Prices have gone up, way up and products are cheaper manufactured or smaller in size than before. Will go to dollartree instead now.

I rarely ever go out there unless it's to go to Ikea. Food options in this plaza are the Ikea cafeteria, the Starbucks inside of Chapters, Subway Sandwiches, and Bridgehead Coffee. If you're looking for something a bit more, across the street there is another small strip mall with Big Rig Kitchen and Brewery, and Supreme Kabob House. The plaza is good if you're looking for appliances or house furnishings.

I dislike this mall, mostly for accessing it, and parking. Oh, and the size of the Ikea there…read more.. Biggest in Canada? Why would that be impressive? It is huge, and I feel like I'm being herded like cattle, just to get through the store. My biggest beef about that is I'd rather go to the section I'm looking for, rather than have to schlep through every single other department just to get there! By then I'm exhausted! Mind you, I thought it was big enough before they expanded! On the other hand, the times I have shopped at Ikea and actually bought something, I have to admit that their prices are great. Having said that I really don't like going to this mall, we have been going here occasionally, and more frequently than before (yes, for Ikea!). Aside from Ikea, we've gone to the Starbucks with some regularity. That's a calming force after a trek through Ikea! And when we go to Ikea, we always take a gander in the bookstore next door. I like that Chapters / Indigo a lot, although it's not my favourite one to get to. Sears used to have an appliance store there, when they were still in business. Didn't go there often. I don't like Corbeil (overpriced IMHO) as we've had bad luck shopping for appliances there. I used to go to the Michael's in this mall, before they opened up in Kanata; so now I never go to this Michael's store anymore. In general, I go to this mall only when I have to, and only to get done what I absolutely have to, and usually can't wait to get out. Two stars because I do actually occasionally shop there. Based on parking and access alone, I would give this mall a 1-star. By access, I'm including taking the bus there: they let you off at the intersection of the highway and Pinecrest, and you have to walk too far to get to the mall, crossing the highway entrance. I feel like it's taking your life in your hands! And it's too long a trek to get into the mall by foot, taking the same route you would take if you were driving. I'm not sure how you would make it better; maybe a footbridge?

Yes, I'm reviewing a convenience store. Get ready for it to blow your mind…read more I've written about so many great shopping and dining experiences, but if I'm honest with myself, this is the the business that I probably frequent the most often. Why, you may ask? While it's proximity to my apartment is one reason, the real one is the customer service. While this chain convenience store has all the makings of all other convenience stores (bright neon signs, primary colours and lots of signs on the windows...not to mention Slush Puppy machines and candy) there's something about it that makes it feel like my grandfather's old general store - the service is exceptional, the selection is good and the prices are fair. Bonus? The place stocks delicious baked goods (think lemon squares, macaroon bars, berry crumble, nanaimo bars and brownies - yum!) made by a local caterer. The store is family owned and operated, and they always greet us warmly and ask us how we are. They remember details like our dog's name and where we work. They should probably be giving high-end restaurants and department stores customer service lessons. I often find myself running in here during an emergency of the first world kind (read: running out of eggs while in the middle of baking a cake, no laundry detergent when I desperately need to wash clothes) and they always have what I need. We've grabbed a (gasp!) frozen pizza here a time or two and it's our go-to spot when we need to satisfy a sweets craving. While 5 cent candy and old general stores may be a thing of the past, this family-run Hasty Market is a gem in my neighbourhood, and they're a business I will always be happy to praise. Why then, did I not award 5 stars? The gentleman owner threw me a bit when he asked if I was my boyfriend's "caretaker" (my bf has some trouble walking due to cerbral palsy). I understand people's curiosity...but really. A little off-putting. He's since been super kind and so I can't fault him too much for it.

The majority of clothing sold at this store is pretty much just wardrobe essentials; plain longsleeve tees, active zip ups, plain shirts, jackets, etc. This store is focused on the concept of "timeless basics" rather than chasing the current fashion trends. For some reason, I always thought this store was a lot cheaper than other stores but it turns out that unfortunately no, it is not. I bought a zip up for $50 and a plain longsleeve tee for $25. Not that it's expensive, just not a store that I would label as "cheap," but more "affordable." I love that this store is wide and spacious, and it didn't feel crowded even though the store was pretty busy. The coolest thing about this store, though? They have self-checkouts instead of a cashier, and not the normal self-checkouts you're used to, either. It's the kind where you place all your items into this bin, and then everything's instantly & automatically scanned. Then you pay and it prints out your receipt. Mind you, there was around 5 of these self-checkouts so there wasn't a line you had to wait in to pay for your items. Something to note: Uniqlo also has a Uniqlo app, where you have access to app-exclusive discounts and special items that aren't available in-store. I'd recommend downloading this app prior coming to the store, because the reception was weak when I tried to download it on-the spot. All in all, a great new clothing store to check out!

From marshmallow fireside, to leaves, you are bound to find a favorite candle. The Bath and Body Works at Bayshore is pretty large, and there is usually a lot of staff on site. One covering the entrance, one in the center of the store, and a couple at the checkout. They are usually pretty good with the customer service here, and are generally helpful if you are looking for a product. I find that this store runs out of some of my favorites pretty fast though. I had a difficult time this year finding candles at this location. They were always sold out of my fav's!! I enjoy how you can test the body washes, hand creams and soaps in store, as well as the perfumes and home fragrances. They usually have a deal with their candles. Buy 2 large candles for $30.00, and at the end of each season, their candles usually go on sale for $10.00. I know the products can be pricey, but the quality is fantastic, and their products are highly fragranced. For instance, if you purchase a candle that is called peppermint mocha, your home will smell like peppermint mocha!! Not only that, but this company is very generous with coupons. And hey, if you are not satisfied with a product, you are able to return it with no hassle...even if you have already used it! :)

This event was a lot of fun, and very well planned, with lots of people discovering this store for the first time. This store and the event gives the mall an extra star, IMHO. Kudos to them for their enthusiasm and multiculturalism. I really appreciated that! Wandering the halls of the mall, looking for the event, I passed quite a few closed stores, and a couple of offices which were already closed (it was past 5:30pm), but a few stores were still open. I passed the food court, where there are several tables and chairs in a fenced in area, where there were a few groups seated and chattering away, as well as one group of 3 men playing a game of backgammon; it's a long time since I saw anyone play that, or played it myself! As for the mall, it's unfortunate that the Walmart left this mall; this mall was quiet before, but at least then there was reason to go to the mall. At least there is still a Metro store there (if you live in the neighbourhood), and there are a couple of other interesting stores in this mall: the Ontario Service Centre where you can renew your driver's license and Health Card, and a Training Facility for hair dressers where they offer $10 haircuts to anyone willing to let a student cut their hair (the cut is supervised by a trainer, so should not be too bad). One place I do like in this mall is the Buster's Restaurant. I've been there a couple of times and enjoyed it.
