After glancing at Yelp photos, the 20 % off Yelp check in caught my eye, and the funny t-shirts, the ones on their profile pic. I asked my personal Uber driver ( my other half) to take me. You will not miss this place, there is a huge business sign and parking is available on both sides of the lot. I don't know where to begin looking, the store is clutter but it is a good clutter. There are tons and tons of stuff. Its like a one stop shop, Things you need in Chinatown and the flea market combined together. I am pretty sure you will find something you don't need but actually need here. Just like my experience here. I had fun looking around, Lets see this shop is HUGE! There are sandals, shoes, clothing for mens, womens, children, tshirts, hats, make up, hair accessories, phone accessories, even blankets. If you can't find what you are looking for, ask the owner, she is super friendly. I recall her name is Long. I had fun talking to her and she helped me find what I was looking for. As I mentioned I found 2 items that I didn't need but needed. I saw 2 hats , I didn't think I needed it but bought it for my mom and good friend. ( they both love hats!) I came to shop not looking for hats and not needing it but then I am so glad I bought them because my mom and good friend loved the hats. I also bought those funny saying shirts to give away as souvenirs. They are pretty funny! I was able to use my 20 percent Yelp check in and I am so happy to discover a new place in Portland. I noticed the blankets are cheap, they are the really soft blankets which comes in different color, prints, and even comes with a bag. I remember those blankets, during my childhood days my mom used to buy that blanket for us and I remember they cost more than what Portland Closeout sells them for. I am going to buy a blanket next time I visit. After paying for my items, Long mentioned that her husband is at the store across. Note: Portland Closeout is in 2 separate shop. The store is in front where Long's husband manage has all household items for your kitchen, home and garden which includes furniture, plants, even paintings. This store does look clutter as well, but its a good clutter!! I noticed children's bicycles out in front. This store has EVERYTHING!! Overall, I love how I discovered this place and I enjoyed my shopping experience here. I will be back. Place seems to have a variety of stuff ranging from shirts, some no perishable food, and some books. Mostly what is in here is garden and yard supply stuff. I think it would be a good first stop if you need a shovel or garden supplies. Might as well start at the lowest price and if not found move on to another store. What makes this place great is the owners who are fun to chat with, helpful and overall nice people. A good business worthy of support.

In fact, it might be closer to say that Daiso is what you get when an Ikea, and a high-quality Japanese budget retailer get together and make a baby. There may be a lot of fluff and effluvia here, but there are also a lot of useful, down-to-earth, inexpensive home goods here that put anything you can find in an American retailer, for a comparable price, to shame. It's nice to have a shop that sells useful, elegant, quality goods at reasonable prices, a niche in which the Japanese uniquely excel. First-time Daiso shoppers may experience a slight bit of culture shock at having to convert prices from yen to dollars, but once they're hooked on all the wonderful, useful and inexpensive goods for sale here, that unfamiliarity will be fleeting. In particular, categories such as organization, kitchenware, stationery and home goods are not only cheaper here, they are more durable, useful, clever, and long-lasting. I would take anything purchased at a Daiso over any Walmart product, hands-down, any day of the week. They are simply not comparable. If you are simply one of the few who are unlucky enough to find a defective product, oh no...you're out a buck fiddy. Try again with something else. The thing about Japan, and Japanese culture, is they are relentless in their pursuit of perfection, which also includes innovation at absurdly cheap prices. Daiso is a reflection of this, and anyone who has ever been to Japan (myself included, multiple times) can attest to this: it's in their very nature. Their "worst effort" is often on-par with some of our "best". So sit back, relax, and enjoy this very limited presentation of some of their more modest offerings. And when you are starting to become convinced of their superior way of thinking, manufacturing, organizing, and presentation...feel free to delve deeper, and enjoy what you find. Luckily, today, I was masked up, but I could still smell this cheap odor that smelled like dollar store laundry detergent. So, the total came out to $3 and some change. I got the change together for him but I had to count some it out. The cashier very aggressively exited her register stomped her way to the next register that had an intercom on it. She then proceeded to make an announcement to the entire store to "Please have your payment method ready to go as it makes the process faster." I DID have my payment ready, it was cash. I then asked her if that announcement was made directly at me? Of course I know it was but she denied it. It took me and my son about 30 seconds to pay, not 30 minutes. I told her that was extremely rude and completely unnecessary aggressive behavior. I think it was racially motivated. The person in front of me had about 45 Xmas decorations and she was being very talkative to him. Will never be back here again.

With this in mind, I decided to stop in. While I was able to find some comically strange items, by and large, items for sale were actual, recognizable brand names! Even some that I wasn't familiar with turned out to be far better than expected, which was really surprising. What else was REALLY surprising about this location is that it, unlike all other Dollar Tree locations I've visited, is very large, VERY clean, very well-stocked, very well organized, and has a wider variety. Don't let the unkempt and run-down strip mall it's in fool you; the inside is actually really nice. What started as a "Let's see what terrible things we can find here" turned into "Wow, how is all of this stuff available at such great prices?". I now love coming here as it is a supremely great place to get snacks and even some regular food items. Their "Snack Zone" is mighty impressive, and is a far better place to get snacks than any convenience store I've ever visited (and is far cheaper, too). I was also super happy to find a HUGE mug to use as a shaving mug. I'd not been able to find anything suitable anywhere else. Beverages are also great to get here. Ever heard of Minute Maid "Aquas Frescas"? I hadn't until I visited the store, and the hibiscus variety is AWESOME. I was also really happy to find a refrigerated beverage section with Bang and other brand energy drinks for $1.25 each, far cheaper than the exact same items from Fred Meyer across the street. Variety does change out regularly, so if you find something you like, it's probably best to stock up while they have it. Oh, do you need mylar helium balloons? They have a huge selection here. Need a luminous pineapple (who doesn't)? They have those, too. Who can get along without "balloon inflation gauges?" I'd been missing those all my life, and finally got a set here (just kidding...I didn't actually but them). Finally, the employees there are extremely helpful, cheerful, and friendly.

Aisles are very side, shelves are well-stocked, there's no dust or clutter in the aisles, and the floors are super clean. Variety is wide, but prices are completely hit-and-miss. Some things are absurdly expensive ($30 for a VERY basic six-outlet surge protector?), but others, particularly some food items, are much better bargains. What is most surprising here is the huge selection of furniture. Most of the center of the store is filled with interior furniture, and there is also a very large selection of outdoor furnishings ($2,000 Broyhill Gazebo, for example). They have the best selection of wild caught not frozen salmon. I get all my energy drinks here often for only 99 cents. Teresa has always been so kind, friendly, and efficient. I never have to wait in line for more then a few minutes. If more then two people begin to build up in a line they call more cashiers. The managers and all the staff make me smile every time I come into the store.
