It's hit or miss on their selection. I like their small trash bin liners. They are great in the car, but they have been out for over a month. Uhhhhhh. All they seem to have are the kitchen 13 gallon size, at times. I got some bin liners on Amazon that are the same size, but a lot more expensive. Hope they restock these. They have a lot of great odds and ends, it's pretty random honestly. They seem to have really gotten better at checking people out. It's faster and less of a wait, the times I've gone in the last couple of months. Still great for little things here and there. Pricing can be kind of random, but they do have some price scanners around the store if you want to double check. Otherwise, you can't see how much you paid unless you check your paper receipt after you check out. I grabbed a plastic container a few weeks ago and it was actually 5 bucks. We came looking for party supplies and left with more than expected! I usually don't buy snacks or food there, but they had a ton of great options! I found poppis and other healthy snacks. Honestly one of the best Dollar Trees I have ever been to! I haven't been to Dollar Tree in forever however I went to get my hubby birthday decorations. Lo and behold there were lots and lots of Christmas decorations. Stockings and stocking stuffers. I did attempt to get a tree skirt because we put up our tree late. Oh the joys of moving. And although the design was cute it did not fit under my tree at all whatsoever. I'm just a girl lol. The store staff were friendly and helpful. I talked to one staff associate about how impressed I was and the nostalgia of going to Dollar Tree as a kid. Things have changed!! Love that for them! Anyway I would check it out for yourself. Dollar Tree on Murphy Canyon Road. had a grand reopening Saturday with new inventory and modernized the store. I started going to Dollar Tree recently because of the current economy. Just getting the essentials now days puts a big dent In the paycheck. Plus some items at the Dollar Tree just make sense to buy. I love this location because the staff is over the top friendly, the store is neat and clean, ordinary people who are just trying save a buck shop there, and it's interesting looking at the new stuff they get in each week. If I could give zero stars, I would!! The people that are hired to work in this store and the lack of customer service you receive here is laughable. What a shame that grown women are this shameful. I came to the store to buy some birthday balloons. I walk in and wait five minutes in line, then once I get to the front, I asked for some balloons to be blown up with helium. The cashier then notifies me that there's no helium left in the tank and that she'll have to call the manager. Once she does, the manager comes out and tells me that she's busy in her office and she won't be able to fill up my balloons for 10 minutes. She would, then also have to refill the helium tank which would take a few minutes. I was fine with it and I waited more than 10 minutes, 15 minutes to be honest and including the wait in line, that's 20 minutes that I was waiting before I was told by the cashier who received a phone call from the pansy manager, who didn't want to come show face and tell me to my face that she no longer was willing to come change the helium tank. So I wasted all that time standing there when she could've been honest with me in the first place, and said that she didn't have enough time to do it, because she was busy with something else. I could have easily driven to another store. Sonsad that a grown woman could be so inconsiderate while working in this position and yet she was hired as a manager. They really need to reconsider having such a lazy person in management. Very unprofessional and disgusted with the way that they handled the situation. Like my time meant nothing. Everything here is only $1. I have purchased comet bathroom powder cleaner, lady/men's speed stick deodorant, clothes hangers, dawn dish liquid etc. They offer a outstanding greeting cards, wrapping paper and gift bag selection. You can purchase cards 2 for $1. What a steal. Exceptionally cute, unique gift bags with superior quality for only a dollar. I will never pay full price for gift wrapping accessories anymore. I will commend the cleanliness of this location. In fact, I'd say it's on top of my list in terms of organized and immaculate Dollar Tree stores I've visited in recent memory. I must, however, ding the rating due to the cashier, Marie's, attitude. Perhaps she was having a rough day or whatnot, but her belittling vernacular when lecturing me because I slid my card to pay prematurely. Furthermore, I'm curious as to why she did not bag my belongings but bagged the customers' belongings before and after me. What was a shot below the belt, was the fact that she verbally rushed me to pack my things as she continued to scan and package the gentleman's groceries after me. Why didn't I receive this quick and efficient service? Why