Great product quality, better than Dollar Tree. It's nice to come here for organizers or other really basic stuff that would be overpriced everywhere. Took off 1 star for one annoying cashier girl. I've said no to donating for whatever fundraiser they've been having, and she wouldn't stop. I literally had to walk away from her begging and trying to guilt trip me -- even though I regularly donate to charities on my own time. Not through a purchase at a discount store lol. I also witnessed her being way too pushy with other customers to a point they walked out of the store without buying anything. Daiso management at this location, please do better. They have self checkout which is good but a customer before us messed up both pos's and left so the employee finally comes and tells us that next time let her know sooner if there is a problem!! Went over the weekend and I'm surprised it was stocked. Usually it's low on items and I would not explore the store for very long. Four stars because of that issue for every time I visit. Other than that. The store is always up-kept, presentable and welcoming staff. It's always clean and the aisles aren't overcrowded. A lot of room to walk around except in the make up aisle. This is one of their biggest store in San Diego. They have plenty of parking but can be limited on weekends since they share with other companies around them. Never had an issue with their staff, they are always smiling and welcoming. They are ready to help! You can find so many stuff here from batteries to household items. So much to explore. Daiso. An oasis of serene tranquility and incredible value. You never forget your first visit...For me it was the Irvine location nearly a decade ago. While many of us have experienced the varying quality albeit unbeatable pricing from Dollar Tree, it's truly amazing the difference an extra $.50 makes in terms of quality. As they are famous for, most of Daiso's items are priced at $1.50. They also sell pricier items which are distinguished with specific price stickers/tags. In essence, they sell anything and everything you could possibly want for nearly any aspect of your home/life: the kitchen, bathroom, and office. Seriously. Their selection is insane. I could go on forever about their inventory but will call out some items I use most frequently: - Nail clippers: stainless steel with great build quality - Woven boxes and plastic trays for home organization - Cups - Cotton swabs They also have a solid food/beverage selection including lots of snacks and candies. Will include some pictures (some were taken pre-COVID hence the lack of masks + social distancing; but I know they're currently following protocols to keep shoppers safe) as a sample of everything they offer. Awesome Japanese quality items for a great price! Located on Clairemont Mesa and the corner of 163 lays the fabulous Japanese dollar store where I guarantee you just can buy 1 item! The price ranges anywhere from $1.50 to $3.00 and maybe $6-$9. They literally have everything here you need for everyday living. They also have refrigerated drinks with plenty of assorted teas, juices, and coffees. I enjoy some really good Japanese jasmine tea and the canned black coffee. They sell assorted ramens ranging from miso, shoyu, and have udon noodles as well! They sell curry packs and also Japanese condiments like salad dressings and tonkatsu sauce. They have a huge variety of chips and snacks! They sell all types of chips with unique tasty flavors. For the snacks they have a lot of flavored pocky and caramel corn and a huge selection of candy for those sweet tooth lovers. They also sell bread to enjoy with your café with nice sweet fillings. Enough for the goodies lets talk about everything else they sell. This place literally has everything you need from kitchen appliances, cleaning gear, and office use. I love Daiso! And this particular location always has fun goodies. The best thing about Daiso IMO is their Sanrio collection! It's so nice being able to find cute trinkets of Hello Kitty and friends for cheap. The only problem ever is stock, which runs out often because it's so popular! When you do get lucky and manage to be there on a day that's full of Sanrio items, it's like winning the lottery lol. There are plenty of practical items and home goods here, too. Daiso price in US is expensive unlike Dollar Tree store. It marks up the price comparing to Yen. The exchange rate on average is 145 Yen per dollar. So the price of any items of 200 Yen should be around $1.25-$1.50 but the store is selling for $4.25. I bought a set of hangers in Japan for 100 Yen ($0.75) and in US, Daiso sells for $4.25. It is definitely not a discount store. Secondly, the customers can't return the products after buying it. Very unfriendly business. I do not recommend it. I come to this Daiso when I go to Convoy St. to eat Asian food, which is about once a week. The neatest thing I found at this Daiso, is these silk orchids in picture below, that are really good quality (look quite real), and only cost $1.50. I put them in pots I find or buy at 99 cents store, and give them as gifts. Great for color in the bathroom and kitchen. These orchids were available in two colors for about a year, maybe 3 years ago, but now I never see them, probably never again. I have never purchase food at this Daiso and the one on Mira Mesa Blvd, which is all about Asian snacks and drinks, can't read Japanese. You have to come often because their inventory changes. They had little pots and pans that are really cheap, and finish inside doesn't last more than a few cookings on the stove (I forget what I have on the stove), but they are only $3 and I just buy another one. But today, they had -0- pots, not even one. Many little knick knacks and space organizers and containers for your house. Everything is really rather flimsy but lotta stuff, you cannot find them anywhere else, cos for one thing, nothing in other stores are "Made in Japan". Now Daiso is becoming like 99 Cents Store, in that more and more things are $1.99, $2.99 $3.99, I mean..... no longer .99 and no longer $1.50. Daiso has a numbered chart on the shelves. 