I don't remember ever being greeted when popping in and a few months ago, an employee sitting at a desk responded in a snooty, snarky way when my husband inadvertently wandered toward an area apparently intended for employees. This place is huge! Lots of great furniture here. From contemporary and modern to vintage and antique, there are so many styles of sofas, chairs, dressers, desks, tables, decor and more. The new owners have put a new spin on this mainstay on Main Street. The lower level is now nicely lit and has new clothing in natural fibers and vintage clothing and shoes as well. The upstairs is all gently used furniture and home decor, and they also have a large downstairs with more furniture/decor, nic-nacs, and a good selection of gently worn name-brand women's clothing, accessories & jewelry. They have dressing rooms downstairs in the clothing section as well. The clothing was well organized by style, color & size and ranged from casual & athletic wear to nicer & dressier options, and even some fur coats (not a fan of those, but mentioning it strictly for review purposes). The furniture appeared to be mostly 80's & 90's styles, with some older pieces throughout ranging from antique children's school desks & china cabinets, to more mod 60's styles. The couple of items I saw that were attractive and in good repair were fairly priced. I sort of enjoyed how committed the ladies who work there were to avoiding any eye contact or talking to customers in the store. One woman working passed me closely and just stared me down kind of menacingly and said nothing, but lucky for her I think it's hilarious when the elderly are sassy 'n borderline murderous. The downstairs clothing area was interesting even to this jaded vintage shopper, and there were a few pairs of unusually nice 80s deadstock heels that were priced a bit high but fun to see. Kudos to whoever gets those Calvin Klein d'Orsay spectator flats. They take furs, and had a few interesting vintage ones; I mention it both for people that might take offense to the sales of any furs and those that might be trying to sell some. read more

The prices are good, the merchandise is constantly changing, the window displays are always so beautiful, and the prices are reasonable. The ladies who work there are always ready to help me out when I have a question. They are not pushy, they let me take my time wandering around the store. The downstairs is a fun place to go as well. I have a home in Washington but live out of state. I called to see if someone could meet me at my home to give me an idea of at a price they would offer or consign my furniture. The woman who answered the phone said, send us pictures so we don't have to go anywhere! Living 2800 miles from there it is difficult to do so. I told her I would be there next week and she said well then send me pictures when you get here. ~I explained it was in perfect condition except for one glass 'ring' that was on he top of one of he tables. We don't go out to homes if we don't have to and we want to be sure the furniture is worth us picking up! Needless to say I said Mahalo and hung up. We've only bought 1 thing before (an inexpensive but beautiful oil painting), as we don't care for the look of most of their furniture (it's mostly newer items that appear more appropriate for McMansions and suburban homes). I moved to the area in 2020 and have shopped here several times and have consigned as well - some things they can take, some they cannot. I've never encountered rude volunteers and since some reviews of poor customer service are old, perhaps those volunteers have moved on. I really like the variety and the prices are great. We always pass by this place and decided it was worth a gander Although they have a pretty big collection of furniture, it's all pretty ugly and super old. I only saw a couple of new furniture sets or pieces of furniture, all of which were sold. We smelled hints of cat urine throughout the store and lots of must. Multiple times, sales associates walked by and didn't say a word to us. We seemed to have gotten in their way multiple times. Despite showing interest in stuff, we couldn't get their attention. Stuff seemed a little overpriced in my opinion. The woman downstairs in the vintage department (which is super creepy haha) was pretty friendly. The vibe was weird. There was not so friendly sales staff and the furniture was extremely overpriced, especially for used and stained items. But it's all for a good cause right?! I did enjoy moseying around and looking at all the decor. But then it happened...(backstory) I had just purchased a yoga ball chair off of a virtual sale website for $30. Brand new it sells for $80, But this store had it marked for $150!!!!!!! I could have died laughing but then the grumpy clerk came out through her backdoor curtain with a scowl and I tried hard to keep my composure. I stepped into Divine Consign for the last time today. After 5 years of living in this town and multiple visits to this store, I will no longer shop at this establishment. Holding money in my hand with the intent to buy, I was very rudely told that "the mirrors are not for sale". Too bad I was seriously shopping for several large pieces for my new house. This pretentious staff need to know that people in scrubby workout clothes due to scrubbing baseboards still have money. Serious money. Too bad for you.... this "upscale" consignment store has enjoyed the last dollar from my wallet years ago (when they had decent inventory for reasonable prices). I'm a frequent visitor of thrift and consignment shops. Divine Consign has a decent collection of furniture, smalls and art in Downtown Vancouver. The sale items are located in the rear of the store. There is also a downstairs area that contains more merchandise. We encountered few staff and one was particularly sour looking and rather unapproachable. We definitely did not feel welcome. The store also has a strong musty mildew smell which is concerning whenever you are purchasing something to bring into your own home. No one is going to want that smell to come home with them. I do applaud the donation of proceeds to charity. That is fantastic! Hence, this shop is A-OK. read more

Don't really understand the negative reviews for this business. While there is some ugly furniture here, it's a consignment shop where you buy "gently used" furniture. We were shopping for a couch and dining room table and saw a lot of nice stuff. Prices are some of the best I have seen. My favorite thing about this place is that there no pushy salesmen. I like to take my time and decide what I like and they allowed me to do just that. I found many things to be overpriced for the condition. There were some good sales on things - I'm assuming they've been sitting for a while. The staff is so helpful and friendly. It feels very safe during Covid, the staff wear masks and there is a lot of space to roam for the perfect item. I've gone in here 3 times in recent weeks looking for furniture for a family member's new home. The staff are RUDE! Maybe they're "divinely appointed" to be above others and eschew an unhelpful air about them. The prices..... ridiculous. I frequent estate sales at higher end homes, as well as Craigslist and online sources. I saw 2 different rugs that I had recently spotted on Wayfair. Divine was asking $800 for one of them! And it had numerous spots on it. I asked the sales lady if there was any consideration on pricing or if she could look at Wayfair to validate that the same rug, new and pristine, is on sale for $850 and free shipping. She said "it is what it says" and walked away hatefully. Thanks, but I'll spend $50 more elsewhere for that experience. Next I found a nice small sidechair. Also recently spotted on Overstock.com. Except Divine Consign wants $175 for it and the bottom had coffee stains all over it and had obviously been scrubbed and bleached out the color. Why would I spend that much to recover a chair that can be purchased new for the same or much less??? I'm completely turned off by this place. I did go downstairs and check out the clothing and that lady was nice and prices seemed decent for nice quality. read more
