if it wasn't for decorations for work ... and recommendation to go to this place, i wouldn't have been caught shopping here. BUT! everything is a dollar. made my eyes light up! i was so shocked at the things you can buy for $1. i bought $6 stockings, $3 window decorations, $1 cheetoh can ... it came out to be 10.74. WOW. can you say wow? these stockers were normal sizes! with cute decorations already done on them, given it wasn't the most neatest and prefect design ever, but you can work with it! i saw lots of things. tons of cards, wrapping paper, PENs!, picture frames! food! shampoo! and lots and lots. i must say there was a lot of traffic though, there was NO room to walk anywhere. i had to go "excuse me" to go between people. bleh. read more

I cam here yesterday with my mom, looking for Halloween decorations to decorate our offices, unfortunately they didn't have much to choose from, I saw one Happy Halloween sign, and the rest was just junk. boo. Probably because next week is Halloween and we are totally last minute. On the plus side they did have a ton of Christmas decorations, I saw this cute glittery tree that would be def. cute for my desk! 1 dolla! I always shop at Dollar Tree for school supplies and movie snacks! Long line, two cashiers arguing back and forth about getting money or change. One positive he gave change, two tens for a twenty, and the other wanting to be audited on the spot. Needless to say, that was awkward. Nonetheless, my total was $5.09. I gave exact coin change. As I was given my receipt, he said that I gave him one dollar instead of 5. I'm pretty sure I gave him that 5 cause I double checked. Anyhow, the situation seemed shady to me. I was in search of some extra long pliers for my r/c truck and found myself in here, thinking it couldn't hurt to check it out for some goods. Unfortunately, there were none. I did pick up a six piece screwdriver set that I stumbled upon. It's so cool that you can find some cool stuff for a dollar. Too bad the tax makes it horrible to fork over those extra pennies. Dang it. Now it's a dollar and change store. I will be back for more random things that I may need in the future. The line was annoying though. There was one cashier and the line was starting to extend into the aisle, but no one was complaining. If you went to the Albertsons next door, I'm sure you'd hear complaints if you were the third person in line. The woman had no worries though. Bought mylar balloons here. They said they don't give out those free plastic weights to keep them from flying away if you accidentally let them go. I'm not talking about those heavy weights wrapped in shiny decorative fringy wrapper. I understand that you can buy those. What I'm talking about are those plastic clips or plastic discs just heavy enough to hold a balloon down just in case you let go. You're supposed to supply those for free to customers who buy mylar balloons. I just found out that it's illegal for stores to sell mylar balloons without providing weights. I think it's california law. It has something to do with the problems mylar balloons cause when they get caught in electrical wires. It cost a lot to fix the the problem when these types of balloons get stuck in them. Dollar Tree, you better check your laws! read more

This place is really a dump with no service other than one or two cashiers BUT I come here to buy no name cans of soup, veggies, stew, etc etc. Can't find them any cheaper anywhere else. This is the only Dollar store in Sj/Milpitas area that carries Chocotreasures. They are US version of Kinder eggs. My son loves these and for a dollar each I bought a whole tray. It would have been better if they had the actual surprise egg variety in stock but per the store manager they usually carry those during easter. read more

