Prejudice doesn't concern itself with equity. In all honesty, this is a sad fact I've truly come to internalize in the 8 or so months I've spent in Arizona. The antics of the Dollar Tree staff, to me, are nothing new. The trick, as I've come to learn here in Arizona, is finding a location that is less racist than the others while preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. I came to this location a few months ago on a whim & quickly noticed that the atmosphere was different compared to the other Dollar Tree locations I had thus far visited in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Combine that with the fact that it is a dual-purpose location that shares space with Family Dollar, & I made the decision to become a repeat customer. Despite coming here on numerous occasions & not having any issues, the mood quickly soured on March 2, 2024. I decided to stop by around 4 p.m. to grab a drink en route to what would be my final destination of the evening and decided that this Dollar Tree would be the best option. A terrible miscalculation on my part. As has happened on quite a few complete separate visits to retail locations I've gone into while in Arizona, blatant racism & socioeconomic profiling dictated the proceedings. As I went to place my belongings down at the same place I've put them on no less than 7 or 8 separate visits, I was firmly rebuffed & told to place them directly in front of the cashier working in the front of the store. The sticking point for me wasn't the demand, which was directed towards me with their chest; it was the deviation from what I had up until that point came to accept as the norm for visiting this store. The manner in which the employee demanded that I put my stuff directly in front of them whilst I browsed the cheap wares was delivered in just such a way that it left no room for misinterpretation: "put your stuff here so you can't steal anything." Again, "prejudice doesn't concern itself with equity." At the end of the day, when all is said and done, you're always guilty, you're always a threat, & you're always looking to steal. More accurately, that's the lie they continue to tell themselves. If you're looking to visit this location during your MLB or NBA fan experience, I strongly suggest against it. Overall, this place is not the best place to go if you're of African descent. As you can see from my other reviews, I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately. However! At great personal risk to myself, I write these reviews based on my experiences so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. I encourage others to SPEAK UP! This store merged with a family dollar and I probably won't go back to this location for quite a while. This place is an absolute hot mess with six girls standing around up front while one guy is on one register. The poor guy in front of me was treated like he was an absolute thief because he was trying to pay with a large bill Finally got two more registers open when they had nine people standing in line. This store is much bigger than many of the Dollar Trees I've been to and they had just about everything I needed in one stop, one CHEAP stop, less than $18 for everything I got. I just needed a few things while visiting the area that I forgot to bring with me. Dollar Trees across the country have rescued me more than once in the years since I first started shopping in them. The condition of the store was pretty good considering it was late afternoon, and the clerk was most cheerful. I would not hesitate to shop here again. I understand how irritating rude and inconsiderate customers can be but always hate to see the store get blamed and receive a bad review based on a bad experience with a fellow customer rather than due to a bad experience with the store itself. read more

This is my favorite store for Dollar Tree the last time i was there about 2 months ago the manager said they were closing for about 2 months because they are expanding and taking half of the old Smart and Final that went out of business. An actual dollar store. Dollar tree is one of the few that's actually true to it's name. Most dollar stores add an "and more" or "and up" to their name and barely have anything for a dollar. Everything in this store is $1. I always come here whenever I need a little screwdriver set. You can't beat a whole set for a buck. Bowls and plates are cool to pick up here as well as they have some nice looking ones for a great price. Lots of variety of a great price. What's not to like about this place? I will be coming back frequently since they are by my house. read more

If this is for the Dollar Tree on Broadway and McClintock in Tempe, they were my favorite store. I can't believe people complained about 25 extra cents. They have kept their price low for MANY YEARS. Dollar Tree stores have had a very difficult time of getting people to work there. But so many other stores have as well. I think the people who work at all of their stores that I have been to are VERY NICE and HELPFUL. And I have been to many of their stores. People complain that they don't open before 9 a.m. How many other stores open before that? A different store where businesses, rich people, and old people shop doesn't even open until 10 a.m. Very few open at 8 a.m., grocery stores, and stores where you buy stuff to work on your house and yard, maybe. But many stores don't stay open as long as they used to. And with fewer employees and more theft, they just can't afford to keep them open late. Now the one at Broadway and McClintock is CLOSED! I am very sad. Most of their stores are tiny, but that was the biggest I've shopped. I will MISS THAT DOLLAR TREE. read more

Probably the worst quality dollar tree I've been to. Very dirty, and unorganized. The workers seem hardly there. Basically ignored me, only to talk to their friends who were behind me in the line, the whole time. I only go here because they have just a few nicer things than the 99 cent store. I prefer this dollar tree even though the one next to Trader Joe's is closer. This place is clean and big. They have a larger selection of items here and they always have the latest items of the season. I don't find many things broken and laying around like some places. The workers that I come into contact with are nice. The best time to go is in the morning during school hours when it's virtually empty. read more

I have been into this Dollar Tree a few times now, it is right across the street from the hospital I work at. There is a lady that works here who is fabulous, Deanna. She always greets you with a smile. When you talk, she listens. Last week I told her about my sons upcoming nuptials. Well today when I went in the first question from her was "how was the wedding?" She treats each and every customer with courtesy and respect, no matter how they may look or dress. She truly is the epitome of outstanding customer service. If she is not a manager, she should be one. read more
