Daiso may be the Dollar General of Japan, but that does not mean that their wares are of the same quality. In fact, it might be closer to say that Daiso is what you get when an Ikea, and a high-quality Japanese budget retailer get together and make a baby. There may be a lot of fluff and effluvia here, but there are also a lot of useful, down-to-earth, inexpensive home goods here that put anything you can find in an American retailer, for a comparable price, to shame. It's nice to have a shop that sells useful, elegant, quality goods at reasonable prices, a niche in which the Japanese uniquely excel. First-time Daiso shoppers may experience a slight bit of culture shock at having to convert prices from yen to dollars, but once they're hooked on all the wonderful, useful and inexpensive goods for sale here, that unfamiliarity will be fleeting. In particular, categories such as organization, kitchenware, stationery and home goods are not only cheaper here, they are more durable, useful, clever, and long-lasting. I would take anything purchased at a Daiso over any Walmart product, hands-down, any day of the week. They are simply not comparable. If you are simply one of the few who are unlucky enough to find a defective product, oh no...you're out a buck fiddy. Try again with something else. The thing about Japan, and Japanese culture, is they are relentless in their pursuit of perfection, which also includes innovation at absurdly cheap prices. Daiso is a reflection of this, and anyone who has ever been to Japan (myself included, multiple times) can attest to this: it's in their very nature. Their "worst effort" is often on-par with some of our "best". So sit back, relax, and enjoy this very limited presentation of some of their more modest offerings. Great to see expansion into OR. No sales tax :-). This location is in a strip mall near a major grocery chain and restaurant options. Selection here is good as they cover from home, garden, smartphone, car, stationary and more including Japanese snacks. As compared to other Daiso locations I've visited I would put this store as mid-size. Seen larger and smaller locations. Plenty here to shop and choose from, so you are not missing out on anything. Maybe a few less variety in some sections. Store is clean and staff is friendly. Aisles make sense as to wonder and shop. Great ideas abound here to enhance your home, car, or workspace. This is my new favorite store! They have such unique and interesting items. It is way cheaper than the dollar tree and has a higher quality of products. They have self checkout and usually at least one cashier up front. Bring your own bag or it's 20¢ for their reusable plastic one. They have such a large supply of stationary. My favorite are the plushies they have some I've only seen here and my grandkid loves them. Store is clean, bright and inviting. If I lived closer I'd be shopping everyday.. ;) read more

Stationary and stickers . Key chains. Sanrio characters items are found here. Car accessories. Everything that you need or want can be found. The only issue I have is there is no price tags on anything. They have a code on the item that you can referred back to. So definitely don't be surprised when you are checking out and the price is more than you think. read more

Yesterday, a friend and I made a day of having lunch and then heading to the new Daiso location in Hazel Dell. This location is tucked into the back corner of a strip mall that's in a corner block of strip malls. When we first arrived, we had a bit of a hard time finding it because it's tucked in the corner, so you can't really see it from the street. After we got parked, we discovered that the line was about 45 minutes to an hour long to get in, so it was a good thing that we had lunch before we came! It was opening day, after all, and the store workers were only allowing about 150 people into the store at a time so they could make sure everyone had a good experience. They regularly had someone come out to check on us in line and keep our spirits up. I'll admit that I've never been to one of these before. I saw the notice about the grand opening in the local news, and I remember hearing about this place from friends in Seattle, but they don't have any online shopping so I had no idea what to expect, other than that they had Japanese goods. As we approached the store in line, I got a bit worried, because all of the items in the corner of the store closest to the parking lot are stuffed animals, but I could see there were other things in the back of the store, and some shoes/slippers as well. Once we got in, I was really surprised - I think we walked through the entrance at about 3:30PM, so I was expecting the store to be ransacked and out of stock for various items. However, every shelf was stocked. I don't know how it's possible, but I didn't see anything that was out of stock anywhere in the store. Plus, they had a ton of employees wandering the store to make sure that everything was kept in good order. Items weren't out of place or ramshackle/untidy. The other piece that blew my mind were the prices of things here. Like I said, I didn't know anything about this store when I saw the notice in the news. My friend and I decided to start at the far end of the store (where the stuffed animals were) and work our way back to the entrance. I couldn't figure out the pricing, since things were all listed in Yen. My friend that had been to the locations in Seattle and Japan before pointed to a placard on the shelf that had a conversion table. "It's a Japanese dollar store, dude." I don't think any one item in this store is much more than $15! My friend and I went through the entire store, partially because I'd never been, but also because I think this place will be popular for a while, so we wanted to make the wait in line worth it. Aside from stuffed animals, we found shoes/slippers (including ones that have dusters on the bottom, but sadly the sizing doesn't go above 27cm - I discovered I'm a 30cm), stationery, pens/pencils/erasers, pencil cases, storage boxes and organizers, charging cables for your phone, all kinds of cable and wire organizers and wraps, makeup and cleansers, picture frames, artificial flowers, rain ponchos, gift bags and wrapping paper, storage hooks, gardening tools, plates and dishware, cleaning supplies, snacks and candies, and other little handy gadgets (I bought a bendable...thing that can be formed into a hook or a tablet stand). Again, the best part of this store is that the items are so affordable. I bought four picture frames, a yakisoba noodle snack, a musubi former, a dish scraper, cable clips, the ...thing that I've turned into a tablet holder, some cleaning brushes, a moisture-proof pill case, a glass container for Q-tips, a squirt bottle for oil in the kitchen, and some gift bags. I spent just a little over $40 with sales tax. Super excited to come back now that I have an idea of what they sell - I'm excited to look more at their storage and organization products to keep pieces for board games together, and organizing my desk drawers! read more

Had to come check this place out. Pulled up and they had a bit of a line. The line did move quickly though. I will say I was a bit disappointed only because I expected to see more items, it is packed with items though. Most people will find something they need or want, lots to choose from. Everything was pretty well organized and they kept us moving. We had to try some Japanese snacks of course, they were for a certain palate, but at least we tried something different. read more

I'd give it 5 stars if they had any assistance for their handicapped customers. When I'm shopping I need a shopping cart. It's difficult to shop in a big store when you have to use a cane. This store only had hand baskets, some with wheels. I asked if they had any chairs for customers to use and the answer was "no." I needed to take a break from shopping with a cane. My only recourse was to go sit in my car for a while. I didn't want to leave the store. It has too many interesting things in it. read more

The girl working there was just rude. First I stood at the register waiting for her to acknowledge me while she slowly finished putting bags out at the self checkout. Then she looks at me and says "it's this register over here" I said "oh! Okay. How is a person supposed to know?" Very snidely she replied "im telling you now!" so amazing because we don't have to go to seattle or sf anymore. love this and spent way too much. feels like ikea downstairs + 5 under + japan = daiso. i love the home goods and kitchen stuff. and the stationary however i would have loved it more if i was still in school. the ONE drawback is NO PUBLIC BATHROOM!!!! what the heck? you have to go to another store and the one close by (was it tm max or marshalls?), the have a CODE to the door, so you can't go and use it and leave. you'll get massive stink eye. so use the bathroom before you go or you may regret it. read more

I wanted to see if they had some tweezers like I bought from the California store but they were out of them. I was able to get a lot of facial masks, such as, charcoal, and aloe vera from Korea and Taiwan. They were very busy but the lines for check out went quickly. That was probably due to having self check out registers. A lot of items were selling out quickly. Everyone was really nice in the store was pretty clean, even though there was a ton of people that are making a mess. read more
