So good to see that there are dedicated people, business owners that really want to do good for the environment and do their best to provide services that serve this purpose. I've been meaning to stop by but I usually do my grocery shopping at night to beat the crowds and due to working till later in the day. I called out sick to take care of my dog as he wasn't feeling well, but when he started to feel better I decided to go check out this zero waste store! I definitely try to do my best for the environment and my house is full of zero waste products and reusable items, so I was VERY excited for this store to open so close by to me! I also shop at Earthwell Refill and I love it there as well but they focus mainly on cleaning and hygiene products. Definitely recommend both stores. The workers were friendly and professional and explained the process to me. I brought my own jars and bag, and they weighed out my jars before filling them up. They have grains, beans, pasta, household cleaning items, hygiene products, produce, teas, coffee beans, oils, seasonings, the list goes on. I bought brown rice, tamari, curry powder, some produce and Castile soap since I was running out. They had a good selection of items, I wish they had more noodles to choose from, I love chickpea noodles and if they had some I would've definitely bought some! I saw they had some empty dispenser containers so there's more product coming. There were several people in the store which made me happy that other people also care about the planet! Since moving to San Diego I had always wanted a bulk buy store that had more than just dry food. I stuck to my main go to which had been Sprouts. They had a selection of dried food, spices, coffee, and some stores had oils. So when I heard about mighty bin I was excited to see they offered cleaning supplies, bath and body and more. I grabbed all the empty jars I could find and made my way. Upon entering the store there were no customers just an employee behind the counter. I said hello as I walked in and was not greeted back. That was a bit off putting, but I made my way through the store. Most of the items available were ones currently available elsewhere for a much lower price. I appreciated there were some items that were locally made like like, cheese etc, but other than that I was slightly disappointed. Having the option to buy items in bulk is wonderful, but they also need to be accessible to all who would like to make the attempt. I don't see myself going back and will stick my current routine. read more

A great store which will allow us to cut down on our single-use food packaging waste! During our first visit, we grabbed a looot of pasta and we also grabbed a jar of salsa in the fridge section. OMG. If you are looking for a delicious, spicy, and fresh salsa... go grab it! Definitely the best salsa I have tasted. I am looking forward to coming back not only to cut down our waste to help the environment, but also to try the many delicious unique items they have available. I love the vision of this store and I really want to shop there more frequently, but the prices are insanely high. The other day I went to refill my hydrogen peroxide. It came to .25 cents an ounce. My 32 ounce bottle should have cost 8 dollars +tax and some how it cost me $9.40. I hate buying plastic items but I also can't afford an additional 3 dollars (compared to other stores) every-time I want to refill. It's a shame that everything is so high. Bulk shopping has always been a cheaper option so I'm not sure why it's so much more expensive here. read more

A lovely bulk shop for picking up food and other essentials. I actually look forward to shopping here. I love that they have a program in place for people to donate unwanted glass jars. They also team up with a compost drop off program so for a monthly fee you can bring your food waste in a bucket they provide. Perfect for anyone living in an apartment or people who just don't want to deal with compost. I understand. Great bulk store for low/zero waste shopping. I can't get enough of their chai blend and really appreciate the labels (vegan, gf, etc) on all of their bulk products. Love that they stock scratch house cheese - this is some of the best vegan cheese available (used at Donna Jean and made locally). read more

I love The Mighty Bin! I understand some may be surprised by the prices, but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. By that I mean, if you're cheap and expect everything to cost next to nothing (see: Amazon, etc) just know that you are doing future generations (ex. Your children) a HUGE disservice. I read a comment in a review that stated they would rather create more waste bc that's less expensive for them, and that way of thinking is exactly what's gotten us into the environmental mess we are in!! Stop being so selfish & thinking so horribly. read more