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 on the tag, and you look at the chart that attaches prices to the item, such as $3.99 for the items with 400 on the tag. Daiso makes sure you know, that whatever you buy here, cannot be returned, or even swapped. Clerk tells you every time you come to the cash register and you have to verbally acknowledge you understand, no returns or refunds. I am Chinese, I noted that almost everyone in the store is non-white, mostly Asian faces and brown faces. Nearly everything is in Japanese characters, so I don't even know what some items are, cos I can't read Japanese. Many of the items have childlike designs and colors, like kitty cat and other children image packaging. Take a look at these lovely Daiso silk orchids for $1.50.... sorry, no longer available. It is always so fun to shop in Daiso. They get new stuff periodically so it always like a surprise when you see something neat and interesting. And sometimes you are like Wow! I didn't know thIs existed, these $1.50 rain trousers will sure come in handy some day lol! Today they had a section on Disney stuff such as Disney floor mats, Disney rice cooker paddle etc. Pretty cool! They also have a section on Halloween out so check it out for your Halloween decor. They have Christmas stuff up already too. Don't forget to check out their good variety of foods mostly sweets. Huh. My favorite Daiso is in OC, but this one is starting to be a real contender now. Lots more stuff here now compared to when I last visited. If you've never been into a Daiso, it's a Japan-centric store with an extensive variety of things, such as snacks, kitchenware, glassware, stationary, gift bags, etc. For those who are into cute Japanese stuff, Daiso is one of the most dangerous stores you'll ever encounter as most of the stuff here is kawaii-fied lol. General shoppers can really enjoy this place also as most of the stuff here is $1.50 (granted the quality of the stuff, especially the kitchenware, might be questionable but hey you get what you paid for). No exchanges/returns btw. Parking generally isn't too bad though come dinnertime you might find some struggle finding a free spot. read more

Daiso on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard is probably one of the better Daiso's I've visited in SoCal. I frequent the Hacienda Heights location whenever I'm in that area but the Clairemont Mesa location is bigger, cleaner, and more organized. They basically carry the same items. I love browsing through the aisles but I'm very picky with what I purchase here. The best finds are usually accent pieces for events like their porcelain vases and glass frames. I also like some of their crafting supplies. Overall, everything is only $1.50 ...not bad but definitely way better in quality than what you'll find at other discount places. read more

I can't believe I had never been here before my visit yesterday! My motivation was based on learning a fellow gardener obtained these teeny tiny envelopes to share seeds from a Daiso store at another SoCal location. I was hoping to find the same items for a seed swap but they were not here, womp womp. Just like the 99¢ store, items vary from location to location. HOWEVER, I decided to browse around to see all the things here and walked away with a handful of items... mostly beauty-related. One major score/find was discovering that they sell organza bags here! I had been on the hunt for them to cover my milkweed seed pods (this only makes sense to fellow monarch butterfly hobbyists) and really struggling to find them outside of amazon. Just days prior, I went to dollar tree and got a few packs of their small baby shower organza bags which are very small (2x3" i think) and ended up not working for me. This Daiso location has a variety of colors in 4x5", which was much more useful! These bags are great for giving little gifts or for bundling up merchandise (I see makeup reps do this). In purusing further, I started to find several beauty items I was interested in: Some face masks and pore cleaners, a travel/purse size fold-in brush and mirror (my last one broke), those teeny tiny hair ties (great for braids), a makeup pen sharpener for standard and large sharpening (I was literally prepared to buy a NYX one at target for like $4.50, whereas the perfect one with included shaving holder compartment was here for $1.50!, a fabric grocery bag that folds up into a small bag holder (these are so great to keep in your larger purse for grocery shopping, large pack of makeup remover wipes in Aloe, and nail polish. All for $1.50 each! Outside of what I was interested, there are all kinds of items here. A lot of things specific to japanese culture and appear to be of good quality, considering this is a discount store. They have a great gift section with cards, wrapping, decorations, invitations, etc. This is definitely the place to get gift and party decorations that are unique and affordable.Then everything else you can think of...home goods, tons of kitchenware items, grocery items -- halloween costumes right now -- storage containers, laundry baskets...I could go on and on. It's worth a visit, you will probably find some exciting treasures, just as I did. Lastly, the staff was very helpful and professional. This is my favorite store in Cali! Love Love Love all the cool speciality items. Wish I could get one of these stores in Vegas. Daiso, Let me know if you want to partner up! Haha. This store was huge! Nice and neat. The employees were super sweet and kind. Took me about 2 hours to go through every single aisle. I capped out my items at 78 and had to start another separate transaction for the rest of my items. I have to unwrap all the plastic packaging and compact them like a Tetris game to make them all fit in my luggage. No matter how much I buy, I can always figure out how to make it all fit!
