I had the duk bok ki appetizer, which was prepared a little differently than it would be made traditionally in Korea. Larger rice cakes that appeared to be finished off with a bit of toasting. The boys shared a tempura udon and california roll combo, which was priced right and I really liked the broth of the udon. My bento box was also reasonably priced, but the bulgogi was a little oversauced. I opted for the roll instead of the white rice, so I had nothing to offset the the flavor. Overall, a good experience, but the restaurant could use a little more space.

The food here is good with a variety from Japanese to Korean. Service is so very friendly. Restaurant is BYOB. However, the restaurant overall is not very clean and needs major updates. Starting from the clear chopsticks that are too worn out and is like toy chopsticks. Plates and bowls are a bit dusty and has some small particles on it. Restaurant has a lot of potential and I'm hoping there will be some improving over time.

PRO: I will say, if you want a place where you can sit and have a conversation, dark mood lighting (especially forgiving if the last time you saw each other alot was 20 years ago! - LOL), Sagami is an excellent choice. PRO: They don't rush you out - take your time. It was a Thursday night, so not especially busy when we came at 6:30 PM. CON: I could not find an updated menu online - I'm one of those people who like to peruse a menu in advance. I started with a vegetable tempura appetizer ($10) - excellent, light, airy, tasty. My main was the dragon roll - very tasty. Service was quite nice. Appetizers came out almost immediately, the rolls took a lot longer to get to our table. This is the kind of place where you're not paying to fill up your belly - but if you do, expect to shell out some bucks.

We were seated at the sushi bar, which ended up being one of the best parts of the night. We got to watch the sushi chefs prepare dishes up close and even chat with them a bit, which made the experience feel more personal and fun. The space is large enough that it doesn't feel crowded, but still intimate enough for a nice dinner. Our server was fantastic and gave great recommendations for cocktails, sake, and dishes. The sushi was fresh, and every dish we had was seasoned perfectly. They have seasonal tasting menus if you are more adventurous. The dishes are beautifully plated. Royal's announcement on they starting to take reservations, a few months ago, immediately had me in stalker mode. I set a calendar reminder, waited for the day, hopped on & bang- success!! Another Philly weekend awaited, Yea! We arrived at Royal (apologies on review delay, circa April 11), for our 8:30pm high top table reservation. We were greeted and seated immediately- right side corner table ready. It's very dim in Royal, small but mobile and a bit noisy. Nothing unexpected. Skating over service, but they are so noteworthy. Our server was attentive, kind and helpful. They HUSSLE here to bus and clear tables. Timing for patrons arriving and being sat was like it was scripted, it was so flawless. No one waiting at the entrance corridor on arrival. Machine precision. Now, our meal- I'm drooling in my daydreams over it. We tried many plates & loved the portion size to be able to do so. The chicken wings- crisp, thick golden fried and tender. The toro with caviar- silk. A touch of brine, a melt in your mouth pleasure. The grilled octopus had an unassuming spice, mellow char and just the right consistency of chew. My husband ordered a surprise- I was scared. Fish heads. WTF, ok here we go. The plate came- heads on heads, quite the portion. This fish- first bite down, intimidation gone. This is one of the best things we've ever eaten. Succulent, moist fall apart whitefish. Didn't even taste like it was battered, no thickness to the breading. It tasted fried but so clean it didn't make sense how good it was. I don't have words. And now we get to the sushi- and I go completely mute.... There is no description worthy here. We had the Dragon Roll and the Spicy Crab Tempura roll. Can we call them the "Die and gone to heaven rolls". Fall apart fresh. Quality. Restrained, but pronounced. Pure. Insane. How can you describe food you will always remember. Except in having passion and a simple happy heart. This is what Royal gave us- in a sushi roll and a fish head. Thanks Jesse and team- simply the best!

One thing though, the restaurant was surprisingly hard to find because there really isn't much signage on the entrance/door. But there's a paper lantern outside, so if you see that, you're in the right place. I had really high expectations coming here and thankfully I wasn't disappointed, although nothing completely blew me away except for the Aka Taka roll. The chirashi bowl was solid overall and had good quality cuts of fish for $52. Everything tasted fresh and balanced, but next time I think I'd personally just order the sakedon instead. The chasu bao also wasn't really worth the $14 in my opinion. It was still good, just not something memorable or mind blowing. Same with the wagyu steak, for $38, it honestly just tasted like a really good steak, and the portion was a little smaller than I expected. My favorite appetizer was definitely the miso eggplant. Such a unique combination of flavors and the eggplant was cooked incredibly soft and well. It almost tasted like a sweet potato with the miso on top, and I would absolutely order it again. But the standout of the night was easily the Aka Taka roll. For a $27 roll, I had very high expectations and somehow they were all met. The roll was stuffed with different cuts of tuna that were unbelievably soft and buttery, and there was this crunch in the middle, maybe daikon? Whatever it was, it added the perfect texture. Honestly, it's something I'd go back just for.
