I was aware that many Amazon products that are returned get sold to liquidators, so I entered the store with expectations of pretty competitive pricing. What I found was a pretty broad collection of cheaper-quality products at, what seemed like retail or near-retail prices. In spite of signage assuring me otherwise, the discounts that I saw just quite didn't rationalize the purchase price for me. After all, some of these products may even be defective Amazon returns and the savings just weren't substantial enough to take that risk. While the products may indeed be acquired through a liquidation sale, or Amazon palette auction model, the price that consumers like me see doesn't quite reflect that. It feels like someone's making a handsome markup here.

But, and this "but" is serious. While we were there a woman entered not wearing a mask. No staff member asked this woman to wear a mask or why she was not. She proceeded to walk through the store again maskless;. At the cash area, she was behind me and I asked her "where is your mask" Her reply was "if you did any research you would know I do not have to wear a mask and neither should anyone else" I thought oh great a conspiracy follower and did not respond. But what bothered me was as I was leaving the store the cashier said to thid lady in my hearing "that was a good answer you gave to her". I have no problem with personal beliefs, having said that I am extremely high high risk. What bothered me most was this employee is purposely not maintaining the Health department and Ministry of health regulations to help stop the spread of this deadly virus therefore putting others at risk. I feel she should have approached this customer and at least asked where her mask was and with a nonmedical exemption answer reminded this customer of the rules every business is supposed to follow. I have been in medicine for over 40 years, have seen lots of noncompliant humans. I don't have time to change minds if they are ignorant to this pandemic. But I do not wish to frequent an establishment that does not comply to recommended health department advice that we are all supposed to follow. I think this establishment needs to instruct their staff to keep their opinions to themselves and help us as a community ensure the safety of their clients. It was my first time visiting a liquidator like Top Binz where it starts at $20 on Saturday and…read moreeach day the price drops until it's like about $1.50 on the last day of the week. My first visit was on a Monday long weekend, I scored some pretty good deals like a plant stand, another baby item for a baby shower and acrylic stands, probably each valued at $40-$50+ for only $11 bucks each. It got me hooked. I went back this weekend and didn't see anything I particularly wanted. The only tricky thing is everything is in boxes/packages so you have to open it up front with the staff. I thought I got all the pieces of my plant stand from my last visit but turns out it was missing a couple of tubes that I didn't notice until I constructed it at home. So even if it's nice and sealed it's important to check all the pieces are there. These are some return and overstock packages so likely there are some deficiencies that you should double check. The acrylic stands also have a bit of crack along the corners. All in all still usable even despite some deficiencies. I also spotted a gold light fixture this time for only $15. I didn't pick up but definitely there are deals to be had there. With locations across the GTA, drop by and see if you find something useful closer to you.
