I decided I wanted instead to give my money to a local business and have a more interesting coffee experience this morning. So, I went off the Thruway 15 minutes out of my way to try FLCR. As a resident of the Finger Lakes, I'd had their coffee before but it never really made an impression.. So, I was looking forward to the experience. I walked in and there is country music blasting... Not a hipster vibe.:) There was a crowd of old-timers in a corner having their morning klatch, which was great. I love an inviting neighborhood coffee shop, even though this is in a strip mall. I could read the sign that lists roasts available today but the names don't say much about the product, so I asked the counter person what they have available, hoping it'd be obvious that I'm not familiar with their product. She answered by stepping aside so I could read the signs on the coffee pumps. Great! I asked what their lighter blend is. She replied "Lake Blend". So I ordered that. it wasn't until I got myself back on the Thruway that I took my first sip. I have never had a weaker cup of coffee outside of a diner or a hospital situation. Even (especially) a light blend, when brewed properly, should have a flavorful profile and provide a full coffee experience. That should be the expectation at a coffee roaster, right? If I had taken a sip before I pulled out, I think I would've brought it back and requested another flavor. The service was quite impersonal and businesslike and it was obvious the counter person wasn't really clued in. Do ya even drink this stuff? The one saving grace was the medium 16oz cup only cost $1.95. I might have paid twice that for a really good cup, though. I had hoped to add a scone or muffin to my coffee order but the selection was limited, didn't look appetizing, wrapped in plastic film--never a good sign. I will say that the experience is particularly disappointing to me especially because they do roast and wholesale coffee. Why bother roasting when the coffee is made so weak so that the flavor is imperceptible?

My wife told me about her experience at this Walmart this past Friday. My wife picked up some items we needed during midday at this particular Walmart in Victor, and when she was using the self register, she was scanning items and our daughter was trying to scan items as well as it set off the shoplifting alarm in on the register and the male attendant came over and was terribly rude and made a scene so that other shoppers stopped and watched to her even after she explained that our daughter was trying to eagerly help scan items (again she's just 3) and everything was scanned. The attendant, went through my wife's shopping bags, without permission, to make sure everything was accounted for and basically accused every other item he saw in the bag to be not scanned until my wife SHOWED HIM on the register where it was scanned. Every item one by one. Meanwhile he threatened her that "he already voided someone's order today, he's not afraid to do it again with her", then turns to our 3 year daughter and asked her if she's been naughty this year because Santa's watching her. After my wife accounted for all her items in the bags, she said he stood there to watch the remainder of the items being scanned all while trying to look and see if there was something in her stuffed in her coat because, you know, SHE'S EIGHT MONTHS PREGNANT!!! SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE IS CARING TWINS!! How about next time, when you see a pregnant mom, struggling with a little toddler you ask to help her instead of accuse her of stealing and threatening to void her transaction and stand there and stare at her stomach to see if she stealing something under the coat. DO BETTER WALMART!!!!

I found everything I needed easily, aisles are well marked, and organized, place was clean, staff were helpful for the one item I couldn't find. Checkout had a 1 register open with a long line, but self checkout, which I use, was moving steady so got out in just a couple minutes. She never expected to find a store with such great selection of wool felts and wool pieces. The store was huge and very sewing craft focused, with embroidery, quilting, and wool felting materials. It's pretty a niche hobby shop because it exclusively caters to these kinds of projects (as opposed to knitting, crocheting, etc). It has everything you could think of for the types of sewing hobbies that the store caters to, however. Highly recommend a visit for anyone into sewing crafts! Everyone working there has their own crafting specialty and is very knowledgeable about it.

Tuesday Morning is a cool discount store, with a limited non-replenished stock of goods on clearance or specially purchased for the store. Lots of Chinese made furniture and accessories. Worth a shot if you don't want to go to TJ Max, Home goods and the 800 pound Gorilla of At Home. As always, YMMV. This one lady in particular spent so much time with me..she took me through the different options for rain coats that would fit my needs. Finally settling on the mountain classic anorak.. love that there is a wide front pocket and a drawstring hood. Next she took me over to the pant section, where she recommended the comfort trail pants. Once I tried these on I fell in love, super comfy and easy to move around in. I was surprised at how thin but protective they are. I also purchased a primaloft packaway vest, perfect to keep my core warm but still able to move. I am so impressed with this place and the service will keep me coming back. After shopping here I am all set for my vacation!