I never thought I'd be raving about a dollar store .. but here I am. This one is pretty neat and they have a whole lot variety of toys plastic & otherwise. I bought a couple of stuffs that I didn't know I need and 4 game cones for a dollar .. bet it'll cost more at a sports shop. Oh and the have cute bug jars, art apron, etc etc .. This place is a hit or miss. I usually buy this one product, but in a large quantity. Sometimes the cashier is able to scan it once times that product depending how many I have. I usually visit this store around the holidays. Right, I probably will have to get something for doing an inexpensive office party. Perhaps they might have something useful. I have to admit, the cheapy glittery plastic bells my boss bought some years back were real junky looking. If you're buying Christmas tree garland, buy extra strands and twine them together because the strands sold are thin. Then again, perhaps that was what you were looking for. The first time I went to this store, I bought some wrapping paper. I thought I was saving money. Nope. You get what you pay for. The paper tore when I tried to wrap the present. Frustrating. It was fine for wrapping china, but nothing more. What did I learn? Buy better paper. Just because it was cheap did not make it usuable, other than in name. Other things I've learned NOT to buy: Knock-offs of Scripto fireplace lighters. The igniters do not work. Thankfully, I remembered to bring matches as a back up when we needed them for fireworks up in Washington and the igniters failed. I also don't feel safe buying toothpaste at DT (Alright, I am remembering the counterfeit toothpaste containing Diethylene glycol that had a recall in 2007). Tools? Don't bother. Plastic food container for lunch meals? Maybe. Anyway, it's a good place to buy disposable crap that if it gets broken, you won't be out much. I am supporting myself through an expensive graduate program so I need to be sensible about my spending habits and Dollar Tree is my solution. As a former marketing person, I am aware of branding is somewhat of a hoax for certain items. For example, it makes no difference whether I wipe my dirty bottom with branded TP or generic TP. At the Dollar Tree, I am able to find inexpensive (non name brands) daily items without paying a fortune. I can get durable 2-ply unbranded TP that can last me a lifetime for $1 per package of 4. I can also find good branded toothpaste for $1 whereas Target sells the same item for $3.50. I also appreciate their cheap office supplies for my schooling purposes. I can get cheap index cards, paper, pack of 5 highlighters and white-out for $1 per item. And not to mention cook ware and containers. They have really great silicone heat resistant cook wares all for $1 each. On a good week, I am able to find branded items for cheap. In this hard economy, I am really thankful to have Dollar Tree that helps me stretch my dollars and save a bundle. read more

I love Dollar Tree for their cheap office supplies, it helps lessen the guilt when I take pens home from work. I stopped at this DT because I was in the area and needed to pick up some stuff for the office. When I walked through the doors I noticed an odd aroma in the store. At first I thought maybe a child had an accident on the carpet, but the smell was everywhere and soon my eyes and lungs began to feel like they were burning. I hurried to the cashier and I asked her what was causing the smell. She told me that the nearby fitness club had construction work going on and they hit a water main flooding the store. I wondered how water could cause such a smell, and she smiled and sympathetically said well the water wasn't exactly clean...ewwww! So great now I'm imagining raw sewage running through this place tainting my cheap ballpoint pens, ack. I asked the cashier if they were going to do anything since the smell was unbearable and my eyes were by now watering. She told me that the cashiers had all been suffering from watery eyes and nausea for weeks and had asked the owner to do something but they seemed to think that steam cleaning the carpet took care of the problem. Worst isn't even the correct word!!! More like depressing!!!! Just moved to Milpitas not even a week ago. Before I moved from my previous place, I also had a dollar tree around the corner. BUT nothing close to this store. This store is trashed from outside to the inside. I was so excited to find out about this store being very close to my house. I was heart broken. Boxes in every Isle as if the delivery truck just dumped them off and no one's had the time to stock the shelves. No carts available. No baskets. To say the least....this store is very short on staff. The only cashier there had no personality whatsoever. She had her friends hanging out with her at the register and having a full on conversation with them instead of with the customers!! No words in exchange with me or the customers before me other than her telling me to swipe my debit card because they didn't accept the "chip" yet. When I least expected it, she was just handing me my receipt and on she went to the next customer. I asked who ran this store and at first she said she ran it but than said the store managers name was (Tanya) . If so, tanya, ypu need to manage yoir store better. And if your cashier isnt happy working there my recommendation would be to let her go because she's just making your store look worse. was the first and last time I go in this place. Yes, I am a fan of the Dollar Tree Store. Chheellloooo everything is only $1.00. I am hosting a sleep over this weekend so I quietly left work and stopped by the Dollar Tree store. I purchased 3 mini baskets, 7 different nail polish colors , 2 bottles of nail polish remover, a bag of cotton balls, 2 packs of nail files (each pack contained 4 flies) nail clippers 2 x $1.00 you cant get any better than that. :) 2 shasta soda (3 liter) some chips and two boxes of microwavable popcorn. All i have to do now is stop by Costco on Saturday to pick up the pizzas and I'm completely set for Girls Night in. read more

I walked in the store at 2 after closing, people on line, doors open, and a lady yells at me, were closed. I said I'm sorry didn't realize the time, just need 2 things real quick. She says, nope we're closed. I say, maybe you should stand at the door to tell people instead of telling them to leave. She continues her nasty talk, I ask her name, she says, Sarah, see my name badge, Sarah. She was disgusting and rude. I really like the store but this day and age, I can guaranty you, not the right way to talk to a person who frequents the store to help pay her wages. I'm my business, people have come after close.