was I demonized for not doing Marie's job quick enough for her? I came to the Dollar Tree to check out their stuff. I was impressed at how much everything was. Most items were a dollar or less. I ended up buying drinks, mango juice and Propel water, stuff for my daughter, and cleaning agent for that soap scum in your shower. They sold Christmas stuff up front. As you walk further back, they sell food items in the freezer and refrigerated stuff. I almost bought frozen dinners for my lunch at work but we didn't go home right away. I'm beginning to be a fan of The Dollar Tree. It wasn't crowded like the 99 Cent store and there was plenty of parking here. I also picked up some candy. I saved a lot of money here. I only spent close to $10 for all those things I picked up. Great deal! When I got in line, I told the cashier that I had my own bag since most places charge for plastic bags but this store had paper bags. Interesting. Checking out was easy. Today at the "Dollar Tree" I stopped by to check out the bargains. It is so awesome you can find anything for a dollar these days. This location had a nice selection of candy, gift bags, bows, ribbons, balloons, Fourth of July things and all kinds of party type items. Paper and plastic plates, plastic forks, spoons, knives, cups for any party occasion and more. It also has a nice selection of office supply items, pens, pencils, writing tablets, tape, things like that. They carry a small selection of hardware type items, cosmetic merchandise and kitchen utensil items. The isles were packed with merchandise; the store was clean and organized. Although this is a dollar store, the dollars add up and you can easily spend fifteen or twenty dollars before you know it. The store had a steady flow of customers coming and going. I didn't notice any floor staff and I wasn't greeted during my entire stay in the store. When checking out the register person was very robotic. She asked me "did you find everything okay?" and never made eye contact she just continued to ring up my merchandise. When she finished she asked while still looking at the register "will this be all"? She took my money, gave me my change,receipt and package and sent me on my way. Again with no eye contact, no smile, no confirmation just going through the motions. Just stopped in to pick up some balloons for a friends birthday. After picking out the one's I wanted I asked one of the cashiers, Edna, if she wouldn't mind assisting me. She paused and looked at me and said something like "uhhh well...we're out of helium" with a rude tone and pointed behind me where a small sign on the helium tank was. Uhhhhh well... My general rules with "Dollar Tree" or other similar stores are as follows: - If quality and brand name are not priorities, absolutely make this one of your first stops. I have had countless occasions when I found a certain deal here and became upset with myself for buying the same thing elsewhere beforehand for up to 6 times the cost. - There is no shame in shopping here. The only real difference is that they have an overstock on so many inexpensive items for a place where finding out their prices are less of a concern. Before quality actually matters, this is a great place to save a ton of money on everyday supplies. Great for quick fixes, small quantities before purchasing bulk, party decorations that will fool anybody, disposable products that are just asking to be bought. You won't feel bad at all here. I can't stand this dollar tree it's always crowded lines are almost to the back of the store with only 2 lanes open. Came to this location last Sat afternoon and only 1 lane was open with the line halfway to the back of the store, I asked the cashier if there was going to be another cashier to help her she said no she was the only one available, so annoying it's the weekend you would think at this time there would be more staff available to help. I'm glad there's another location close by. I went into this store last night and bought two heaping cartfuls of things for a service project. I'm not kidding when I say my carts were overflowing! The assistant manager, Kyle, was very kind and did not make me feel bad at all for buying so many things even though there were many other customers in the store and it was close to closing time. This is probably the best Dollar Tree location in San Diego. Unlike other locations this store is not run down and has plenty of inventory. The lines are never too long which I appreciate. It is a great place to pick up small holiday items, disposable items such as plates, plastic ware, napkins and cups. They have great little stocking staffers and other items for every holiday. She insisted that she could not credit our visa because "there are no refunds". I explained this was not a refund but that the clerks error needed to be corrected. She refused stating it can not be done. I have reported "Connie" to Dollar Tree corporate. This is just a warning. Be very careful when at checkout.
