Goodness...this place is PRICEY, especially for their smallish furniture, which is s baffling thing to find at a placed called "World Market". This place sells everything from novelty gifts to seasonal decor to "import" beverages that can all be found at a lot of supermarkets for far less money. The same holds true for their import food items. Staff was abundant and helpful, but I didn't find anything here that warranted a purchase. read more

We just had the worst experience here today. I placed an order online for a chair and cushion that we had tested in store and decided we wanted later. The chair wasn't deliverable so we placed for pick up. Then I got an email that the cushion in the color we wanted wasn't available and that they had to order it. No problem wasn't worried. A week later I get an email that it's ready. We go to pick it up and the people working there say they don't have the cushion and are arguing with us about it. I show them the confirmation and they still are arguing. 4 seperate times did employees go to look for it and no one could find it. The employee tried to argue with us more about it saying the cushion wasn't apart of the order even tho we had the receipt. All the while there's 5 other employees just hanging around the front watching this all happen. Finally someone found the cushion but they argued with us AGAIN saying we needed to pay AGAIN for the cushion. And after explaining basic math on the receipt to the employee he finally went "oh yea you did pay for it" we weren't rude. We weren't demanding a discount. We weren't trying to scam anyone. But they tried to constantly argue and treat us like we did something wrong. World market, maybe you need to do some retraining at this store because this whole ordeal that should've been only 15 minutes of my Saturday to pick up a chair turned into over an hour of arguing and being demeaned by employees. And I normally love this store but I can confidently say we won't be back. read more

I bought a throw pillow two weeks ago and have had it on my sofa. I went to take the pillow cover off to wash it, and found that the zipper is all wonky and now it's stuck open - rendering the lovely cover - the reason why I bought it - totally useless. I don't have the receipt because it has been a couple weeks, but thought surely they would exchange it for me. Nope. Zero help. You could look it up on my rewards account I imagine, but no offer of that either. If they did they'd see I have spent hundreds in the past two weeks furnishing. New home. Does that matter? There was a section of a bunch of Christmas advent chocolate calendars. And right by it was a big sign that simply said $2.99 Advent Christmas chocolate calendar sale. There was no specifics on which ones are on sale. I just picked one and when i came to the register the girl told me it wasn't on sale. I asked her if they can honor it since the sign isn't specific enough. She called the manager and the manager simply said no. This store clearly doesn't value loyal customers. Fun store to browse! You'll find some things here that you probably won't find anywhere else, such as interesting ethnic jewelry and unique home furnishings. I do feel like the prices on these things can be a bit pricey though. Come here if you like unique international stuff: home decor and food. In my daydreams, I have a massive loft filled with eclectic international furniture from World Market. Turkish ottomans, metallic Indian elephant table decor, French decorative store sign, etc. And still deep in that daydream, the housewarming will serve conversation piece beers and wines from different countries - also from World Market. If you think Trader Joes was exotic, up your game with this store. Pro: - unique selection of furniture & decor - selection of unique & international beers Con: - to be fair, they do have general areas divided by category (wine, food, furniture, home decor, etc.). My first time in this store and discovered very quickly an interesting fact that there are so many unusual things after entering to buy? And I found sweet potato pancake mix of all things and was delighted. I remember my grandmother making sweet potato pancakes with homemade melted butter and honey and have not eaten these type pancakes since I was then a child.! I am now 73 y/o and the packages were small only 6 oz which would be my only critique and only enough for only two possibly three people so I bought two. And a bottle of Blueberry syrup to go with it before heading to the register! What a great big World Market. I love it. Very up to par with all it's other locations. Fully stocked, friendly staff, a lot of variety, including sales and promos for "explorers" in the frequent customer loyalty program (free to join). Disappointed though that only mid-day they were out of the coffee and tea carafe samples in the back of the store. Also only one cashier on duty... wouldn't mind a little more help at the front end, but not a terribly long wait. Only other short coming would be the quantity of living furniture. I saw quite a few barstools and dining options, but I used to count on World Market for more bookshelves and side tables too... I'll try again. read more

This is the third time I've called to check if an item is in stock, been told it was, then drove all the way over and when I get there, not only is my item not there, but the option of ordering to have it picked up in store with free shipping is not available. I think the few employees they do have when you can find one need to be better trained on customer service and checking inventory. I discovered the new Manager at World Market at the Mill Plain location (they go through managers way TOO OFTEN, I told her that too)..anyway, that the new Manager is very RUDE, not polite, bad demeanor & should not work in customer service...I went in to do a return & had asked for in-store credit for a return..with my receipts & tags ATTACHED!!!!! All other managers would've gave me in store credit... She just wasn't nice from the get go!!! She came in through the front doors from her lunch break straight to the register to help me....mumbling to herself that her lunch is never long enough....She did not seem like the manager, was not presentable at all & snotty...no 'hello', no 'I'm sorry', no 'thank you'...seemed like she hates her job!!! Everyone else has helped me in the past with an older return...I know she can do it...she just didn't want to!! This location has gone through so many managers....I go there A LOT so, this was a VERY disappointing visit!!!! World Market Regional Manager...please review this manager & ask the employee's how they like her also...She does not come across NICE at all!!!! Again, VERY DISAPPOINTING!!!! This store has some relatively unique items. For the most part I think they're a little overpriced but my family and I come here at Christmas for our secret Santa shopping and everyone gets something they appreciate and enjoy. I doubt I will shop here at any other time though. read more

Customer Service? What customer service? A couple months prior my significant other purchased two woven fiber rugs for our kitchen. Since then, one of the rugs has begun unraveling. Yesterday I returned the rug to the store on Mill Plain (where it was purchased) hoping to exchange the obviously poorly made one for an identical replacement. Sounds fairly simple, I assumed. Much to my disappointment the sales receipt must have been tossed, we don't have a World Market membership and the rugs were paid with cash. As such, I was told the sale couldn't be verified so they wouldn't exchange the rug for the exact match off the shelf. However, I was informed I could purchase a new rug for $24.99. Swell, just swell... In today's retail market--brick and mortar or online--I find such customer service simply deplorable. I'm certain the rug in question costs the store no more than $5-10 and that a poorly made product would just be returned to the manufacturer/distributor for credit. It's no wonder so many stores are suffering financially and, frankly, I don't know how this one remains in business. Yes, I've worked retail in the past and held other customer-facing positions.
