Filled with as-is items discarded by the University -- including desks, dressers, washing machines, TVs, computer monitors, UConn apparel, and more -- you can really score a deal here. Dressers and desks for $5-10? They've got them here. Buy one, get one free TVs? They've got them here too. Sales are cash only with no ATM on site and no "customer service" (obviously). If you want a good deal, I would advise getting here early. I'm pretty sure all the big sells were gone when I arrived at 1pm. You don't have to take home what you buy that day -- you can pick up your merchandise any Tuesday or Thursday afternoon (1-3pm) before the next sale, otherwise it's going back on the shelf for resale. Just an FYI: All clothing and shoes are taxable goods. Not a bad place to check out if you can remember not to miss it!

I got a few minor electronic items that are a great deal. Yes Dollar Tree is cheaper, but sometimes they don't have the name brands nor the selection that TJ Maxx would have. I also think the quality of these small electronic items is better here. The company roots date back to 1976, when Bernard (Ben) Cammarata, General Merchandising Manager of Marshalls at the time, was recruited by discount retailer, Zayre to develop and spearhead the launch of a new off-price chain selling family apparel and home fashions. Under Mr. Cammarata's leadership, T.J. Maxx was born, with its first stores opening in 1977. In the late 1980s, Zayre was restructured and spun off three of its brands -- T.J. Maxx, Hit or Miss, and Chadwick's of Boston -- which served as the initial retail banners of what would become The TJX Companies. TJX continued to grow steadily over the years, opening stores in new markets, countries, and continents, launching new chains, and acquiring other retailers, to bring its popular off-price model to an even wider network of customers who love the eclectic mix of quality, fashionable, brand name apparel and home fashions, all at amazing value. I went in there tonight to grab a few things at quarter to 10, I was at the register checking out…read morebefore 10 but a coupon did not ring up properly so the cashier had to ask his manager to help. This pudgy middle aged loser who can't read is apparently the manager there. He wanted to argue and yell at me because he couldn't properly read the terms of a coupon. Started screaming at me that they are closing and how dare I come in. I would have been out the door BEFORE 10 if there system worked properly or if their manager could actually read. Instead he wanted to freak out, scream at me and throw a fit running back and forth to the Oreo aisle, even when I told him I came up with a picture of the coupon (see below) to save time that he so clearly treasured. It's not my fault he can't tell the difference between $3 off $9 and buy 3 and get $3 off which doesn't even make any sense whatsoever when it very clearly says $3 off a purchase of $9 in a single transaction but his rage at having to do his job made him blind or he is just that stupid. Because he insisted for minutes that the coupon said I HAD to purchase 3 items. So somehow in his smooth brain $3 off equates to a minimum purchase of 3 items. Smdh Comprehension is not his strong point. I looked down at my clock as I was leaving at 10:02. If you can't handle being two mins behind in retail you very clearly are not in the right field. But I'm guessing this is the best he can do. Hire someone with some brains and tact next time. Unbelievable.
